Ross Botha Joins Sage Ordnance Systems Group as Sales Manager

Sage Ordnance Systems Group announced this week the appointment of Ross Botha as Sales Manager for both Sage Control Ordnance, Inc. and Sage International, Ltd. Sage Ordnance Systems Group is well known for their Enhanced Battle Rifle (EBR) Chassis Stock System that is deployed by Army (M14EBR-RI), Navy (MK14 Mod0, MK14 Mod1), Air Force (MK14 Mod0), Marine (M39 EMR) and Coast Guard (M14 Mod0) units. Sage further manufactures an extensive range of 40mm, 37mm and 12GA less-lethal munitions and launchers. Their excellent SL-1, SL-6 and innovative Deuce double barrel over and under launchers are in use by countless agencies throughout the world.

Ross has been involved in the defense industry for well over 20 years with much of this time as Director of Training for a large defense related training provider in Southern Africa. After relocating to the United States, Ross was the law enforcement and military sales associate for a well-known U.S. ammunition manufacturer.

Jim Erwin Joins Bulldog Equipment

Industry Loses an Innovator

Richard John McCann A Patriot and True American Richard J. McCann unexpectedly died on Friday the 13th of August, 2010. Richard was born on December 16, 1957 in Kaiserslautern, Germany to Joseph & Evelyn McCann. They returned to settle in Spanaway, Washington in 1959, where he graduated from Bethel High School in 1976. Richard is survived by his wife Debbie; daughters Shelby McCann; Ashley & Josh Strauss; and his mother Evelyn. He was affectionately known as “Papa” to granddaughters Hailey and Rieley. Also surviving are his brother Michael (Jann), his sister Marguerite (Mike), and nephew Christopher. In addition Richard is survived by stepson Chesley III (Webber) and family. Richard is survived by many close friends who are like family, too numerous to count (you know who you are.) Richard was preceded in death by his father Joseph. Richard was a consummate second generation gunsmith and machinist, widely respected in his field. He was well known throughout the world for his expertise, knowledge, skill and abilities. Richard was an innovative rifle and knife designer. His MIRS rails system is widely used by American war fighters as well as assorted government agencies, NATO forces and law enforcement agencies throughout the free world. Richard was a life member of the NRA and Washington Arms Collectors (WAC). At Richard’s request there will not be a funeral service. A celebration of his life will be Sunday, August 22 at 11:00. It is being held at 320 – 127th St. East, Tacoma. Pot luck of your choice. Formal/business attire not allowed, casual attire by Richards’ request (wear what Richard would wear,) We will all miss his unique sense of humor; style; devotion and dedication. RICHARD HAS LEFT THE RANGE!

Richard’s wife Debbie will be assuming the helm of the business.

GSS Gear Announces New Breed Of Warrior

Global Supply Solutions, LLC announces its “Show of Pride Celebrating a New Breed of Warrior” to be held September 10-11, 2010 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

New Breed of Warrior will provide access to the latest in operational equipment from industry leading vendors. Attendees from the military and federal, state and local agencies will be able to review the latest equipment and identify “must haves” for operational success, directly with the manufacturers. In addition to presentations on the show floor, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions on a variety of topics ranging from equipment solutions to operational preparedness.

New Breed of Warrior is being held in partnership with the Navy League of Hampton Road’s Show of Pride and News Channel 3 (WGNT CW27). The Show of Pride honors and celebrates the military in Hampton Roads. The event will feature a career fair for transitioning military and a special military marketplace featuring businesses with special offers and programs specifically for the military.

WPRC Adds 7 Members

The Warrior Protection and Readiness Coalition (the WPRC) continues to build momentum and is pleased to announce seven leaders of the Operational Clothing and Individual Equipment industry have joined its unified voice for operational readiness and warfighter safety.

As of August 1, 2010, Bates Footwear, Benchmade Knife Company, Bluewater Defense, Brookwood Companies Incorporated, Duro Textiles, LLC, Outdoor Research and Polartec, LLC are all members of the expanding WPRC. These companies will join with WPRC counterparts in the effort to educate leaders on issues of warfighter protection and guarantee adequate funding for the development and procurement of first class Operational Clothing and Individual Equipment for American warfighters.

Bates Footwear, Benchmade Knife Company, Bluewater Defense, Brookwood Companies Incorporated, Duro Textiles, Outdoor Research and Polartec, LLC collectively provide thousands of American manufacturing jobs and equip American warfighters with the clothing and gear required to complete their missions safely and successfully. Last week, the Colbert Report selected David H Brooks as the Alpha Dog of the Week. Conduct a web search for his name and you will see that no one seems to love Mr Brooks as much as Mr Brooks who is now infamous for his $100k belt buckle. The former head of defense contractor DHB is on trial for fraud and embezzlement.

Make Ready Forum

It’s not really a new forum, but it is a new look and feel for the popular EOTAC forum as it goes through a rebranding (not EOTAC, just the forum). All of the topics are still there but you will begin to see the breadth of info increase. Not being content with “just” on designing tactical clothing, the founder of EOTAC has a project in the works that Soldier Systems readers will like. More on that to follow soon. But in the mean time, he has re-launched the forum he previously started in preparation for the new project.
