Dynamis Alliance – ADAPTIV Denim Line Details

January 12th, 2018

DYNAMIS ALLIANCE confirms the ADAPTIV denim line is in production. This update comes a week after DYNAMIS announced their acquisition of OXCART APPAREL. Leading up to the OXCART acquisition DYNAMIS had been working with S&S PRECISION on collective intellectual property to develop the ‘ADAPTIV Integrated Waistband System’ or I.W.S. DYNAMIS has been planning on integrating this low-vis technology into their ADAPTIV denim and technical line to redefine and set a new standard with concealed carry.

“We’re innovators and mission focused on creating the best low-vis equipment in the world” said Dom Raso, Founder/ CEO DYNAMIS ALLIANCE. These strategic moves and design efforts are focused on dominating the low-vis apparel market.

The ADAPTIV I.W.S. is the first of its kind and features a precision design with the ability to integrate no-vis pouches that Raso and the Dynamis team are continually developing. The ADAPTIV line will feature a performance stretch, full motion denim that has been designed, developed, and manufactured in the USA. The jeans are integrated with sleek operator designed hidden pockets to spread the EDC load throughout the pant. Exclusive patented ADAPTIV I.W.S. technology gives the end user a comfortable, fully customizable load carry system meant to keep everything you need concealed and accessible on your 1st line. The ADAPTIV Jeans will give operators a great low-vis choice when working in austere environments, while also giving responsibly armed citizens a stylish no-vis option. The ADAPTIV I.W.S. is the new standard and the customizable possibilities are endless. Keep and eye out for upcoming holsters and various technical I.W.S. Pouches.

Blue Force Gear Offers E-Tool Carrier For Unit Sales

January 12th, 2018

Due to an uptick in demand, Blue Force Gear has decided to release its much anticipated E-Tool Carrier early for military unit sales. The demand stems from a shift in TTPs at the highest levels. Expected to start shipping 1st quarter of 2018, the pouch is 30% lighter than the issued carrier and adds reinforcement areas for those who like to put a razor edge on the blade for use as a CQB weapon.

Mustang Survival Launches Next Generation SOF Life Preserver Unit

January 12th, 2018

For the past several years, Mustang Survival has been working to introduce a new inflatable life preserver. What they’ve come up with is so low profile and lightweight, it changes the way we will look at them. While the SOF LPU only weights 1 lbs, it provides 40 lbs of bouyancy. The biggest contributor to this weight savings is a new ultralightweight membrane film, used for the inflation chamber.

IMG_5636

But Mustang Survival didn’t build this new system in a vacuum. I first saw a prototype at last summer’s Warrior East. At that point, they’d already been working for five years with ADS to refine the form, fit, and function of what would eventually become the Mustang SOF LPU. But over the last six months that collaboration, conducting some pretty significant customer engagement and feedback, as well as market analysis, looks to have really paid off. In fact, the two companies have been working together for 20 years, since the whole Diving Equipment Prime Vendor program started.

IMG_5630

Since my first look, they’ve brought in long-time partner CM Hammar to develop a new programmable inflator which allows the user to configure it to trigger inflation by depth, time submerged in water, or a combination of both. They are also working together to identify and validate a next generation electronic inflator technology for the SOF LPU.

IMG_5629

However, the SOF LPU will be offered in three configurations which fit the operational profiles of most LPU users. The MD1500 utilizes a Programmable automatic inflator, MD1501 utilizes HIT Hydrostatic inflator, and MD1502 utilizes Hammar’s new manual inflator.

That video was shot during a demonstration in a Norfolk pool in November. When we discussed the history of the project, Mustang Survival reps told me that a SOF customer had initially approached them, asking if they could integrate a new life preserver into their armor vest. Mustang Survival took a look at how many different vests had been in use at that organization and suggested that they instead create an appliqué which could be attached to any vest. PALS compatibility seemed like the best answer.

