Tech Ten Tactical – B5 SOPMOD Stock Insert

Thursday, January 30th, 2025

I was recently introduced to Tech Ten Tactical’s line of weapon accessories. They’ve got quite a lineup but I’d like to start with a great accessory for the B5 SOPMOD stock.

The patented B5 Enhanced SOPMOD Stock Insert adds another QD attachment point to your B5 Enhanced SOPMOD Stock. It’s simple to install.

The Swinger Sling Mount makes it easy to transition from right to left and back thanks to its location on the stock and the fact that it allows the sling mount to rotate around 200° with the Swinger Sling Mount. It also never comes into contact with your hand and isn’t in the way at your cheek when the weapon is shouldered.

Also available as a kit with both the insert and B5 stock.

4D Tactical SOF Cap Now Available in Woodland Camo

Thursday, January 30th, 2025

Unveiled during last week’s SHOT Show, the Woodland version of the 4D Tactical SOF Cap has all of the same great features.

It utilizes Galvion’s BATLSKIN fitband system, which is found in their Caiman Helmet product line. Additionally, the SOF Cap is fully compatible with all versions of TNVC’s MOHAWK Extended run battery pack, counterweight, storage, and cable management system.

The SOF Cap allows for a wide range of head sizes, rapid adjustment, and secure operation without the need for an additional retention system.  It also incorporates our Secure TETHER System and our low-profile VAS shroud. The SOF Cap is ball cap comfortable and can be worn for extended mission durations without any pain or discomfort. Although the SOF Cap allows for the use of counterweights and extended-run battery packs, they are not required for normal operation.

Streamlight Launches High-Candela Model of ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount

Thursday, January 30th, 2025

Rechargeable Weapon Light Has Nearly Five Times the Candela Output of Previous Model

EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 29, 2024 – Streamlight®Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, launched the ProTac® 2.0 Rail Mount HP (high performance) light which delivers up to 2,000 lumens of blinding white light and 85,000 candela for illuminating targets at a distance, nearly five times the candela output of the original ProTac® 2.0 Rail Mount. The new weapon light is powered by a Streamlight SL-B50® battery pack that charges via an integrated USB-C port.

The light uses a rugged, integrated rail clamp that easily and securely attaches to weapons with a MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail, M-LOK®, or M-LOK compatible rail systems. It has a multi-function push-button tail switch for momentary or constant on operation and three selectable user programs. An optional remote switch is available in momentary only and momentary/latching versions. Both the push-button tactical and remote pressure switches allow for one-handed operation of the momentary, variable intensity, or strobe modes.

“The new ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP is an exceptional light, because it is not only high-lumen, but also features a high-candela beam for long-range lighting needs,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “Whether lighting up the end of a dark alley or outdoor path, or using it to conduct search and rescue operations or other maneuvers under low-light conditions, it’s a powerful tactical tool for law enforcement professionals, military personnel, and outdoor users alike.”

Featuring the latest in LED technology, the ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP offers three settings – high, low, and strobe. On High, it provides 2,000 lumens, 85,000 candela and a beam distance of 583 meters. On Low, it delivers 250 lumens, 11,500 candela and a 214-meter beam distance. Run times range from 2.5 hours on high to 11 hours on low; in strobe mode, it runs for 4.5 hours. The light also features a TEN-TAP® programmable switch that allows for user selection of the light’s three different operating programs: high/strobe (factory default), high only, or low/high.

The ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP uses an SL-B50 Streamlight protected Li-Ion USB rechargeable battery pack, accessed by the light’s sliding sleeve. The battery is keyed to ensure proper alignment of the charging port, and features LED status lights to indicate charge status, including red for charging and green for fully charged. An integrated safety circuit protects the battery from accidental overcharge or discharge.

Fabricated from 6000 series machined aluminum with a Type II MIL-Spec black anodized finish, the light features a glass lens with anti-reflective coating that is gasket sealed. It measures 6.30 inches in length and weighs 9.06 ounces with an included Streamlight SL-B50 rechargeable battery.

The new light is IP67-rated for dust-tight and waterproof operation to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It features an impact-resistant construction and is also 2-meter impact resistance tested.

The ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount HP has an MSRP that ranges from $251.00 to $305.00 depending on the configuration and comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Marine Corps Announces New Leadership School for Senior Enlisted

Thursday, January 30th, 2025

MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. —

Marine Corps Education Command, Marine Corps University, announced the launch of the Staff Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) Leadership School (SLS), combining former professional military education requirements for staff sergeants and gunnery sergeants. Previously, SNCOs attended separate Career and Advanced Schools, but the new unified curriculum will streamline their education and provide a higher standard of leadership training for all junior and mid-grade SNCOs.

The creation of the SLS addresses the need to maximize time in Fleet Marine Force units. Recognizing the value of combining the former Career and Advanced Schools, Marine leaders aimed to improve return on investment (ROI) by delivering necessary education while increasing opportunities for SNCOs to mentor junior Marines. Set to launch the pilot course in April 2025, SLS will offer a rigorous curriculum that prepares SNCOs for higher-level leadership roles within the Total Force. By consolidating these programs, Education Command/Marine Corps University ensures timely, high-quality education to better equip junior and mid-grade SNCOs to prevail in combat.

“This new SNCO leadership school is a critical step in strengthening our Staff Noncommissioned Officer corps,” said Brigadier General Matthew Tracy, Commanding General, Education Command. “By integrating leadership studies, an acculturation of standards, and professional development, we are creating more capable, resilient leaders who will guide Marines through both combat and peacetime challenges with confidence and integrity.”

The SLS program refines SNCOs’ counseling techniques for discipline and professional development, while deepening their understanding of complex personnel issues. It enhances problem-solving skills, improves mentorship, and ensures mission success. Additionally, it strengthens their knowledge of the Marine Corps warfighting philosophy, particularly within the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) and improves their tactical knowledge for joint and naval operations, enhancing ROI by preparing SNCOs to lead in complex combat and multi-domain scenarios.

“Through the SLS, our SNCOs are equipped with the tools to not only lead more effectively but to mentor and guide their Marines through the complexities of today’s operational environment,” said Sergeant Major Stephen Griffin, Sergeant Major, Training and Education Command. “Our efforts targeted balancing professional development between PME and Advanced MOS training. This program ensures that our SNCOs are better prepared to lead with confidence, in the field and in multi-domain combat scenarios, strengthening the overall effectiveness of the Marine Corps units.”

An added focus on physical training will be reintegrated into the curriculum, with an emphasis on injury prevention, mobility, and recovery, in collaboration with the Human Performance Branch and the Martial Arts and Fitness Center of Excellence.
SLS will be offered in both resident and seminar formats, ensuring flexibility for Marines and commanders. The SNCO Leadership School reflects a commitment to elevating enlisted leadership education, setting a new standard for excellence at all levels.
