DroneShield Launches Area-Specific Satellite Denial Systems

Thursday, August 10th, 2023

DroneShield Ltd (ASX:DRO) (DroneShield or the Company) is pleased to announce launch and initial order from a Defence customer for its target area-specific Satellite Denial Systems.

There are multiple Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) used around the world – the U.S. GPS being the most known, alongside of the Russian GLONASS, the Chinese BeiDou and the European Galileo system.

DroneShield has used GNSS denial against drones/UAVs for number of years as part of smart defeat capability within its products.  The Company has developed a number of unique techniques during that time and has a growing reputation as experts in this domain. Importantly, DroneShield systems work on focussing the disruption on a specific targeted area.

A FVEY government (FVEY, or Five Eyes, refers to U.S., UK, Canada, Australia and NZ) has requested that DroneShield develops this capability to the next level with a paid R&D project, expected to be followed by a series of further projects, each project including more advanced development of the system.  The dollar value is not material for the initial project, but it is an area of expansion that is likely to become material in the next 24 months.

DroneShield’s CEO, Oleg Vornik, commented: “DroneShield has proven a successful ability to rapidly innovate and deliver on defence R&D contracts, as recently demonstrated in our Electronic Warfare domain efforts, where the Company has progressed from the initial $600k project, to $3.8 million, to $9.9 million, all within a 3-year period.”

“Both Electronic Warfare and Satellite Denial represent closely adjacent areas to our core C-UAS space, with the learnings able to be channelled into our C-UAS work, in addition to the contracts on their own representing value for the business.”

Finnish Brutality Gathers Practical Shooters from Around the World

Thursday, August 10th, 2023

Varusteleka’s Finnish Brutality will be organized for the sixth time at the Loppi shooting center in Finland on Aug 19 and 20, 2023. This international competition sold out in a few seconds. The idea behind Finnish Brutality is that the shooters need to be able to perform even under physical duress.

Created by Finnish military and outdoor store Varusteleka and online video program InRange TV, the Finnish Brutality shooting competition will see its sixth iteration at the Loppi shooting center in Southern Finland. This international competition gathers contestants from all around the globe. A total of 160 shooters will participate in the competition, 50 of which will shoot in the pre-match and work as Range Officers during the main match. Tickets were sold out in 10 seconds this year.

Brutality matches are known for challenging the contestants’ marksmanship in unconventional and stressful situations, such as shooting from a trench filled with cold water, from a moving vehicle, or immediately after physically challenging tasks.

The competition is also very popular among the YouTube community. The social media stars Forgotten Weapons and Administrative Results from the US, Polenar Tactical from Slovenia, and many other influencers will take part in Finnish Brutality.

This year, the stages have been designed to be even more brutal and challenging than before. Last year, the contestants of the Recon division had to run 2 miles between each stage. This year, it has been replaced by the Breacher category, where the shooters must perform a variety of physical challenges between stages in full combat gear.

Brutality matches were born in 2018 as a collaboration between Varusteleka and InRange TV. The first Brutality match was Desert Brutality in Arizona, soon followed by Finnish Brutality in Finland. Over the years, new Brutality matches have been arranged in various locations – in 2022, Lynx Brutality saw the light of day in Slovenia, and Woodland Brutality was arranged for the first time in the US.

Media representatives are warmly welcome at Finnish Brutality 2023. We ask that you contact toni.suokas@varusteleka.com or jenny.koskimaki@varusteleka.com a few days beforehand. Please bring your own eye and ear protection.

The rules and more info about the event can be found on Varusteleka’s website

UVision Air Announces The Hero-120 Loitering Munition Successfully Meets Winter Battlefield Requirements in The Arctic Region

Thursday, August 10th, 2023

Proven capabilities were demonstrated during evaluation test flights in the region
August 09, 2023 – UVision Air Ltd. – a global leader in Loitering Munition systems of all sizes for a variety of missions announces that its Hero-120 Loitering Munition system has successfully proven to meet the demanding combat requirements of the Arctic winter while completing a series of flight-missions in the Arctic region as part of a field-evaluation under extreme winter environmental conditions.

Attended by representatives from several leading defense forces with arctic warfare capabilities, this evaluation was the concluding phase of a lengthy process, which included earlier test flights in the region, as well as extensive laboratory environmental tests, simulating the extreme temperatures, winds, and humidity conditions of the arctic winter.

The Hero-120 LM can carry a multi-purpose warhead with both Anti-Tank and Anti-personnel capabilities. During the evaluation the advanced loitering munition system was successfully tested in both day and night missions for operating in challenging conditions, including extreme low temperatures, heavy snow, strong winds, humidity, ice-forming flight conditions, low clouds, and limited visibility. The evaluation found the Hero-120 effective in combat situations in the Arctic environment, and compliant with unique storage and transportation requirements.

The harsh-weather operation effectiveness addresses not only the specific needs of military forces operating in the Arctic, but also the broader north and east of Europe.

“Completing the process of adapting our systems to the harsh climate of the Arctic winter is a significant milestone towards the widespread adoption of the HERO Loitering Munitions by European and NATO defence forces , says Major General (ret.) Avi Mizrachi, CEO of UVision.  “The conflict in Ukraine has led the world’s leading armies to understand that they need to be prepared for any scenario and has raised their level of interest in combat-proven, reliable, and robust loitering munitions such as the HERO family”, he added.

FN Announced Expansion of .22LR Pistol Offerings with New MRD Model

Thursday, August 10th, 2023

(McLean, VA  – August 10, 2023) Following the extremely successful launch of the optics-ready FN 502 Tactical, FN America, LLC is pleased to announce the expansion of its .22LR offerings with the all-new FN 502 MRD. The company released its first rimfire in 2021, the FN 502 Tactical, setting the bar high for future rimfire releases. However, none can best the fact that the FN 502 is the first purpose-built .22LR pistol designed for high round count training sessions while delivering maximum fun on the range.

“When we first started the development of the FN 502 platform, our goal was to up the ante for quality and versatility in a new rimfire pistol, applying our expertise in factory milled optics-ready slides, suppressor-ready barrels, and professional-quality triggers, some of the most sought after benefits in the FN 509 and FNX pistol product lines. We truly set a high bar for the industry,” said Chris Cole, Vice President of Sales for FN America, LLC. “The MRD model is the natural evolution of the FN 502 platform, allowing users to add a red dot, and make the most of the exceptional trigger. The MRD model offers another high-performance .22LR pistol for our customer base who value affordable quality in their rimfire pistols.”

The FN 502 MRD shares the same optics mounting system as the Tactical model that was inspired by the company’s patented Low-Profile Optics-Mounting System. Compatible with multiple micro red dot optics, users are able to swap out the MRD insert plates with integrated sights depending on their optic of choice, and be ready for a fun-filled range day within minutes.

The hammer-fired FN 502, with its best-in-class single-action trigger, performs like a robust-style target pistol, delivering fast, accurate rounds on target with more versatility than any other rimfire on the market. It offers superior ergonomics inspired by the grip profile of the FN 509 family of pistols and delivers the perfect balance between slide and frame along with fully ambidextrous controls.

Designed for maximum fun, FN’s hammer-fired .22 LR delivers more accuracy and versatility than any other rimfire handgun. Mounting a favorite red dot optic and cycling a wide range of .22 LR ammo makes a low-cost range day a high-end experience.

The FN 502 MRD ships with two 10-round flush-fit magazines along with the necessary plates to mount compatible micro red dot optics. Due to its similarity in muzzle and trigger guard dimensions to the FN 509, the FN 502 MRD will fit in most FN 509 holsters.
