Using the finest premium grade, heavyweight suede hides sourced and tanned in the USA, lined in MILSPEC 5050 NYCO ripstop, and industrial grade brass snaps, the Roam Jacket is part trucker, cruiser and chore coat. Classic and timeless American styling, this suede jacket is made to be worn for a lifetime, and can be passed on to your kids. From open range to open road, the Roam Jacket has 7 pockets for all your EDC, will take on the patina and stories of the owner, and become a well worn, familiar friend. Goods that are built to last. Buy it for life.

FAB9551B-21EC-48C6-AEF5-948B109C3864

The Roam Jacket represents the best in American made goods and is a part of their Built in USA CORE-Line of products by Prometheus Design Werx. Available in sizes 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, and 46.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“Our company Founder Patrick has been designing outerwear for over 20 years. Jackets of many varieties have been a part of his design portfolio from almost the beginning of his career. And as an avid fan and rider of vintage motorcycles, he has been designing and using his own custom leather jacket designs for even longer. The personal relationship Patrick has had with the custom leather shop that makes PDW’s leather jackets extends to over 3 decades, and professionally for almost 2 decades. American made outerwear made by these legacy shops operate with a different ethos; wearable goods that are crafted and built to literally last a lifetime or more. The Roam Jacket is our first suede hide style and was inspired by the trucker and ranch styles made in the 1950s and 60s. Unlike the big box, mass market, thin-flimsy suede jackets, ours are made with all US materials, and of a quality and hide weight above all others. Each Roam Jacket is literally handmade with great pride in our home city. Beyond the classic heritage styling, this jacket has an updated cut for the modern man, and can be easily worn over a sweater-hoodie to a wool shirt. You can see in the photo the Roam Jacket being worn with our Fall ’18 wool Melton Woodsman Shirt and an upcoming version of our popular Raider Pant made in WWII dungaree-style USMC cotton herringbone twill.”

The PDW Roam Jacket will be available for purchase on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 12:00 Noon Pacific via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

Magpul Unveils New Clothing Line

Monday, September 17th, 2018

You may have noticed Magpul clothing on sale over the past month or so. That’s generally the signal that something new is coming.

9B8524C7-220A-46F7-8728-A33CFECD0493

Today, Magpul unveiled their new lineup. The seven new styles were created for the shooting lifestyle and they’ll be great for wear in the outdoors as well as in the city.

I had an opportunity to check everything out last month and I’m impressed. The line consists of the Magpul Logger Shirt LS, Commando Zip Neck Sweater, Reversible Tech Logger Shacket, Light Insulated Jacket, Light Insulated Hoody, Light Insulated Hybrid, and the Softshell Utility Pant.

Logger Shirt LS
0DC3B445-7595-4107-9EAF-D899CCAEBF6F

The Logger Shirt is made from stretch synthetic wool that provides warmth when wet and odor-free performance.

Commando Zip Neck Sweater
38532503-8865-4D3B-9DE9-FD159834365C

The Commando sweater combines synthetic wool with reinforced windproof/weather resistant shoulders and arms. You’ll also notice an articulated fit.

Reversible Tech Logger Shacket
2EF02F3A-8680-4EB1-9A07-A473B732F17F

This is the ‘grey man’ piece in the line. The Shacket is a fully reversible plaid shirt that reverses to a solid color jacket on the other side, allowing the wearer to quickly change his appearance. Or, just switch it up day-to-day. It offers equal function regardless of the direction of wear, with plenty of room to move. It also boasts two easy-access hand pockets for storage and thermal protection.

Light Insulated Jacket & Hoody
904D9F43-A034-43D3-AE11-1AD05520EAA7

While Magpul isn’t going to say it, you will. So I’ll address the elephant in the room right up front. This is their alternative to the Arc’teryx Atom.

F4C4FEC7-1952-4388-93E6-F250B0FC6DB8

This is a lightweight insulated jacket constructed with breathable, synthetic hydrophobic insulation and a windproof face fabric. It has high air permeability in order to move moisture away from the body quickly during activity.

60F92E6B-4287-45ED-A931-4CFF80C8FFE2

Offered in a standard jacket and hoody version, it offers zippered hand pockets for storage.

Light Insulated Hybrid
C62D2431-32A4-462B-BBB3-0740779DBEC6

While I’m a fan of several of the garments, the Light Insulated Hybrid is by far my favorite. First off, I love anoraks. Also, the hybrid design puts materials where you need them. It offers an insulated softshell shoulder and arms with a stretch nylon lower torso.

1EE0B021-1B75-4B00-9D43-607E4EC3E00F

Additionally, Mayflower Research & Consulting has designed a chest rig to be used in conjunction with the Hybrid. Naturally, that means that other chest rigs, like the one shown can be worn as well.

Softshell Utility Pant
CB4F7E00-3E9A-41B1-88F9-883EC49684D1

You notice that there’s only one pair of pants in the new line. The perfect pairing for the Hybrid pullover, this pant is made from a lightweight softshell material that is quick drying. You’ll also notice the color matching with the Hybrid.

41B116BE-43D3-41CA-9417-5C777D88DBED

Storage consists of secure hand pockets with internal storage for phones, two internal multi-use magazine pockets that are the perfect size for carrying 15-round magazines or pocket knives, and one thigh pocket for extra gear.

Overall Impressions
7C0D20DC-2C51-4B19-813B-296840384F21

Yes, this new line is tuned for use in Fall, Winter and Spring. But, depending on where you live, you’ll wear some of these items all year. I also think you’ll find a more true fit than last year’s line.

Great designs, fantastic materials, excellent fit. Overall, an outstanding value.

The Air Force Is Teaching Airmen How To Wear The ACU

Sunday, September 9th, 2018

It doesn’t matter how much the Air Force refers to their recently adopted Army Combat Uniform as “OCPs” (for the camouflage pattern), the tags will still say “Army Combat Uniform”.

As the 1 October roll out date nears, the Air Force Personnel Center has started releasing guidance to the force on how to wear the ACU. Despite wearing Patrol Caps with the BDU, DCU and ABU, Airmen have apparently forgotten how to wear it. And oh yeah, many are unhappy ballcaps aren’t authorized.

Whoo! All these questions about the new Operational Camouflage Uniform! AFI 36-2903 does the heavy lifting for you, but sometimes you just want to hear it from the source, like us!

First up in our OCP series: The Patrol Cap.

Airmen will wear the patrol cap straight on the head so that the CAP BAND creates a straight line around the head, parallel to the ground. Officer rank is Spice Brown – EXCEPT for first lieutenants and lieutenant colonels who are required to wear black rank (starting next April). Chaplains may wear the chaplain occupational badge sewn-on and centered ½ inch above the visor.

WHEN can Airmen wear the OCP patrol cap? Starting Oct. 1, but of course, if you wear the cap, you should be wearing the entire OCP uniform. No mixing and matching ABUs, BDUs and OCPs!

WHERE do you get OCPs if you want to wear them Oct. 1? First – check with your leadership. They may want to wait until they have your unit/org patches available before they authorize wear of OCPs. Otherwise, Airmen with previously-owned, serviceable OCPs (not multi-cams) can wear them with current patches and badges.

$$ What if you don’t want to buy OCPs just yet? That’s ok, too. The mandatory wear date for all Airmen to wear the OCP isn’t until April 1, 2021, so plenty of time to get your new uniform ready! Visit our website for more info at www.afpc.af.mil/Career-Management/Dress-and-Appearance
