At every show I attend I run across something completely unexpected and this time it was SoRite DECON. Produced by a small, woman-owned company in Nashville, SoRite DECON is quickly becoming a go-to product for law enforcement, first responders, and even the military due to its ability to render narcotics inert. Those who hit the scene first are vulnerable to unintentional contamination by narcotics and many have suffered overdoses.
Decontaminating at the molecular level, SoRite DECON renders fentanyl and heroine inert in 60 seconds. The compound contains Sodium Chlorite which oxidizes and destroys fentanyl and heroin. A number of chemical groups in fentanyl and heroin, especially the carbon linked oxygens and nitrogens, are highly susceptible to oxidation which cleaves and destroys fentanyl and heroin at those locations.
According to the manufacturer Aseptic Health, SoRite DECON is also safe on your skin and does not emit a heavy odor. It is also non-corrosive and safe in your clothing and equipment as well as the interior of vehicles for use to decon after transport.
SoRite DECON is offered in multiple container sizes as well as wipes.

The Reaper target from Reaper Training Systems is the most innovative target system I’ve seen in some time.
The stand mimics the human skeleton and the plates, each made from 3/8″ ballistic steel, are shaped like different anatomy zones. Due to the design, spent projectiles are directed toward the ground meaning you can fire most handgun ammo safely at 7 yards and rifle ammo at 20 yards out.
Not only does this steel target mimic the human body, but it also offers audible feed back due to the tuning fork cuts in each plate which emits a different sound pitch as they are hit.
You can also attach cardboard targets to the front of the Reaper and will still get the audible feedback in addition to the paper record of your training.

This is the Massif Flamestretch Sock System. Consisting of two socks, the Massif FR sock is worn over a Darn Tough Merino wool micro crew lightweight sock as a liner. The Massif Flamestretch fabric is highly breathable and traps heat to keep your feet warm, while Merino’s properties for moisture management are widely known.

There were a lot of great products at Federal Range Day, but I found this to be the most significant.
The Rapid Access Safe Room was designed by manufacturer and contractor KT Solutions USA to protect school students and staffs from active shooter threats. Naturally, it can installed in other buildings, both government and private sector, as well.
Offering NIJ level III armor protection, the RASR can be stored against the wall, the sides configured as dry erase or cork boards, yet can be deployed in 10 seconds, providing shelter from gunfire or even objects propelled around a room due to a tornado.
The door and wall are locked from within making unauthorized entry extremely difficult. Yes, there’s a way to gain entry in the case someone accidentally locks themselves inside and is incapable of opening the door but I’m not going to disclose it here.
There are optional cameras for both inside and outside the shelter which can be used to verify the identities and condition of those within the shelter and to maintain situational awareness outside of the shelter.
Interestingly, the safe room is manufactured with a standard height and custom panels are fashioned for each installation to allow it to cover from floor to ceiling.
