tasc Blaze SS Crew

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

I picked up some tasc Performance boxer briefs over Christmas break and really like them. Now, I’ve picked up the Blaze SS Crew and I love it. It combines materials and design to produce a comfortable shirt with a very soft hand.

Manufactured from tasc’s Performance Jersey and FlowMesh fabrics, the Blaze short sleeve crew neck t-shirt is a great choice for PT. The jersey knit (55% Organic Cotton, 40% Viscose from Bamboo, 5% Elastane) is super comfy and the mesh is still a tight enough weave that there aren’t holes you can see straight through yet remains very breathable. The mesh vent ingenuously wraps like a raglan sleeve around the top of the shoulder forming a yoke across the upper back and then down into the armpit. But then, the sleeve attaches like a standard t-shirt. Flat seams (even on the body) ensure comfort, even under a pack. The Blaze is also generously cut for plenty of ventilation. The design is topped off with a great narrow crew neck with plenty of elasticity that won’t bacon neck.

It also features UPF 50+ protection from the sun as well as anti-odor and moisture wicking properties.

Available in Heather Gray, Gunmetal, Ultra Blue and Navy. Only the Heather Gray is two-tone. Sizes Small – XXLarge.

WT Tactical to Supply KASOTC

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

WT Tactical by Wild Things, LLC has signed an agreement to provide technical outerwear to the instructors of the King Abdullah Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC), outside of Amman Jordan. KASOTC is a training center for Special Forces and Counter-Terrorism personnel. Over the past 12 months more than 6,000 trainees from 25 countries have received instruction and training at KASOTC. The facility is amazing. Situated in a 1,235-acre quarry, the facility features numerous small arms ranges in addition to an 8-story structure for climbing, rappelling, and distance shooting. There is also a full-scale A-300 Airbus fuselage for aircraft training as well as a close-quarters battle (CQB) house with a three-story armored facility and adjoining five-story tower.

In addition to outfitting the instructors and leadership of KASOTC, WT Tactical products will be available in the KASOTC pro shop. WT Tactical is also a prime sponsor in the 4th Annual KASOTC warrior competition being held from 2 May 2012 – 6 May 2012.

Off Duty – Ministry of Supply

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

An Introduction to Ministry of Supply from Ministry of Supply on Vimeo.

Ministry of Supply is a business that’s been characterized as “Under Armor meets Polo.” Founded by five MIT students, Ministry of Supply was born after a board member got fed up with feeling sweaty and uncomfortable after long, redeye Transatlantic flights. The most logical answer? Integrate performance fabrics into classic business attire. And with that, the Agent shirt was born. Along the way they conducted some analysis on how the human body moves along with some market research and also developed a seamless undershirt.

Branding was easy. Big fans of the 007 series, they named their company after the real life Q’s wartime posting.

Thanks to Ministry of Supply who are offering SSD readers 23% off all shirts by using the discount code SOLDIER at checkout. We know a lot of you guys have to wear collared shirts on the job so give it a shot.

Wild Things Tactical at JBLM

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Wild Things Tactical, recently approved for use a the Army’s Free Fall School for Free Fall and ATIC students, was on hand at the Darley Defense Day at Ft Lewis last week. A number of SOF personnel from 1ST SFG(A) and 2/75 Ranger Battalion, in addition to aviation crewmen, PJs, CCTs and TACPs stopped by to check it out; interestingly, one NCO related to Brian Montgomery (Wild Things Tactical point of contact there) that not only had he been involved in the first T&E iteration a few years back, he “still had the jacket and still loved it”. More than one from AFSOC member mentioned they’d been issued the kit and were well satisfied.

It’s a good sign when guys stop and tell war stories about your gear. For more information contact brian.montgomery (at) wildthingsgear.com. On the web a http://www.wildthingsgear.com/wt-tactical, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/WTTactical.
