SIG SAUER CROSS Bolt-Action Rifle Receives Innovation of the Year, and the P320 XFIVE LEGION Receives Handgun of the Year at 2020 Industry Choice Awards

The Industry Choice Awards are awarded to manufacturers based upon a comprehensive independent evaluation by industry experts including competitive shooters, trainers, enthusiasts, law enforcement personnel, and retail associates for fit, form, finish, and functionality.

SIG SAUER was the recipient of the following 2020 Industry Choice Awards:

2020 Frank Desomma Innovation of the Year Industry Choice Award – SIG SAUER CROSS Bolt-Action Rifle: The SIG SAUER CROSS features a precision free-floating stainless-steel barrel fitted to a one-piece aluminum receiver, with no need for bedding or action screws, to deliver extreme accuracy; an aluminum M-LOK™ handguard for quick and easy attachment of bipods, rails, night-vision or thermal clip-on optics; familiar AR-15 styled controls for a seamless transition to the CROSS platform; a unique two-stage match-grade trigger that can be adjusted from 2 to 4.5lbs, and AICS pattern magazines for the ultimate compatibility across calibers, platforms, cartridges, and loads. 2020 Handgun of the Year Industry Choice Award – P320 XFIVE LEGION: The SIG SAUER P320 XFIVE LEGION is a 9mm striker-fired pistol, with the TXG tungsten infused heavy XGrip module, a Legion Gray PVD Slide with lightening cuts, 5” match grade bull barrel, and a lightened and skeletonized trigger. The recoil assembly of the P320 XFIVE Legion has been upgraded to include a one-piece stainless steel guide rod and a 14lb. 1911-style spring, plus an extra 12lb. spring, allowing the end user to easily adjust the recoil spring for a customized shooting experience. Brownells Releases Gen2 BRN-180 Uppers, Including 300 AAC Blackout

GRINNELL, Iowa (August 10, 2020) – Brownells announced the next generation of its popular BRN-180 uppers, including the much-anticipated version chambered in 300 AAC Blackout, perfect for use with a suppressor.

Launched at SHOT Show 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the BRN-180 uppers combine features of the classic AR-180 with modern upgrades such as a full-length Picatinny rail and a free-float M-LOK handguard.

All BRN-180 Gen2 uppers are ideal for folding stocks or braces as the recoil mechanism is totally contained inside the upper.

The BRN-180 Gen2 updates include a new method of securing the handguard and adjustable gas blocks for all barrel lengths to optimize suppressor use.

Qore Performance Releases IcePlate Sleeve

STERLING, VA – August 7, 2020 – Qore Performance recently released the latest addition to their IceAge Ecosystem: IcePlate Sleeve. IcePlate Sleeve replaces the popular, but now retired, IcePlace MOLLE Sleeve Flex as the accessory pouch for IcePlate Curve, the only multi-purpose cooling, heating, and hydration product available on the market.

IcePlate Sleeve uses the same proprietary laminate technology as their IcePlate EXO ultralight ventilated plate carrier. The laminate material does not stretch, is completely hydrophobic, and delivers significantly greater abrasion resistance than 500D Cordura Nylon. IcePlate Sleeve is 33% lighter than the outgoing IMS Flex.

IcePlate Sleeve facilitates native integration with the IcePlate EXO, but is also universally compatible with all plate carriers on the market. IcePlate Sleeve has a six column by seven row laser-cut MOLLE field on both faces, allowing the user to reclaim all MOLLE attachment points that the IcePlate Sleeve takes up on the plate carrier. The product also has the entire MOLLE field covered with hook tape on one side and pile on the other, allowing direct Velcro connection with loop fields on the inside or outside face of a plate carrier.

The design of IcePlate Sleeve allows it to be mounted inside a plate carrier to maximize the multiple benefits of IcePlate Curve’s thermoregulation properties. While it is possible to mount IcePlate Sleeve to nearly any carrier on the market, it optimally mounts to future-proof designs that include pile tape on the inside, which minimizes the movement of the IcePlate Curve.

As with IcePlate Exo, IcePlate Sleeve is compatible with the new right and left exit port versions of the IcePlate Curve, allowing for user-specific routing of the Source 90 Drink Tube over the left shoulder for right-handed shooters and over the right shoulder for left-handed shooters.

Registration Underway for Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Leadership for Veterans

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Registration is underway through Sept. 2 for the Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Leadership for Veterans, a new, online leadership development opportunity for Veterans; those about to leave military service; and individuals who work with Veterans.

The program runs from October 16 to March 26 through The Ohio State University’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs and is a partnership with the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. The program aims to help Veterans transition from the clear organizational structure and culture of military life to the more ambiguous organizational structure and culture of civilian organizations.

“Military service is the best on-the-job leadership training in the world,” said Lt. General Michael Ferriter, U.S. Army (Retired), President and CEO of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. “Veterans bring so much to the workplace, but it is important to help them invest in professional development to continue to grow and thrive in their civilian careers. That is what this program is all about.”

The program is designed for individuals who already work or plan to work in a civilian job and hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or a high school diploma with significant leadership experience. It is a graduate-level program where participants acquire six credit hours that may be applied to a degree program at Ohio State or another university.

The certificate consists of two courses, each worth three credit hours. The first addresses leadership in public and nonprofit organizations; the second in leadership development application. The emphasis is on experiential knowledge and the experience of Veterans in leadership positions is actively used to help illustrate the general principles of organization and management.

“Veterans who are transitioning to civilian life can feel like they are speaking a different language than the business leaders who might hire them,” explained Glenn College Professor Jos. C.N. Raadschelders, Faculty Director of Professional Development and Training Programs. “The Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Leadership for Veterans smooths that transition, bringing together Veterans who are called to serve in civilian life to learn from each other and civilian colleagues, build lasting relationships, and demonstrate the value of military experience and leadership to civilian employers.”

Federal Launches Virtual Shows for Its Buy Group Partners and Distributors

ANOKA, Minnesota – August 7, 2020 – Federal developed a series of virtual sales shows to support its Buy Group customers. This effort is due to many of the industry’s sales shows being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting on August 10, and running throughout the month, Federal will launch four virtual Buy Group shows for its business partners. Each Buy Group will receive its own dedicated week to review the digital content through an online portal. At the end of the week, attendees will get their questions answered by Federal’s sales staff and product teams through live chats.

“Our distributors and retailers are hungry for information and product news. They need to hear from us and since we cannot be there in person we created our own virtual experience,” said Federal SVP Hunting & Shooting Sales Jim Bruno. “As a result, our efforts will benefit the end consumer because we will provide the latest and greatest products and information to be made available from our distribution customers who attend these virtual shows.”

New product videos with detailed information on features and benefits will be the focus of the shows. Other digital content that will be provided include: messages from Federal Ammunition President Jason Vanderbrink and Senior Vice President of Sales Jim Bruno; examples of upcoming product advertising; trade marketing tools and displays; plus, pricing, terms and hot show specials for Buy Group members.
