Newington, N.H. (June 11, 2018) – SIG SAUER, Inc., is pleased to announce the Tampa Police Department will replace their official duty pistol from the Smith & Wesson M&P, to the SIG SAUER P320. The Tampa Police Department has over 1,000 sworn officers, covering three districts that encompass the entire municipality of Tampa, Florida.

“SIG SAUER is honored to earn the trust of the men and women of the Tampa Police Department through their selection of the P320 pistol as their official duty pistol,” began Tom Jankiewicz, Executive Vice president, Law Enforcement Sales, SIG SAUER, Inc. “The modularity of the P320, with its ability to select grip size, combined with the proven reliability, accuracy, and safety of the firearm made it the right choice for this diverse group of officers.”

The intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.

The Tampa Police Department will acquire 1,375, P320 pistols to replace their current Smith & Wesson M&P’s as the approved official duty pistol.

“We here at SIG SAUER are very proud to gain the confidence of the Tampa PD and assist them in safely carrying out their department’s mission – to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life through a cooperative partnership with all citizens,” concluded Jankiewicz.

Grey Ghost Precision Team Shooter JP Sullivan, Secures Top Placement at 3rd Annual, Task Force Dagger 3Gun Championship

June 12th, 2018

June 12, 2018 – Grey Ghost Precision is proud to announce team shooter, JP Sullivan’s fourth place finish, out of 154 competitors, at the 3rd Annual Task Force Dagger 3Gun Championship, held June 8-10, in Clinton, SC.

Sullivan, who competes in 3 Gun, USPSA, and Precision Rifle matches, has won numerous local matches and placed in the Top 10 at multiple major matches across the country using modified GGP Light 5.56 rifles.

Currently serving as an Army Captain on Active Duty with 3 deployments to Afghanistan and other overseas Assignments, Sullivan chooses to run the Grey Ghost Precision Light (5.56), with an 18″ barrel for his rifle during the competitions.

The 2018 Task Force Dagger Foundation 3Gun Championship is an entertaining three-day military-style, physically and mentally challenging event. The match features 8 stages, and 18 Squads with 15 competitors per squad. The stages are designed to present dynamic shooting challenges, as well each stage designed to individually memorialize a USSOCOM service member or a significant combat operation.

“The skill level of the competitors was no doubt the deepest talent pool I have seen at the match,” stated Sullivan. “The first and second place finishers are both multi-time national champions and damn near unstoppable so it was a battle for third, and I’m honored to have been among that group of finishers.”

Sullivan is one of several active duty, Special Operations Military members the team at Grey Ghost entrusts their firearms with, to provide honest and real feedback.

“My rifle is by far my best of the 3 guns I have. I also compete with the GGP Grim (6.5 Creedmoor), which doesn’t require any modifications due to it being so awesome out of the gate and ready for competition,” stated Sullivan. “Needless to say, the team at GGP is one that I trust completely.”

With a number of prototypes in the hands of trusted industry partners and professionals, from Special Forces teams and instructors, Law Enforcement, competition shooters and hardcore hunters, Grey Ghost isn’t one of those companies who asks for help and then decide they’re going to do it their way anyway. The team takes every ounce of feedback, in conjunction with design and engineering, and the product you see come out of the box will be the result of legitimate evaluations and honest opinion.

“We make it a point to remain relevant to our customers by being in constant contact with them,” stated Jason Curns, Vice President of GGP. “Feedback is the most important aspect in design and manufacturing – and we realize how imperative it is to humble ourselves to know that. We are incredibly end-user focused; and with several of our products currently being deployed with teams in combat, our focus on the feedback from those who put themselves into harms way is the most imperative.”

“Having JP as part of the Grey Ghost team is not only an honor, but is a truly imperative ingredient to how we as a company operate,” stated Casey Ingles, CEO of GGP. “Without professionals such as JP, we wouldn’t be able to produce the products we do, and be able to provide those who use them, the confidence to know they will operate when needed.”

Propper Donates Portion of Memorial Day Week Proceeds to USO of Missouri

June 12th, 2018

St. Charles, MO — For the second year in a row, Missouri-based Propper International teamed up with the USO of Missouri to donate a portion of online sales in honor of Memorial Day and to further the USO’s mission to “strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.”

This year’s total of $5,181 included proceeds from sales during the week leading up to Memorial Day and the holiday weekend.

“As a Missouri-based company, donating to the USO of Missouri was an easy decision,” said John Negrau, VP, Marketing & eCommerce for Propper. “For over half a century, Propper has proudly supported our fighting men and women. It made sense to support current active duty personnel by donating in honor of the fallen.”

Each state’s USO branches operate independently and rely solely upon local support.

“Propper’s support and generosity is very much appreciated. Without support such as theirs, we wouldn’t be able to continue to serve the over 270,000 military and their families that we do,” said Christine Trotter, Development Director for USO of Missouri.

Salewa Mountain Trooper

June 12th, 2018

Based on the Mountain Trainer Mid Leather, Salewa’s Mountain Trooper is the same booth expect that it is all black, eyelets have replaced the lace hooks and there is no metal or wires.

I saw it during a recent trip to Canada for Rampart Range Day, where apparently there’s been some serious interest.

Proof Mark – Muzzle Stand-off Device for the Glock 19 & 23

June 12th, 2018

Proof Mark LLC is a veteran owned firearm accessories design and manufacturing company located in the Pacific Northwest. They recently released their Muzzle Stand-off Device (MSD) for the G19/23. Project development began in October of 2015 and concluded in Spring of 2018.

img_1286.jpg

The design intent originates in part with the Battle of Qala-i-Jangi where an SFOD-A, after expending their ammunition, had to defend their position using their empty weapons in hand-to-hand combat.  Another source of inspiration was a special mission group in Slovakia, where there were several reports of Glock slides coming out of battery due to muzzle contact.  The MSD has utility in kinetic operations and as well as CCW. FBI statistics show more than half of law enforcement firefights take place at distances of 0 to 5 feet.  When in close contact with an assailant the MSD prevents the slide from being pushing out of battery.

The MSD body is machined from billet 7075 aluminum and the glass break is 17-4 stainless.

The locking mechanism consists of a Patent Pending 303 stainless locking block which fits within the profile of the STANAG 4694 rail and allows for tool-less removal.

The MSD went through extensive testing which revealed two primary design obstacles; gas management at the muzzle and frame fitment.  First, capturing excess gas behind the stand-off device generates a tremendous amount of force on the pistol dust cover and this can lead to material fatigue.  This challenge was overcome with the use of proper venting.  Second, inconsistencies of Glock dust covers between generations and even within a single generation made universal fitment difficult.  To overcome this obstacle, balance was struck between critical dimensions to achieve a good fit on Gen3/4/5.

With solutions engineered and production eminent, Glock released their new Gen5.  This extended the development cycle as the slides of the Gen5/19X are longer than prior generations which caused interference with the back of the MSD.  This was overcome by recontouring the back of the MSD.

Prior to public release, the MSD went through a year of testing within one of the military’s special mission groups with positive feedback.

The MSD G19/23 fits the Safariland 7TS G17/22 XC1 holster.  Look for the following first eight digits: 7378-8322-XXX.  The last three digits indicate right/left hand configuration.
