Replenishment for Air Defence: Rheinmetall Delivers 35mm-Ammunition forAnti-Aircraft Gun Gepard to Ukraine

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has commissioned Rheinmetall to deliver additional 35mm ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft gun. The new order comprises 180,000 rounds of HEI-T ammunition (High Explosive Incendiary with Tracer) and was booked in December of 2024. The order value is in the high double-digit million euro range and is being funded by Germany. Already in February of 2023, Rheinmetall received an order to supply 300,000 rounds of Gepard ammunition to Ukraine.

The ordered ammunition can be used to effectively re-fight various airborne targets, such as drones. It will be produced at Rheinmetall’s site in Unterlüß. Due to the increased demand for 35mm ammunition, the production line at the site was rebuilt at great expense in a very short time in the spring of 2023.

Until today, the Federal Republic of Germany has handed over a total of 55 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine, which had been decommissioned by the Bundeswehr. There, they have proven their value in air defense for more than two years.

Rheinmetall has also supplied the attacked country with various state-of-the-art air defense systems such as Skynex, using the programmable AHEAD airburst ammunition. It also comes with an aggressive stippled texture straight from the factory. removing the need for aftermarket services and could save the owner some costs.

The grip angle has been improved to be more similar to that of a 1911, creating a significantly more natural point of aim compared to OEM frames which are often known to make shooters uncomfortably push their wrists forward and downwards to properly aim. There is also an extended beaver tail — its extended length is designed to protect the shooting hand from slide bites even for the largest of hands.

Whether users are right or left-handed, as they wrap their hands around the Compact Frame they’ll find that the double undercut around the trigger guard and oversized scalloped areas for the thumb create an extremely comfortable and ergonomic experience. To reduce the chance of accidentally engaging the slide lock lever there is a raised shelf that is stippled which doubles as a great area for the support hand’s thumb to rest on. Towards the front of the frame there are also Dynamic Control™ cuts on both sides designed for maximum recoil control.

With an integrated flared magwell there is a larger surface area to aid in quick and smooth insertions — its subdued design makes the frame still comfortable and possible to conceal carry without risk of overly printing. Attach whatever weapon mounted light, laser, or other accessory you like with the full length picatinny rail.

Vector The Emergency Urban Egress Kit from CTOMS

CTOMS™ has developed an emergency egress kit for urban operators. The Vector™ Kit was designed to be so small, lightweight, and unobtrusive, that you would not even know you are carrying it. Yet it provides a critical egress capability from an urban elevated position that would otherwise be dangerous or impossible to conduct.

The kit allows rapid anchorage of the rope into wood frame, cinder, and plaster construction. The stock 20m rope should allow egress from up to the fifth floor depending on floor heights and interior depth of the anchor. Longer lengths may be possible for special circumstances.

The Vector™ can work in conjunction with a CTOMS™ M3 belt and harness system. Wearing just the M3 gun belt, with the harness and Vector™ stowed, operators can rapidly don the harness and deploy the egress kit in a bail-out situation.
