BE Meyers & Co, Inc Issues Statement In Support Of Chuck Pressburg

February 16th, 2017

Recently, a news release came to light identifying one of our contracted employees and brand ambassador, Mr. Charles “Chuck” Pressburg of Presscheck Consulting, in an unfortunate firearms incident. The media coverage of this incident is vague and allows for misperception. In addition to this limited reporting by the press, malicious speculation online is fueling and in some way exacerbating many inaccuracies in the story.

This incident is by no means indicative of the performance or standards that we know Chuck to uphold, and in no way impacts his credentials as a Subject Matter Expert on the topic of low-light operations as well as night vision and laser combat employment. He represents our brand, and we support him as strongly today as we ever have.

While this was an obviously unfortunate incident involving our brand ambassador, the details of the situation will come out at a time and in a method that are legally appropriate. While it would not be appropriate for our brand ambassador to make a statement himself at this time, B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. and industry entities cited in this message stand in his support to speak for him.

I encourage the community to take a pause, know that all the details cannot be currently released, and to question the narrative provided to them by the Oregon media that has spread to the national press level. Stop breaking out the Jump-to-Conclusions Mat, stop trying to fill in the blanks erroneously, and start letting the facts develop. Let the legal system work, and come to your own conclusions in due time.

I personally stand with Chuck.
B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. stands with Chuck.
Those of character in this industry stand with Chuck.

We are ALL, all in for Chuck.

Matthew Meyers

PM Soldier Weapons Developing Integrated Fire Control for Small Arms Weapons

February 16th, 2017

The Army’s headline reads, “PM Soldier Weapons developing first integrated fire control for small arms weapons” but anyone in the firearms industry knows that isn’t true. That’s why our headline differs slightly from the Army.mil article we are sharing.

In fact, the Army has looked at commercial products that already do what they seeking to create.

Consider TrackingPoint which has been available for years. There are other systems as well.

However, it’s good to see the Army developing Programs of Record to field such caoabilities to our Soldiers. What’s more, I’m encouraged to see the Size Weight And Power work that has gone into BOSS.

PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. — What does it take for an Army sniper to accurately hit a person-size target at extreme ranges?

The BOSS is a fully integrated, rifle-mounted (using the Picatinny Rail) automated, full-solution fire-control system for sniper weapons. It has a variable power (6-22x magnification) direct view optic coupled with a precision, eye-safe laser range finder. The system also contains an internal environmental sensor suite, platform orientation inclinometers, and sophisticated ballistic calculator. (Photo Credit: U.S. Army)

The Army thinks it may have the answer to this challenge in a new integrated fire control sighting system for military sniper weapons called the Ballistically Optimized Sniper Scope or BOSS.

“To improve sniper effectiveness, especially at extended distances, we need to find a way to increase accuracy by reducing aiming errors, and minimize the time for the shooter to figure out where to correctly aim his weapon,” said Regina Stonitsch, Assistant Product Manager for BOSS at Project Manager Soldier Weapons. “We believe the answer could be the BOSS Project.”
“Since sniper rifle and ammunition technologies are unlikely to change considerably in the foreseeable future, we’re concentrating our efforts on developing a revolutionary fire control system that will provide a leap in shooter performance and likewise a big return on investment,” she said.

The ballistic calculator uses range, environmental and weapon orientation data to compute a ballistic solution based on weapon and ammunition. It provides an adjusted aim point in the scope, which the shooter then places on target and fires.

The entire time, the shooter never removes his eye from the scope nor loses his sight picture of the target. This allows the shooter to maintain better situational awareness and avoids extra time and effort in reacquiring the target.

BOSS also provides fail-safe sniper operations in case its power source or electronics fail.

The Army acquired a number of advanced technology demonstrator BOSS prototypes and evaluated them over the past year at numerous military bases and Army test centers.

According to Stonitsch, the BOSS prototypes were sniper-vetted against personnel-size targets out to the maximum effective range limits of our current sniper systems.

However, the system is capable of accurately ranging and calculating the required ballistic reticle for those type targets at a comfortable distance, well beyond effective weapon system (rifle/ammo) engagement constraints.

