Comp-Tac Releases CT3 Level III Duty Holster

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021

HOUSTON, TX – November 2, 2021 – Comp-Tac® releases an optics and light compatible, Level III Duty Holster – The CT3™.

The CT3 is designed so the user can deactivate the three levels of retention while maintaining their master grip. The intuitive release mechanism equals economy of motion, faster, more consistent draws and less training time.  The three level of retention are the hood, automatic ejection port lock and friction retention, to prevent unintentional removal of your handgun. The CT3 activation lever releases the hood when pressed, and only releases the ejection port lock when held down during the draw. These features, combined with Comp-Tac’s unique and masterful approach to holster body construction, give the CT3 unparalleled fit, security, and draw speed. A variety of mounting options are available including drop offset, mid-ride belt, SQR (Secure Quick Release), PLM (Push-Button Locking Mount), and an adaptor plate for QLS system.

“The CT3 is the result of two years of design, testing and partnership between Comp-Tac and multiple departments and members of the law enforcement community,” explained Gordon Carrell general manager of Comp-Tac. “For years, Comp-Tac has been a leading supplier of concealed carry and off duty equipment. We wanted to be able to take the skills that we have acquired and the relationships we have built in the industry to offer a solution for the men and women on the front lines of our law enforcement, military and all users wanting multiple levels of retention.”

You can watch the official product videos for the CT3™ at youtu.be/So_qqwvsBCw and CT3™ Official Product Video

In addition to the CT3 Holster, Comp-Tac® has also released the CT2™ Series of holsters. The CT2-A™ Holster offers two levels of retention with an ejection port lock that automatically locks when the weapon is holstered along with friction retention. A safety shroud assists in concealing the activation lever to provide an additional layer of safety and security. Designed using super durable Kydex®, the CT2-A Holster has numerous mounting options.

The CT2-H™ Holster uses both a hood and friction providing two levels of retention. The safety shroud assists in concealing the activation level for the user’s safety and the safety of others. Friction retention screws can be adjusted for a secure hold around the trigger guard and muzzle. Aircraft-grade Kydex® is strategically formed to restrict any undesired movement also known as “holster rattle” while the weapon is holstered. The CT2-H is designed with the user in mind for safety, security, and superior all-day-wear comfort.

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021

CRKT is proud to unveil the Clever Girl™ Kukri fixed blade from designer and veteran Austin McGlaun, bringing about the third variation in the Clever Girl lineup and the newest member to CRKT’s Forged by War® program.

During his time stationed at Fort Polk while serving in the military, knifemaker Austin McGlaun was inspired to find new ways to tackle laborious camp chores. Equipped with a high-performance 7.75” SK-5 carbon steel blade and sturdy G10 handle, this reimagined version still brandishes a mighty swing, despite being more compact than its predecessor. McGlaun also notes the appeal that the Kukri has for backpackers.

“It’ll do any job that an ax will do, but it will also do any job that a knife will do. And when you’re looking at backpacking, ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain”, says McGlaun. “You can chop firewood, build shelters, cut limbs and stakes, skin game or process game with it, protect yourself… It has more outdoor versatile uses than any other design of mine.”

Carolina Ballistic Selects Honeywell SPECTRA Fiber for New Civilian Armored Vehicles

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021

• Ultra-strong, lightweight fiber incorporated into design of new civilian armored  vehicles in Latin America

• Mexican company first to manufacture Spectra fiber-based fabric for civilian vehicles

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J., Nov. 3, 2021 — Honeywell today announced Carolina Ballistic, a leading global manufacturer of ballistic materials, will use Honeywell’s Spectra fiber in the design and manufacture of new ballistic panels for civilian armor vehicles in Latin America, meeting a regional need for armored civilian vehicles that are lightweight but provide increased protection. The new Spectra Ballistic Panels will be on display at ExpoSeguridad in Mexico City (November 2- November 4).

Spectra fiber, an ultra-strong, yet lightweight fiber made from ultra-high molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), is incorporated into Carolina Ballistic Armortec portfolio of products, providing multi-hit ballistic protection against a wide range of threats.

