Will Petty Joins 88 Tactical Cadre

88 Tactical, a Nebraska based training organization, is proud to announce the addition of Mr. Will Petty to the ranks of its nationally recognized instructor cadre. Petty, a longtime Law Enforcement Officer, has served both in patrol and a number of specialized assignments. Petty will be conducting courses not just at 88 Tactical’s range and lodge facility but elsewhere across the country and abroad. Most will be focused on (though not limited to) the unique challenges of Vehicle Close Quarters Battle — shooting in, around or through vehicles, including low- and no-light classes and instructor development programs like the one he recently established for the NYPD.

Says 88 Tactical’s Founder and HMFIC Shea Degan, “Since Thrasher (88 Tactical COO and serving 18Z Trevor Thrasher) and I first began our program we’ve worked to ensure everything we do is reality- and behavior based. All our classes, in fact our entire instructional ethos, is predicated on adrenalized, asymmetrical scenarios. William’s emphasis on contextual reality is a perfect extension of this. Nothing Will teaches is ‘square range based.’ He despises range lore for the institutional tradition it is. We are [expletive deleted] excited to have him.”

Petty began his LE career in New Mexico, eventually moving to Texas and spent 2-years on contract with the Critical National Infrastructure Authority in Abu Dhabi as a Counter Terrorism instructor for certain specialized units of the United Arab Emirates and other places. He’s been a rangemaster, defensive tactics instructor, ERT member and departmental competition shooting team member. Petty, who remains a Texas Tactical Police Officers Association instructor and serving reserve officer, joins an all-star roster of notable and internationally experienced instructors. Among them are former SF medic, combat diver and PSC contractor Nick Nowatney, former FBI Hostage Rescue Team Leader and DoJ Counter Terror expert Mike Sackett, veteran LEO and former counter-piracy PSC contractor Tim Fullmer, USAF SERE legend and Midwest School of Bushcraft Terry Barney and many more.

Specialized Chemical Ordnance Transport System for EOD

Streamlining Equipment for the Leak, Seal and Pack Evolution
UTS and ITS’ Interoperable Specialized Chemical Ordnance Transport System (SCOTS)

Department of Defense (DOD) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) warfare capabilities exist to locate, identify, render safe and transport unexploded chemical ordinance to specified locations. Across all branches of service, EOD technicians embrace the same basic evolution of “Leak, Seal and Pack.”

To address this mission requirement, commands would each develop their own Initial Entry Team (IET) kit, usually an expensive and cumbersome task with numerous variances from their other service counterparts. In short, the equipment used to accomplish the “leak, seal and pack” evolution was disjointed and varied from service to service. This somewhat hindered community effectiveness due interoperability issues. The question was, how to leverage EOD technician expertise, across services, in an attempt to mitigate variances in equipment and increase effectiveness. That’s when ADS got the phone call from United Tactical Supply (UTS) on behalf of the U.S. Navy EOD community. Recognizing that the issue was one of interoperability, standardization and effectiveness at a reasonable price, the partnership was designed to develop an adaptable kit, keeping the different requirements of the end-users in mind.

Feedback, knowledge, and real-world experiences from all U.S. EOD communities are at the core of the development of the Specialized Chemical Ordnance Transport System (SCOTS). Over the course of a year, we worked to identify EOD technician requirements, using them as a blueprint to develop a kit that addressed their concerns by using the latest products and technology in the industry. We filled the capability gaps, not just for the U.S. Navy’s EOD community, but also for all branches of the military. This kit is truly built by the EOD community, for the EOD community. Until the creation of the SCOTS kit, no standardized kit, with service-wide applicability, had existed.

“We at ADS, teamed up with UTS and the EOD end-use customers to develop a kit that could be used by every branch of service,” said Brad Riddick, special missions business development manager at ADS. “Whereas before, EOD teams had their own kits, the SCOTS kit filled the interoperability void perfectly.”

Each component has been carefully considered and evaluated, not only by EOD community expert technicians, but also by ADS and UTS experts. Some components include, activated carbon cloth technology, combined with a fully validated individual decontamination system. This technology not only aids sealing and containment of chemical rounds, it also allows for swift decontamination. The entire system is contained in a portable transport case, and can be tailored for multiple chemical round scenarios.

“We have fielded it [SCOTS] and, to date, everyone we fielded it to has given exceptionally positive feedback on it,” said Riddick. It’s applicable, cost-effective and suitable to the task at hand. It’s a win for everybody.”

The SCOTS is a combination of manufactured nylon components, vetted decontamination media and activated carbon cloth, in conjunction with procedures directly out of the EOD publications, that make this a total solution for the decontamination, sealing, containment and transport of chemical ordnance.

Veteran-Owned Rifle Shop Now Offers Slide Machining and Stippling

LaBelle, FL – August 25, 2015 – C&H Precision Weapons, manufacturers of the highest-quality custom-built precision rifles, have announced they have expanded their operations to include custom grip, slide and barrel machining work through the recent addition of their newest machinists, Chris Heinkel and Fierr ‘Kazz’ Castaneda.

Specializing in slide, barrel and grip modifications, Heinkel and Castaneda bring over six years of experience in machining to the company.

Castaneda, the son of internationally know Weapons and Tactics instructor, Cazz Castaneda, is a life-long shooter – having competed in USPSA matches since he was 7-years-old. He relocated to Fort Myers to serve as a project manager for Altair Training Solutions, and has been machining high tolerance tools for over five years.

Heinkel, an expert at stippling pistol grips, has a background in precision machining. Chris also has a background in security and corrections; having served as a Corrections Officer for both Charlotte and Suwanee county.

IWI US Announces New Commercial Sales Representative

Harrisburg, Pa. (August 2015) – IWI US, Inc., a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd., announces the addition of former law officer, Rebecca McCoy, to the position of commercial sales representative for IWI US. McCoy, a police academy graduate, brings with her eight years as a police officer and firearms instructor, six years with the Pennsylvania State Capitol Police Department (CPD) and was the only female member of the Special Response Team (SRT).