Collected data shows the BOSS will progressively increase the probability of hit, as a function of range, by nearly an order of magnitude at the most extreme range and can reduce engagement times by 50 percent across all ranges.

The system ballistically supports a variety of weapon and ammunition combinations. Shooters can customize it based on observed firing characteristics, such as measured muzzle velocities and pre-transonic zone zeroing or, in other words, just before the bullet starts transitioning to subsonic speeds.

Soldier load is important, and the BOSS is lightweight, weighing 3.5 pounds. It eliminates the need for the discrete sniper accessory kit items currently carried by snipers that perform the same ballistic computation tasks but weigh twice as much.

The system is part of the Army’s overall effort to invest in new, sophisticated small arms fire control systems to enhance Soldier lethality while reducing cognitive burdens under battlefield stress.

“The BOSS is currently designed for snipers, but its technologies can be easily adapted to other small arms weapon systems,” Stonitsch said. “It could be a game-changer for our Warfighters by taking the guesswork out of aiming and making virtually anyone a marksman with the touch of a button.”
If the Army decides to develop, produce and field the BOSS, it could be available to Soldiers as soon as 2020, she said.

Who Remembers The Eagle Industries Chest Pouch SF30 AK

February 16th, 2017

The SF30AK from Eagle Industries was the second chest rig I owned. While stationed in Germany I had purchased a Arktis 42 Pattern Chest Rig. It was very lightweight and served me well but I was always checking out new kit.

Later, while stationed at Ft Bragg, I purchased the SF30AK chest rig, via mail order from Eagle Industries. I chose the OD version because that’s what gear was made from at the time and wouldn’t stick out quite as much as another color. I used it a bit during training but its only operational use was for a time during Operation Restore Democracy in Haiti. When we first went in, we wore RBA, making it a good choice to wear over the armor vest, but later in the deployment, I just wore a JS Industries Predator Vest with a Camelbak in the back slot or an issue ETLBV. Vests you could just slip on while outside the compound, were easier to don and doff than a chest rig.

Mine is long gone, but even years later, I still like the design for its innovation and carrying capacity. The pockets would accept up to 12 magazines and the GP pockets would take canteens or other gear. What’s more the ammo pouches featured Eagle’s silent closure which required a downward pull on the webbing tab to release or attach the flap.

At the rear, there were two male portions of 1″ side release buckles which would allow the attachment of the assault pack from the field pack, large internal frame. However, most everyone cut them off because they would dig in if you wore a pack. The Vest in the photos is later production and has Coyote buckles. Back in the day, they were Black.

Features:
-Four magazine pouches that carry three M4/ M16 or two AK47 magazines each.
-Two large side utility pouches with slotted webbing for “ALICE” clips to hang extra gear.
-Two extra pockets behind the utility pouches.
-One full length inside pocket.
-The back of CP-SF-30AK is padded and uses CoolMax mesh for ventilation and comfort.
-Drop loops will attach to the Eagle Duty Belt or military web belt.
-All closures and fasteners use Mil. Spec. hardware.
-Made in the USA

Unfortunately, they are no longer available.

Did anyone else use this chest rig?

Lancer Tactical Responds to Claims of Counterfeiting Eyewear

February 16th, 2017

We received this email from Lancer Tactical. They offer products for the MilSim market and take issue with a Revision Military press release we recently shared.

To clarify, the “article” referenced by Lancer Tactical was a press release from Revision Military and we had no part in preparing it, as is the case with press releases, which are posted as written by the originator. In a smililar vein, and for the sake of allowing them to tell their side of the story, we have published Lancer Tactical’s note completely and also embedded their press releases.

Recently an article ran on your webpage detailing the claims that Revision made about Lancer Tactical at SHOT Show 2017. Here is a link to your article.

soldiersystems.net/2017/02/02/revision-aids-in-counterfeit-sting-operations-at-two-tradeshows-resulting-in-multiple-arrests/

In our industry Soldier Systems carries weight and Lancer Tactical is disappointed that we were not contacted and asked for a statement before the one sided article was posted.