In Latin America, which has the largest number of armored civilian vehicles worldwide, there is a growing need for fortified vehicles that are resistant to various external threats. Lightweight armor allows vehicles to have better maneuvering, agility, and acceleration. In addition, low weight armor increases fuel mileage and reduces component stress and rollovers.

“As a specialist in body armor, vehicle armor and advanced material solutions for civil, military and law enforcement applications, we have provided Latin American and worldwide militaries and citizens with the highest level of protection with our products for more than 12 years” said Alvaro Fuentes Quintana, Carolina Ballistic Director. “By incorporating Spectra fiber into our ballistics materials portfolio, we can introduce new ballistic solutions for civilian vehicles that are designed specifically to protect against high velocity rifles threats.”

Spectra fiber is also incorporated into Honeywell’s Spectra Shield® technology for use in advanced armor applications. Honeywell’s Spectra Shield and Gold Shield® products have been widely adopted and proven for the most advanced armor applications globally, from bullet-resistant vests, breast plates, and helmets, to combat vehicles and military aircraft where lightweight solutions and performance are critical. Honeywell’s Shield technology is also capable of combining a variety of aramid fibers and resins to meet specific performance requirements in soft and hard armor applications.

“Armor solutions using UHMWPE have become the systems of choice for various applications. For military-grade armored vehicles, Honeywell’s Spectra fiber has provided a high-performing solution to withstand increased threats seen in combat for years,” said Tim Swinger, general manager for armor, Honeywell Life Sciences & Protection Industries. “By applying the same technology to civilian-grade armored vehicles, we can deliver next-generation armor to civilians and meet the demand for low-weight vehicles that provide the highest protection levels to occupants.”

Pound for pound, Spectra fiber is 15 times stronger than steel, yet light enough to float. Spectra fiber is made from UHMWPE using a patented gel-spinning process. Spectra Shield technology is a patented Honeywell process designed to optimize the ballistic performance characteristics of Spectra as well as aramid fiber.

Honeywell maintains an active Spectra fiber and ballistic materials research program focused on continuous improvement and development of high-performance materials. For more information about Spectra fiber, visit industrial.honeywell.com/us/en/products/high-strength-fibers

XS Sights Introduces Night Sights for Taurus GX4

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021

Fort Worth, Texas (November 2, 2021) – XS® Sights, manufacturer of the fastest sights in any light, is now offering a wide variety of its popular night sights for the new Taurus® GX4™ micro-compact 9mm pistol. These line extensions are also available for the Taurus G3c.

XS sights give shooters an advantage 24/7 thanks to the company’s proprietary sight technology. XS’s photoluminescent Glow Dot surrounds the tritium vial in the front sight and activates even before the tritium does, giving defensive shooters an edge in any light, day or night.

DXT2 Big Dot

The Big Dot leads the industry in size and has a self-illuminating tritium center surrounded by XS’s photoluminescent Glow Dot technology which drives focus to the front sight. The Big Dot is available in Optic Yellow or Optic Orange. The DXT2 Standard Dot is available in Green. All DXT2 sights feature a V-notch rear with vertical tritium stripe, creating a dot-the-“i” sight picture and eliminating the possibility of confusing the front and rear sights in high-stress situations.

R3D

The R3D has a traditional 3-dot tritium, notch and post sight picture. The rear sight is blacked out to increase contrast against the front sight which is available in bright Orange or Green. The brightly colored Glow Dot in the front sight is a much brighter color which differentiates the front tritium dot from the two rear tritium dots.

Minimalist

The minimalist has a self-illuminating tritium vial in the front sight surrounded by an Orange photoluminescent Glow Dot and blacked-out, serrated, non-tritium rear sight.

DXW2

DXW2 tritium night sights are available with a Big Dot (Orange or Yellow) or Standard Dot (Green) front sight with a white stripe, non-tritium rear sight. The white stripe offers superior visibility of the vertical bar, which aids in sight alignment in bright light settings and performs well in low light. The increased surface area of the white stripe also enhances visibility for shooters with farsighted vision issues.

Choose the XS sights that best suit your eyes and get on target faster in any light – day or night.

For more information, visit www.xssights.com.

All XS sights are backed by a 10-year, No Questions Asked Warranty and XS’s 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee.
