13 NOV 13 // 21h15 Zulu – At long last, Grey Ghost Gear’s offering of packs built by the UK’s Karrimor SF is finally available! No longer will end users in the US need to order it from across the pond and have it shipped back here (or trade off some of their own kit to the Brits in a deployed location). We’ve got them on hand, in several types and multiple colors, with more to come.
Karrimor SF has been in existence since 1995. It is a direct descendent of the original Karrimor brand that has equipped British soldiers and adventurers since the end of WWII.
Based in Exeter (Devon, UK), Karrimor SF’s gear has fought insurgents and Taliban since OEF and OIF started; it has also literally climbed mountains, gone on safari or otherwise adventured on every continent in the world. The KSF brand was conceived by innovator and designer Deric Gollop and the KSF team, who used contemporary technologies and developments from the civilian world to build specialty packs for military Special Forces and law enforcement units—not unlike what Grey Ghost Gear has been doing here in the US.
“It was a natural fit,” says Grey Ghost Gear’s Director of Business Development Lindsey Lea. “It took nearly a year and a half to get it done, but the Karrimor SF packs are in stock and ready to ship—and so we’re clear, there’s no need to worry about quality. If having the UK’s forces torture test this stuff in Iraq and Afghanistan wasn’t sufficient, we’ve been abusing our own samples in the field. They are good to go.”
Grey Ghost Gear is the exclusive US distributor of Karrimor SF products. Their packs and LBE are built in Vietnam to exacting British MoD (Ministry of Defence) standards, supervised by KSF personnel who live on site. You can see the entire line of packs here.

Last week I stopped by SOFEX at Ft Bragg, North Carolina. While it remains a small, annual show in the Officers Club, I was pleased to see Integral Tactical still in attendance. They have long displayed their specialized clothing and shelters at this show.
Integral Designs was purchased from former owner Evan Jones by Fellfab early this year. I realized that although Integral has been around for ages, they are not well known. Many of their designs go back 20 years or more like the MK I Mountain Tent above and the Observer Shelter seen below. Both of these shelters feature, simple, straight forward designs. Additionally, Integral Tactical offers several shelter/tarp designs manufactured from ultralightweight 30D parachute Ripstop nylon, referred to as Sil fabric.
Several of the attendees at SOFEX also expressed interest in the Wind Shirt and Pants.
They are currently in talks with TLS vendors to introduce their line to a wider audience. While Integral Tactical is based at Fellfab’s headquarters in Ontario, Canada, Fellfab has manufacturing capacity here in the US to service Berry compliance, if needed.

Offered by the Italian specialty clothing manufacturer SOD Gear, the Operating Assault Suit (translated from Italian) is made from 50/50 NYCO. Granted, it’s not an optimized solution but NYCO is generally regarded as a lower coat no melt-no drip option rather than a full FR solution. But this was originally designed for an Italian customer and reflects their requirements.
It also features an elasticized neck and wrists as well as 2 chest and 2 sleeve pockets. Thee are upper and lower flat pockets on each leg. The flat construction helps mitigate snags. The waist is also elasticized with belt loops as well. Finally, the knees and elbows are reinforced with Cordura and feature removable padding.
We tried stopping by the Panacis booth a couple times during AUSA, but each time they were were swamped with meetings.