Here is a statement from Lancer Tactical: www.lancertactical.com/Lancer%20Tactical%20Press%20Statement%20Feb%202017

To Our Loyal Customers,

It has always been the desire of Lancer Tactical to create airsoft products that hold up well on the airsoft field and will fit the budget of both casual and experienced players alike. Recently, Lancer Tactical has been wrongly and aggressively accused of counterfeiting and been attacked in the news.

An article was recently published with inaccurate information about our company, products, and recent events and we would like to clear some things up. First, Lancer Tactical his not guilty of counterfeiting; at no time did we put another companies logo on our products or mislead anyone about the products origin or value. Second, all Lancer Tactical eyewear has undergone and passed ANSI testing, and although they are not military grade, they are definitely safe to use in airsoft, which is the intended use of the eyewear. Third, the people shown in the headline picture of the article are not related to Lancer Tactical in any way.

We are disappointed in many of the media outlets, because at no time was Lancer Tactical asked for a statement or for our side of the story. The slanderous article was simply posted and reposted with no attempt made to tell both sides of the story.

The safety of airsoft players is very important to us and we work hard to make sure that our safety gear will provide all the protection a player needs on the airsoft field. We are fighting right now for the good name of Lancer Tactical and for all the airsoft players who want access to affordable airsoft gear.

We would like to thank you for supporting us during this time.

Thank you to all,

The Lancer Tactical Team

And our press release: http://www.lancertactical.com/Lancer%20Tactical%20Press%20Release

Press Release February, 2nd 2017

The owners of Lancer Tactical, a Southern-California based company that provides a large selection of airsoft guns, tactical gear and accessories to retailers around the country, stressed this week their continued efforts to provide products to their dedicated customers amid allegations of counterfeiting.

“We would like to thank our customers for their continued support and relationship with us,” Lily Chen, co-owner of Lancer Tactical, said. “We strive hard to provide a large selection of products available domestically at competitive prices. Whether you’re a large retail store, hobby shop or airsoft supplier, we are happy to be in business with you.”

On February 2, Revision, a manufacturer and eyewear supplier, published a press release on their website accusing Lancer Tactical owners of counterfeiting their products. Some of the products they allege that have been counterfeit include goggles from their Locust series.

Chen, who attended SHOT Show, an annual firearms convention in Las Vegas, says the goggles they sell are not counterfeits. She said they do not use any of the branding associated with the Vermont-based company, calling their allegations false.

Lancer Tactical, which continues to release new products every week, has hired a prominent lawyer to handle the dispute with the eyewear company.

Lily Chen said, “We want our customers to know that we take the safety claims that Revision made about our safety goggles very seriously. We have ANSI certifications on all our goggle products, and we strenuously tested them ourselves before releasing them for sale. Our goggles are not made for military service members. They are made to protect airsoft players. Both Lancer Tactical and the ANSI rating technicians feel that they are definitely up to the task.”

We would appreciate anything you could do to rectify the situation and see that both side of the story are told.

PROOF Research Achieves AS9100 Aerospace Management Standard Certification

February 16th, 2017

Columbia Falls, Montana – As part of its commitment to quality and to implementing the highest standards in its products, production process, and daily operations, PROOF Research has earned AS9100 certification. This certification-considered the quality-management gold standard in the aerospace industry-is a widely adopted and standardized quality-management system recognized by all major aerospace and defense original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

“The AS9100 standard applies additional and stricter quality requirements for certified companies in their Sales, Design, Purchasing, and Manufacturing departments. At PROOF, our goal is to continually raise the bar in quality and performance across the board, and the AS9100 certification is a key step in reaching that goal,” said CEO Larry Murphy.

AS9100 certification was developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the European Association of Aerospace Industries in 1999. Because certified companies adhere to and comply with AS9100 standards, they are considered “preferred suppliers” for aerospace/defense OEMs. Firms with “preferred supplier” status are typically considered more viable and attractive businesses with which to conduct business in the aerospace/defense industry.