IMG_6079

It’s being referred to as a SOF LPU, but everyone who currently uses some form of inflatable LPU is going to want this. Not only can it be attached to equipment via PALS webbing, but they’ve also created a stand alone harness so the LPU can be worn alone. That’s great for over the water Helo passengers, parachutists during admin jumps and small boat passengers. Additionally, SOLAS retro-reflective tape or GLINT can be attached to the inflation chamber via hook and loop to support those TTPs which use those markings.

IMG_5642

Because of the SOF LPU’s low profile, the wearer will barely know it’s there. It’s not going to impede movement or situational awarenes. In the event of inflation, the chamber is out front, above any equipment such as ammunition, first aid kit, or radios. That way, the wearer can still access that gear.

The SOF LPU will be offered in Sepia, MultiCam, Coyote Tan and Black.

ADS and Mustang Survival will be jointly launching the SOF LPU at SHOT Show 2018 (January 23-26 in Las Vegas).

FirstSpear Friday Focus – OEM Partner Series – Ryker Nylon Gear

January 12th, 2018

This week, we focus on one of FirstSpear’s OEM Partners, Ryker Nylon Gear and their AFAK (Ankle First Aid Kit).

IMG_6073

Made in the USA by FirstSpear the AFAK (Ankle First Aid Kit) was designed by Ryker Nylon Gear for carrying medical items concealed on your ankle. Weighing in at only 2.3 ounces the AFAK is lightweight and comfortable making it very easy to conceal not just medical items.

– Features 3 Vertical pockets for items like combat gauze, mini compression bandage, tourniquet, trauma sheers, etc
– 1 Horizontal pocket that will fit a chest seal
– Includes new elastic extension piece for full size boots

OEM Partner Interview

1. Why was the AFAK originally developed?

The AFAK (Ankle First Aid Kit) was originally designed to provide a way for my friend Chris Lapre, a Arizona law enforcement officer, to carry medical gear in a low profile manner. At the time he worked plain clothes and conducted undercover operations while assigned to a federal task force. He wanted a way to have medical gear available immediately, but still be concealed. I went home that night with a list of items (chest seal, TQ, sheers, quickclot, gloves) we potentially wanted it to hold. This produced the first two prototype AFAKs. Once we started wearing the AFAK, the design changed slightly with Chris’s feedback. We had one additional AFAK in Afghanistan within two weeks of the prototypes being made.
My family and I started making them for free to send overseas to friends and acquaintances that needed a concealed medical kit option. I never intended to start a business and sell the AFAK. It was more of a way to help out people I know in high-risk professions.

Once the demand was beyond our capabilities I decided to start a business selling the AFAK.

2. Why did Ryker choose American Made?

While we’re a small business, I hope every time we order more product from First Spear it creates a tiny economic ripple that helps support American businesses. From fabric suppliers, sewers, fabric cutters, to office staff, etc and the American economy in general.

I’ve worked in manufacturing for 17 years and have personally seen the effects of what’s happened to people and communities due to outsourcing over seas.

American Made was the only way we were going to produce the product. Going overseas wasn’t an option.

3. How did the relationship between FS and Ryker begin (or how did you hear about us) and Why did Ryker ultimately choose FirstSpear manufacturing?

Our original local manufacturer went out of business right after our first year of business. We decided we had enough business to support First Spear manufacturing the AFAK. Chris Lapre who the AFAK was originally designed for, put me in touch with friend Ronnie Fowlkes.

We were only interested in American manufacturing that we knew could produce the best product for our customers. A good percentage of our customers work in high risk professions and depend on our product to carry critical medical gear. We needed a manufacturer that could produce a product that would last in austere conditions.

With a strong manufacturing background I was specifically interested in the quality of manufacturing that First Spear offers. These include Non Destructive Marking, laser cut fabric, etc. These practices make for a much higher quality, durable product in the end for my customers.

4. Any new product developments between Ryker and FS in the future?

Yes we are working on our next product. It will create a solution to fill a void in the vehicle medical kit arena similarly to the AFAK filling a void in the ankle medical kit market. We’re still testing it and it’ll be ready for First Spear later this year.
