ONTARIO, Calif. – Safariland congratulates team member Robert Vogel for his win at the 2015 IDPA World Championships. Held in Tulsa, OK over the weekend, Vogel is the Stock Service Pistol Division Champion placing first among 148 contenders. Using a Safariland Model 5198 Open Top holster, Model 032 ELS Competition Belt and Model 773 Competition Open Top Magazine Pouch to win, his time was just 192.76 seconds. Additionally, Vogel placed first ahead of 435 participants as the High Overall competitor for the entire match across all divisions.
Team Safariland members like Vogel are an integral part of the company’s product development process by regularly testing Safariland materials and products to ensure design and development. Having worked as a full time police officer and SWAT team member, as well as an elite level competitive shooter, Vogel is a world and national champion across three shooting disciplines.

A unique hiring event for soldiers, veteran military spouses will be part of the Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition in partnership with the American Freedom Foundation. The event will be held Oct. 12 to 14 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.
The “Warriors To The Workforce” hiring and training workshops event, presented by IVET and GES, is part of the American Freedom Foundation’s nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning military service members and military spouses find meaningful employment.
The event will include workshops featuring some of the top speakers in the country providing resources and information for veterans, transitioning military and military spouses. Presentations will include topics such as mental readiness, confidence building, networking and presentation skills, resume writing, interviewing techniques, job searching, career planning through goal setting, translating military skills and training into civilian life and corporate experience, among others.
New this year, Resume Review, presented by Veterans Staffing Network Easter Seals’ Veterans Staffing Network, is coordinating HR professionals to be on site to advise attendees on their resumes.
Attendees will also be able to see four-time Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Vietnam veteran, Rocky Bleier, on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and two-time Super Bowl champion with the Washington Redskins, Dexter Manley, on Wednesday Oct. 14 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Military Benefit Association exhibit area.
Today, SilencerCo has announced the release of four new products likely to gain the attention of suppressor fans worldwide. At an industry event held in Key West, Florida, and dubbed “Maxim Vice”, SilencerCo demonstrated the new lineup of products. The company is producing the first internally suppressed 9mm pistol that is commercially viable, a universal suppressor that will fit virtually all common firearms, and a new user configurable .22 Osprey variant. SilencerCo Weapons Research, their new technologies branch, has announced the department’s first product, The Radius laser range finder.
WEST VALLEY CITY, UT – September 16th, 2015 – Furthering their reputation for constant innovation in firearm sound suppression, SilencerCo today released four new silencers, and a weapons mountable laser range finder under their SWR line. Of the new products, the Maxim 9 handgun with internal suppressor is the boldest departure from the company’s usual offerings.
The Maxim 9 Pistol
While the ATF is still without ruling, this new 9mm handgun may begin to ship early 2016 with only one serial number, as the suppressor is permanently attached to the firearm. The prototypes shown are near completion, with a final production version nearing manufacture. SilencerCo claims that the Maxim 9 will be a duty-grade handgun which will match current service pistols in accuracy and reliability, all while being hearing safe with all commercially loaded ammunition. The company plans to team up with Raven Concealment Systems, to provide a series of holsters for the new pistol. There will likely be a few cosmetic changes to the Maxim 9, to include a change to the lower frame. Currently, the Maxim 9 uses a highly modified Smith & Wesson M&P receiver as the fire control group, but there is a strong possibility that the company will uses a proprietary design with a commonly available magazine for the production version. Specs are not out yet, nor a price as the company finishes the weapon’s evolution. Further updates will be given in January 2016.
The Hybrid Silencer
The Hybrid is a lightweight, user configurable silencer built to fit nearly every rifle and pistol in your collection. The Hybrid can be configured for all common calibers, from all small bore and handgun rounds, to larger and heavier calibers such as magnum rounds such as .300 Winchester mag, .458 SOCOM, and even .45-70. The can has a 7.6″ overall length, and will allow the user to select the appropriate rear attachment, depending on which host firearm it will be installed. The Hybrid uses caliber-specific front caps to tighten the last aperture the projectile passes, helping reduce the decibel rating to that caliber. In some calibers, this is the most quiet suppressor SilencerCo has ever built. The Hybrid is compatible with many existing SilencerCo front and rear accessories, which should be a relief to those already using their flash hiders, breaks, and front caps. This design will likely be favored by those new to the class 3 market, and those needing a silencer for less common calibers. Price and availability will be announced in January 2016.
The Osprey Micro
The Osprey Micro takes the style of SilencerCo’s centerfire handgun cans, and pairs it with the adaptability of their Salvo-12 shotgun suppressor. The Osprey Micro ships in its 4.6″ OAL configuration, but can be shorted quickly and easily by the user to reduce the length to an impressively short 3.1″. The longer configuration weighs in at 6.1 oz., while the shorty setup weighs a scant 4.3 oz. The silencer is hearing safe in either configuration, which is surprising for such a short can. The Osprey Micro ships with a rapid detach adapter, and can be used on all rimfire rifles and handguns. Full auto rated, the Osprey Micro can handle .22 WMR, and the .17 series of rimfire cartridges. The squared off design common to the Osprey family of silencers, allows for a flat sight plane with no need for specialty raised sights. Listed with a $599 price tag, the Osprey Micro ships in October 2015 to dealers everywhere. The short length of the Osprey Micro lends to the desire to reholster pistols with the can installed, and SilencerCo will have a series of special holsters offered for popular pistol models from a partnerships with Raven Concealment Systems.
Located in Austin, TX, SilencerCo Weapons Research has launched its first technology-driven product, The Radius. Previously, we had said for consumers to anticipate products that will enhance their shooting experience and bring into civilian reach capabilities that were formerly only available to Government end users. The Radius is a laser range finder that provides a lightweight, rugged package that is weapons mountable and waterproof. The Radius can be “zeroed” to your firearm quickly and easily using a slaved Visible laser, and then blocked off for those wishing to use the unit for hunting. The primary IR laser can gather distance information in meters or yards, out to one mile. The Radius has easy-to-use controls, and a prepositional read out display, which can be set for the 9, 12, or 3 o’clock positions. This allows the user to pick the ideal place for mounting the LRF when selecting different firearms to use. Waterproof to one meter, and operationally affected by few weather conditions, The Radius can be used in the rain and over bodies of water. When it is left in a continuous ranging mode, it can provide instant readings for up to 12 hours on two standard CR123 batteries. Alternatively, it can be remotely fired via a pressure pad down lead. The Radius range finder will be offered for pre-sale starting today, and ships next month for an MSRP of under one thousand dollars.

