Mission Spec Releases XL Version of the EC2 Plate Carrier

January 29th, 2019

Mission Spec has released the EC2-XL™, the larger version of the standard Essentials Carrier 2.  As the name implies this carrier is designed specifically for XL sized (e,x)SAPI (or like) armor plates (not included).

Just like the standard sized version, the EC2-XL includes native support for industry standard chest rigs (with the addition of 2 QASM buckles), dual tourniquet holders, dual pen/chem-light/medical gloves storage, cable and hydration routing options, rear pack hangers, and simulated PALS sewn into the semi-elastic side straps for extra MOLLE pouch support. Excluding armor, the EC2-XL weighs 29 ounces and is constructed from 1000D CORDURA (500D for MultiCam; Black, Arid, Tropic).

The video was produced for the standard sized EC2.

The EC2-XL is fully compatible with other Mission Spec products such as ShoulderSavers™ (all versions), FlankSavers™, and MagRack5™. Inserted armor is always kept at the highest possible position inside of the plate bags due to the EC2-XL’s armor suspension system.  All armor weight bypasses the CORDURA® layer and is loaded directly onto the internal webbing structure.

Available now in the entire line of standard colors and patterns offered by Mission Spec.  Custom colors and patterns along with other customizations are possible on a case by case basis. Contact Mission Spec if needed. 100% designed, tested, and manufactured in the United States with US sourced components and Berry Compliant.

True Velocity Teams With General Dynamics On Next Generation Squad Weapons

January 29th, 2019

LAS VEGAS, NV – Texas-based True Velocity announced today a partnership with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) to develop the Next Generation Squad Weapon systems to replace the M4 and M249 platforms.

GD-OTS was one of five companies awarded contracts by the U.S. Army in July 2018 to develop prototypes of the Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle.

True Velocity has partnered with GD-OTS to support its new weapon system with a revolutionary composite case design that will yield significant ballistic improvements over traditional brass-cased ammunition, while also reducing the weight of a loaded cartridge, improving accuracy, decreasing thermal heat signature and diminishing wear and tear on the weapon system.

“True Velocity is committed to producing composite-cased ammunition that is superior to standard brass-cased ammunition in every way,” said True Velocity President Chris Tedford. “We feel strongly that our partnership with General Dynamics will result in a disruptive, technologically advanced weapon system that will afford our military a distinct advantage on the battlefield.”

The NGSAR is expected to improve upon the firepower and effective range of the M16 and M4 platforms, while simultaneously yielding capability improvements in accuracy and lethality, according to the Army. The weapon will weigh less than its predecessor, fire lightweight ammunition and have reduced acoustic and flash signature.

“By integrating the General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Next Generation Squad Weapon with True Velocity’s superior composite-cased ammunition, we can provide the U.S. Army with the right balance of lethality, weight reduction, and overmatch capability. We are excited for this partnership as we build on our capabilities as a system integrator” said Steve Elgin, vice president and general manager of armament and platform systems for GD-OTS.

The deadline for the submission of prototypes is anticipated prior to the end of 2019.

National Rifle Association Announces Daniel Defense as Friends of NRA 2019 Exclusive Guardian Sponsor

January 29th, 2019

FAIRFAX, Va. – The National Rifle Association is proud to announce Daniel Defense as the exclusive 2019 Guardian Level Corporate Sponsor of the Friends of NRA program. The National Corporate Sponsor program takes Friends of NRA’s support of the shooting sports to a national scale.

Friends of NRA is the blockbuster fundraising program supporting The NRA Foundation. Since day one, it has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a shared passion for securing the Second Amendment and raising money for the shooting sports. Since its inception in 1992, Friends of NRA has held close to 22,000 events, reached over 4.1 million attendees and raised more than $880 million for The NRA Foundation.

For the sixth year in a row, Daniel Defense’s sponsorship helps The NRA Foundation provide critical support for firearm training and educational programs that ensure the continuation of America’s proud shooting and hunting heritage for generations to come.

Cindy and Marty Daniel are passionate about supporting shooting programs focused on education and training for youth and women in particular, an interest that perfectly connects with The NRA Foundation’s goals to support educational programs such as: the NRA Online Hunter Education course, designed to help new hunters of all ages learn how to be safe and responsible members of the hunting community; and Women On Target®, a firearm handling clinic by women and for women.

“Our commitment to Friends of NRA is the right thing to do,” said Cindy Daniel, Executive Vice President of Daniel Defense. “In addition to renewing Daniel Defense as the National Corporate Sponsor for ‘19, I also started my own chapter locally called Coastal Georgia Friends of NRA. We’re surrounded by like-minded people, who genuinely share the same passion for the shooting sports, for our country, and the Second Amendment. Its way more than just a financial investment; we invest time with our children, enjoying all that the shooting sports has to offer, and most importantly, preparing the next generation of responsible gun owners. I encourage everyone to find ways to get involved on some level to ensure our children and grandchildren have the same access to shooting sports and the great outdoors.”

Unity Tactical Cold Weather Liner Is In Stock and Shipping Now!

January 29th, 2019

The Cold Weather Liner (CWL) is designed to install in any helmet with Velcro pads.  By integrating directly into the helmet, the CWL creates a barrier against the elements with micro fiber fleece that keeps the wearer’s head warm. The material thickness creates minimal or no displacement of pads that can cause the helmet to not ride properly, as is the case while wearing a standard beanie under the shell.  This ensures correct shell coverage of the head, alignment of night vision goggles, and fitting of communications gear.

Operator comfort is increased exponentially by providing more coverage to exposed areas under the helmet shell with dual layer fleece while the same pads that normally contact the head will continue to do so with the CWL installed.
