New 30 Super Carry Added to Line of HST Ammunition from Federal

Monday, April 18th, 2022

ANOKA, Minnesota – April 12, 2022 – Federal Ammunition proudly offers a 100-grain HST Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) load to one of the biggest new handgun cartridge introductions in decades: the 30 Super Carry. The new 30 Super Carry cartridge bridges the largest performance gap in handgun self-defense ammunition. Check with your local ammo store for availability.

Penetrating performance and magazine capacity are major considerations when choosing a firearm platform for self-defense. Traditionally, users have had to choose between a smaller platform with reduced bullet performance or a larger platform to carry more rounds, while carrying a larger overall firearm. The 30 Super Carry has better terminal performance than a 380 and as much muzzle energy as a 9mm, all with a .312-inch projectile. Users will see performance similar to 9mm Luger with slightly less recoil and additional magazine capacity.

“We are excited to add this new HST Personal Defense handgun load to our overall lineup. A big advantage of the 30 Super Carry is that users get more performance from this offering without having to step up to a larger firearm,” said Jesse Whiteside, Federal’s Senior Director of Product Management. “The 30 Super Carry can hold 12 to 13 rounds in a magazine similar to the size of a 10-round 9mm Luger. Combine these performance features with Federals’ proven HST bullet, and this creates an excellent self-defense option.”

The Federal HST bullet design is matched with the 30 Super Carry for maximum performance. The specially engineered hollow point is designed for deep penetration and larger expansion. To fight against corrosion, the 30 Super Carry uses a nickel-plated case. This makes the HST Super Carry an ideal choice for personal defense scenarios.

Kokopelli Re-Launches Full Kevlar X-Series Packrafts

Sunday, April 17th, 2022

The Colorado-based manufacturer of lightweight and packable inflatable packrafts, Kokopelli, has returned its full Kevlar X-Series Packrafts. Available again with a re-launch of the Nirvana Self-Bailing X and Rogue-Lite X.

Designed as packrafts, the X-Series boats offer the best of both worlds, being stronger than their TPU constructed packrafts and lighter than the PVC ones while adding the DuPont Kevlar used for the flooring into the sidewalls for increased durability, rigidity and strength.

Kokopelli has also included Leafield D7 valves, used on most commercial whitewater rafts, and an automatic pressure relief valve to ensure proper PSI remains ideal regardless of the water conditions.

Consumers can add TiZip storage, allowing inner pontoon access to keep essential gear dry for multi-day trips. The Rogue-Lite X compresses down to the size of a paper towel roll, while the Nirvana Self-Bailing X can roll into the size of a sleeping bag with a class I-IV rating on rivers.

“The X-series boats truly elevate packrafts to a whole new level. Never before has there been such a perfect mix of durability, packability and performance in a lightweight package,” said Kokopelli General

Manager Jeff Popp. With these boats, you get similar durability to a hard-shell kayak at a fraction of the weight. The added ability to pack it and take it places you’d never be able to take a kayak is icing on the cake.”

The D7 valves on these boats also include a lifetime warranty, while the TiZip zipper includes a one-year warranty.

“As a whitewater kayaker, this is the closest performance to a traditional hard shell I’ve ever experienced, and I can put it in my backpack,” said Zach Patterson of Kokopelli.

The MANA, like its predecessors, is presented on a full-size Colt Classic 1911 Series 70 .38 Super, now in a polished stainless-steel frame, slide and accents. The high polished silver national matched barrel has 24 karat gold plated and high polished selective hardware with etched motifs inspired by Polynesian Ethos. Complemented by a diamond-studded factory front staked sight, the MANA comes with a newly debuted super bright white ivory polymer engraved grip.

MANA is defined as the spiritual life’s forces of energy or healing power that permeates the universe. In the Polynesian culture, anyone can have MANA as it’s a cultivation or possession of energy and power. The quality of MANA is not limited to individuals, people, governments, and places. Inanimate objects may also possess MANA.

“We honored the Polynesian worldview of MANA, by launching the second part of this Warrior Life designer collection,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Customs. “To have MANA implies influence, authority and efficacy and an ability to perform in a given situation. A Colt 1911 embodies this spirit, even as an inanimate object.”

The MANA comes with a limited-edition series number from 001 of 200 etched in 24 karat gold behind the right-side serrations. The MANA in stainless is the third series in the Polynesian Warrior Inspired Limited-Edition Designer Series with the HAKA in stainless to follow.

EW-Resistant Air-Ground Comms with New Multi-Band Tracking Antenna

Thursday, April 14th, 2022

New Persistent Systems tracking antenna can operate on two RF bands at once, delivering improved robustness and tracking aircraft without GPS
For Immediate Release

NEW YORK, N.Y. – April 13, 2022 – Persistent Systems, LLC (“Persistent”), an industry leader in mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) technology, announced today the release of its new Multi-Band Tracking Antenna for improved ground-based communication with, and tracking of, friendly manned and unmanned aircraft—even in hostile RF- and GPS-denied environments.

The Multi-Band Tracking Antenna can find and follow aircraft without relying on a satellite-based tracking system like GNSS or GPS. This new capability ensures that connectivity with ISR aircraft can be maintained even when these systems are disrupted, denied, or spoofed.

“This is a game-changer. Now connectivity is maintained even when an enemy is actively denying us access to GPS,” said Ben Wring, Senior Program Engineer at Persistent Systems. “The tracking system remains locked onto the aircraft and mission data continues to flow without disruption.”

The tracking antenna system can now mount two MPU5 MANET radios, each operating on a different radio frequency (RF) band. When encountering interference, the system will automatically utilize the band delivering the maximum performance. This is critical given the threat of electronic warfare (EW) from near-peer adversaries.

“By operating on multiple RF bands, you can communicate through adversarial interference,” added Wring. “Whether they deny GPS or attack our transmission directly, the system will maintain connectivity.”

The system comes with a single multi-band/multi-polarity antenna feed. There is no need to change the feed when changing RF bands—one single feed covers L-, S-, and C-Bands. The feed also has independent horizontal and vertically polarized inputs, enabling polarization diversity and maximizing MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) radio capacity.

The Multi-Band Tracking Antenna supports simultaneous use of an MPU5 with a third-party radio. The third-party radio benefits from the tracker’s ability to operate in GPS denied environments and transmits to the platform over the same multi-band antenna feed horn.

“Like its predecessor, the new antenna system is easily deployable and has a range over 120 miles,” Wring said. “The new system is currently shipping to customers, and an upgrade kit is available to customers with the existing antenna kit.”