Casualty handling on the battlefield is critical to maintaining moral. To achieve this not only is excellent training needed but also a high quality ambulance fit out. Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group has developed a range of stretcher systems to be fitted into armoured ambulances and will be discussing these during DSEI 2015 on stand S3-310.
The systems have been developed based on the proven experience of supplying stretcher solutions for a range of armoured ambulances in service across Europe and over 800 stretcher systems for the ubiquitous Land Rover Ambulance which has been in service around the world for over 40 years with the British and other Armies.

7 September 2015: QinetiQ is to develop an electric hub-drive to improve survivability and mobility of future military ground vehicles for the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
The contract, worth $1.5m with an option for a further $2.7m, is part of DARPA’s Ground X-Vehicle Technologies (GXV-T) programme. Under this programme, participants will investigate technologies that could help to significantly improve capability in the next generation of vehicles.
QinetiQ’s hub-drive seeks to improve mobility through enhanced power, torque, integral braking and high efficiency, in a unit that can be contained within a 20” wheel rim. It aims to increase survivability by removing drive shafts and gearboxes, which can become lethal to occupants in the event of an IED detonation beneath the vehicle. The absence of these components could also reduce weight and open up future design possibilities, such as fully independent suspension with significantly increased travel.
Dr David Moore, Director of Research Services at QinetiQ, said: “Like cavalry horses throughout history, vehicles risk becoming less mobile as they are loaded with more armour and weaponry to meet the evolving demands of warfare. Our hub-drive tackles that threat by combining optimum performance with a significant weight saving, which is critical for mobility. It also introduces a far greater degree of architectural flexibility, enabling vehicles to be configured in ways which offer greater protection to their occupants.

MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 8, 2015) — Polaris Defense and Polaris Britain Ltd., divisions of Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), are displaying a full line up of highly mobile, tactical air transportable vehicles at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) show Sept. 15-18 in London. Polaris will be showing its newest production vehicle, DAGOR, along with the well-established MRZR and MV850 vehicle platforms. These vehicles are in service worldwide in more than 20 countries, which streamlines service and support and provides a high degree of interoperability and commonality among allied forces.

DAGOR was specifically designed for light infantry, expeditionary and special operations forces. It is easily transported by tactical air, carries enough payload to be mission effective and carries full payload (1,474 kg) in extreme off-road terrain. DAGOR meets those requirements in a robust and modular off-road vehicle platform that can be configured to carry up to nine soldiers with full kit. By traversing more concealed and unpredictable routes over terrain usually traveled on foot, DAGOR allows Warfighters to move quickly to the objective with mission-critical equipment. DAGOR is supported with a COTS supply chain, anywhere in the world, making it easy to use and easy to maintain, even when deployed.
The vehicle curb weight is less than 2,041 kg (4,500 lbs) to maximize tactical aircraft operational range. The width of DAGOR facilitates rapid loading into the CH-47 platform – without modification – and the weight allows it to be sling loaded under the UH-60 and NATO helicopters with similar lift capabilities. The vehicle has completed certification testing for CH-47 Internal Air Transport (IAT), air drop and UH-60 Sling Load. DAGOR is currently under contract with U.S. and allied Special Forces.
The MRZR 2 and MRZR 4 are highly mobile off-road platforms that are internally transportable in a variety of U.S. and allied military aircraft and can be configured a number of ways to help expeditionary forces meet mission requirements for emerging threats, while forward deployed. Some common tactical features of these off-road platforms include increased payload, standard winch, electronic power steering, aircraft tie-downs, fold down rollover protective structures (ROPS), large cargo boxes, IR light capability and blackout mode.
