WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Suppressor Association (ASA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Owen Miller as the ASA’s new Director of Outreach. In this position, he will be responsible for a host of initiatives for the organization as they relate to interaction with the Association’s membership base. This includes responsibility for member engagement, outreach, and retention; new member recruitment; customer service; and compliance inquiries from members. He will begin work immediately.

“We’ve known for quite some time that in order to grow the Association we would need someone focusing on our members fulltime,” said Knox Williams, President and Executive Director of the ASA. “Owen was an ideal candidate for this position and we know that he’s the right guy to get the job done. Not only is he personable and professional, he also brings a decade of knowledge from his time in the suppressor industry to the table. We are incredibly thrilled to have him join our team. Simply put, there is no other person that we would rather have serving as the face of our Association to our membership base than Owen.”

With over 10 years of experience at Gemtech World-Class Silencers, Miller is no stranger to the suppressor industry. In his previous position, his responsibilities ranged from sales to customer service to compliance. Miller has also served on the Board of Directors for other non-profit organizations, assisting with training, leadership and fundraising efforts. His skills in those fields will be an asset to the ASA.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me to take my passion for suppressors, and my experience from a decade at one of the premier suppressor companies, and utilize those skills to support the entire industry,” said Miller. “I am looking forward to working with our members to make sure their voice is heard through the ASA, and to effect positive change for other suppressor enthusiasts like myself. Knox Williams, and the ASA have done an incredible job of advancing suppressor legislation at the state and national levels since its inception, and I look forward to making sure our membership and the industry as a whole are engaged with the Association moving forward.”

The Army’s Architects Visit Polaris Product Development Center

October 13th, 2016

MINNEAPOLIS (October 13, 2016) — General David Perkins, the commanding general of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and members of his staff visited Polaris on Wednesday. Gen. Perkins received product and technology demonstrations at the company’s state-of-the-art engineering and product development center in Wyoming, Minn. The trip is part of the TRADOC commander’s broad benchmarking initiative focused on innovative businesses to identify and support best practices necessary to drive evolution of Army procurement, operations, and engagement.

“As the architect of the Army, TRADOC is tasked with envisioning the future environment so as to identify capability gaps, analyze potential solutions and then determine requirements,” said Gen. Perkins. “Our stop at Polaris is one of many that will help us gain better insight into the rapid technology development and agile supportability paradigms in commercial enterprise, including focused innovation and insertion into applications relevant for the next generation of warfare.”

“At AUSA last week, we showcased our family of ultralight, off-road military vehicles – the best of what’s available today in enhanced tactical mobility – and the tremendous advantage in tactical and strategic mobility they bring to today’s military operations,” said John Olson, PhD, vice president and general manager of Polaris Defense. “Yesterday, we were given the opportunity to fast-forward and show Gen. Perkins and his staff a glimpse at how we leverage our 60 years of off-road vehicle experience to rapidly and affordability develop, test, and deliver the technology and vehicles needed to meet – at the speed of need – the evolving, challenging demands of the nation’s warfighters in the years and decades to come.”

The Polaris Product Development Center opened in Wyoming, Minn., in April 2005. In addition to military technology and advanced vehicle development, the approximately 300,000 square foot facility houses research and development of Victory Motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), RANGER utility vehicles, and Polaris Engines. Capabilities include world-class prototype fabrication and assembly capabilities, laboratories for structural testing, electrical development, materials engineering, and powertrain assembly and dynamometer testing. It also was one of the first facilities to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, created by the United States Green Building Council.

Polaris Defense vehicles deliver a coveted combination of deployability, versatility and off-road mobility, forged from more than 60 years of off-road vehicle experience that is simply unmatched. Vehicles include the rugged Sportsman MV 850, the modular and nimble MRZR, and the flagship DAGOR, which expands upon the range, payload and off-road mobility of any previous tactical light off-road vehicle. The enhanced tactical mobility provided by Polaris Defense gives an advantage back to dismounted troops, allowing formations to move faster, carry more and significantly reduce combat fatigue. Polaris service and support is scalable worldwide and includes military vehicle training, service and maintenance. It also can be supplemented internationally through the Polaris network of distributors, building on the global strength of the Polaris commercial enterprise. And because Polaris vehicles are in service throughout the world, there is a high degree of interoperability and commonality among U.S. and allied forces.

GRIPsher – The Formidable Compact Multi-Tool On Kickstarter

October 13th, 2016

gripsher

The GRIPsher is a compact multitool “dreamt up by an Army Veteran, refined by an MIT engineer, and brought to life with common sense”. The creators of GRIPsher have designed the tool with a variety of functions, including, but not limited to:

  • Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Phillips head and flat head drivers
  • Material thickness gauge
  • Adjustable hex bolt wrench
  • Heavy duty knife
  • Perhaps the most interesting feature of the GRIPsher is the glow-in-the-dark jaws on the bottom of the tool. Dubbed the HEXGRIP system, the jaws serve as a fully adjustable way to secure hex nuts, bolts, and bits.

    black

Additionally, the GRIPsher team is hosting a special program called Tools For Troops. For every GRIPsher black model supported, a version of the GRIPsher with black HEXGRIP jaws will be donated to a military service member; this is the only way to get a GRIPsher with black jaws.

    How Cool Is That?

    October 13th, 2016

I really like Thirty Second Out’s ‘Victory’ print, depicting actor Robert Duvall in his iconic role as Col Kilgore in ‘Apocalypse Now’. Apparently, so does he.  He signed one of the prints and it will be auctioned off to raise money for the World of Honor fund early next year, but you can get yours now at thirtysecondsout.com/products/poster-victory.

NRA TV – Dom Raso Discusses Our Vulnerable Border

    October 12th, 2016

In this installmemt, veteran US Navy SEAL and NRATV Commentator Dom Raso discusses how the policies of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other enabler politicians have left our southern border unprotected, creating an opportunity for ISIS to work with the Mexican cartels to smuggle a nuclear device into America. “If we refuse to even utter the words ‘radical Islamic terror,’ then, through our own inaction, we are enabling the slaughter of innocent people,” Raso says.

“Nowhere is this issue more apparent than at our southern border.” To highlight his point, Raso references an article in Dabiq, ISIS’ magazine, that details a scenario where ISIS uses its billions of dollars to acquire a nuke through corrupt Pakistani officials and pays the cartels to sneak it in through the southern border into America. Speaking about politicians, Raso pulls no punches when talking about how they have comprised the safety of the American people: “all these politicians care about is what their friends in the international community think of them, the same international community that has been utterly devastated by ISIS.”
