The Remington Model Seven Threaded Kuiu – Built for Speed, Made for Tight Spaces

Wednesday, November 7th, 2018

Ilion, NY –  Carry a Model Seven in the field and you’ll understand why it’s considered one of the finest dense-cover rifles in America:  lightning-fast in close quarters and superbly accurate for the long shot.

The Model Seven features the same legendary strength as the Model 700’s“three-rings-of-steel,” referring to the steel bolt face, barrel and receiver encasing the cartridge head.  The cylindrical receiver design provides a consistent bedding area in the stock.  The Model Seven has a 2 3/8” shorter overall length than the Model 700, the Model Seven is perfectly sized for small-statured shooters and dense cover hunting situations.  Picatinny scope base included.

Rheinmetall Transfers state-of-the-art trucks to the Bundeswehr – first vehicles formally handed over at ceremony in Munich

Wednesday, November 7th, 2018

The transfer to the Bundeswehr of twenty factory-fresh military trucks in Munich marks the start of a new chapter in the history of German Army logistics. The Bundeswehr’s fleet will be steadily augmented by a total of up to 2,271 new trucks, which will gradually replace Germany’s trusty but aging Kat I mil gl vehicles.

Attending the symbolic handover of the keys at the MAN Forum in Munich were representatives of the Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-service Support (BAAINBw, i.e. the German procurement authority) and the future user, the German Bundeswehr. Headquartered in Munich, the joint venture company Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) is one of the world’s foremost makers of military wheeled vehicles.

On behalf of the customer, Rainer Krug, head of BAAINBw’s ground support department, took possession of the symbolic key, which he then immediately handed over to the Bundeswehr, represented by Major General Stefan Linus Fix of the Joint Support Services Command, and Colonel Ralf Albert Nau of the German Army Command.

In summer 2017, BAAINBw awarded Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles a framework contract to supply the Bundeswehr with trucks from the HX2 family worth a total of €900 million. As a first step, an order was issued for 558 trucks, including special tools and training support.

In Bundeswehr and BAAINBw parlance, the project is known as the “UTF (Ungeschützte Transportfahrzeuge) mil gl in den Zuladungsklassen 5t und 15t”, which means “unprotected transport vehicle, military/all-terrain load classes 5t and 15t”. It is true that these versatile, high-performance 6×6 and 8×8 trucks currently feature an unprotected driver’s cab. However, the powerful chassis is designed to enable subsequent replacement with a highly protected armoured cab, likewise made by Rheinmetall. As a result, these “Unprotected Vehicles” can be transformed into superbly protected vehicles at any time, which, despite the additional weight, remain as manoeuvrable and flexibly deployable as ever, while providing their crews with excellent protection when deployed in harm’s way.

At the handover ceremony, Rheinmetall chief executive Armin Papperger stated how pleased he was to see the Bundeswehr joining the circle of HX2 users. In recent years, among other nations, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand have all procured comparable RMMV vehicles, as have Norway and Sweden.

As Mr Papperger put it, “We are very happy that the Bundeswehr is now part of this growing family. In a joint User Nations Group, we work closely with the armed forces of these nations to continuously improve the vehicles, to gain from each other’s experience and to create a new common logistics capability – one that will benefit everybody.”

He went on to say that, “We at Rheinmetall see it as our duty to supply our men and women in uniform with the best-possible equipment to help them perform their missions. The ‘Unprotected Transport Vehicle’ project is one which all of us at Rheinmetall can be particularly proud of.”

For his part, Michael Wittlinger, managing director of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles, expressed his pride in the achievement, too, directing his thanks to everyone involved in the project, on the customer and contractor sides alike. “In a very short timeframe”, declared Mr Wittlinger, “outstanding partnership achieved great things here – the results speak for themselves.”

A vehicle specially developed for military users, the HX2 has been systematically perfected from the very outset. RMMV development engineers consistently adhered to a family concept, resulting in major advantages with respect to the supply of spare parts, training and interoperability. Assuring maximum mobility and robust performance under rugged conditions were also key design goals.

Production is already in full swing. In 2018, the first delivery year, Rheinmetall is already well ahead of its target output figure of ninety vehicles. As things stand, 110 UTF trucks will thus be ready for delivery this year.

FN Announces Release of FN SCAR 20S Precision Rifle

Tuesday, November 6th, 2018

(McLean, VA – November 6, 2018) FN America, LLC is pleased to announce the release of the highly-anticipated FN SCAR® 20S precision rifle, based on the FN MK20 SSR or Sniper Support Rifle currently fielded within USSOCOM. The 7.62x51mm-chambered rifle has been purpose-built to achieve superior long-range accuracy.

“The FN SCAR 20S is the latest addition to our battle-proven line-up of FN SCAR products and the first commercial SCAR release since we launched the 17S in 2010,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC. “Customers will notice that the FN SCAR 20S shares more commonalities than differences with the MK20 SSR and reaffirms our commitment to producing commercial versions of our iconic military firearms.”

The rifle achieves 1-MOA (minute of angle) accuracy to 100 yards with match-grade ammunition out of the box. New Panteao Instructional Videos from Mike Boyle

Tuesday, November 6th, 2018

Columbia, SC, November 2, 2018 – Panteao is happy to announce the release of two new video titles from instructor Mike Boyle. Mike Boyle has been a firearms and use of force instructor for 37 years. He served with New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife, Bureau of Law Enforcement where he held the rank of Captain. He was the primary trainer of his agency for 22 years and is certified instructor in multiple firearms, chemical agent, impact weapon and empty hand disciplines. Mike has been an assistant police academy director and an adviser to the Police Training Commission on firearms training issues. He continues to maintain his certification as a police academy rangemaster and firearms instructor and his responsibilities include providing basic training as well as instructor level courses.

Make Ready with Mike Boyle: Combative Shotgun

The first video released is Combative Shotgun. When it comes to self-defense with a firearm, the most overlooked weapon is the shotgun. The reality is few weapons can match the lethality of it. As far back as World War I, the shotgun was feared in battle by the enemy and today it continues that reputation of being a fight stopper. In this video Mike Boyle reviews the history of the use of the shotgun in battle, types of shotguns, modifications, ammunition capabilities, patterning with buckshot, priorities, conditions of readiness, shooting positions, injured operator, low light shooting, stoppage reduction and transitions, home issues, multiple targets, and more.

Make Ready with Mike Boyle: Low Light Threat Management

The second video released is Low Light Threat Management. Concealed carry and self-defense doesn’t happen just during the day. Being able to defend yourself in low light scenarios is a critical skillset. In Low Light Threat Management, Mike Boyle reviews the importance of training in low light, human performance in low light, gear, hand-held and weapon mounted lights, lasers, night sights, conditions of readiness with a flashlight, shooting drills, and more.

The videos can be watched online via a PC or Mac, on a smartphone or tablet using the Panteao Make Ready Android and iTunes apps, or on television with the Panteao Make Ready channel on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. For more information on how to stream the Panteao videos, visit: panteao.com/streaming-video-ways-to-watch

The SD and HD Digital Downloads and DVD versions of the videos will be available shortly. For more information on these titles, visit Panteao at:
