Warrior West 21 – Hendricks Motorsports Advanced Seat Liner

June 30th, 2021

What you see here are seat cushion sections developed by Hendrick Motorsports for NASCAR to increase survivability during crashes. This configuration called the Hendrick Advanced Seat Liner was developed for PM-Apache and is currently under evaluation for use by Apache helicopter crews.

The Apache was initially designed during the Cold War for two hour missions but today the missions are eight hours long. The seat is more comfortable with the padding contoured to support the body. It also protects the spine and pelvis from injury.

Testers at Apache manufacturer Boeing have referred to the seat as the “Cadillac of Seats” and one Apache test pilot with over 30 years experience called it the “Mack Daddy.” Although you won’t find it on the Apache version, the seat can also be air conditioned. The seat also features a self-extinguishing foam with leatherette covers. This is the same material used in seats on Air Force One.

Warrior West 2021

June 30th, 2021

Warrior West just kicked off at San Diego’s PetCo Park and this is what I’m seeing. How is that for signage?

I’ve been to a lot of tradeshows and I can say this is truly a unique experience. I’ve never attended a tradeshow at a ball park. Turns out, PetCo Park has never hosted a tradeshow either.

It’s great to be back out here attending shows and seeing both vendors and customers. If you’re in the area, you should be here. There are way more vendors at this show than I can cover and some offer products outside the purview of this site.

One of the Warrior Expo’s premier sponsors is Atlantic Diving Supply. In case you miss this one, there will be an even bigger version in their hometown of Virginia Beach at the end of July. But even if you’re not here, be sure to keep up with our coverage over the next few days.

F.A.B. Defense Adds the FRBS Offset Kit to Its Line of Accessories

June 30th, 2021

For Immediate Release – Modi’in, Israel. – F.A.B. Defense® is pleased to announce the addition of Front / Rear Backup Sight Offset Kit to their line of accessories. The FRBS Offset Kit is in full production and is distributed exclusively in the USA by The Third Bull & Co.

The FRBS Offset Kit is a must have addition to any platform that is running an optic as a primary sighting system. Long range scopes can struggle to perform in high speed close quarter scenarios, reflex sights that rely on batteries can die, and bad weather will adversely affect both. Operators that opt for the basic sight redundancy of the FRBS Offset Kit, will enjoy a backup sight on the 45 degree offset that is snag free with a low profile while not in use and speedy deployment when seconds count.

The F.A.B. Defense® FRBS Offset Kit is a hard polymer construction, making it a cost effective, light weight, and durable weapon sighting solution. The FRBS Offset Kit takes up a single slot on a 1913 Picatinny rail and clamps securely into place with an Allen head screw. Customers have the options for either right or left eye dominance and can select between in Black, OD Green, and FDE colors.

Suunto CORE Alpha Stealth Watch

June 30th, 2021

Sometimes, all you need is just a watch. As we move into the great power competition, troops are concerned about their electronic signature and the CORE Alpha Stealth was built with this in mind. It doesn’t transmit any signals and it doesn’t collect information about where you’ve been. It’s just an ABC watch with core Altitude, Barometric pressure and Compass features.

In fact, the CORE Alpha Stealth was designed based on this request from an end user:

“I need a rugged ABC watch that is mission ready and ready for navigation at night. The watch should be robust, Night Vision Goggle compatible, and powered by a replaceable battery. It must be able to operate with no internet, BT, or geo- positioning support”

It retains all of the features of the popular CORE:
• Altimeter, Barometer, Compass
• Storm alarm
• Depth meter
• Sunrise/sunset times
• Dual time
• User replaceable battery – 1 year battery life, no charging

The CORE Alpha Stealth model adds these features:
• Red backlight / Night Vision goggle friendly
• Florescent Indicators on the bezel for nighttime navigation

It is made in Finland and tested to military standards (MIL-STD-810). Although, the CORE Alpha Stealth’s nylon NATO-Style strap is Berry compliant.

I have been wearing one for a couple of weeks now and I really like the watch’s functionality. However, a bit of a warning; when you first take it out of the box, the buttons beep when depressed. Be sure to switch this option off. Instructions are in the manual and it’s the second step during initial set up so you shouldn’t miss it.

There’s a also button lock feature which can come in really handy in preventing unwanted changes to functions when you’re doing a lot with your hands.

See the new CORE Alpha Stealth today at the Warrior West Expo in San Diego, California.

Suunto products are available for unit and agency sales through ADS.

The new Suunto CORE Alpha Stealth is also available from Tactical Distributors and US Elite.

The Suunto CORE Alpha Stealth is subjected to this MIL-STD-810 Testing:
