SIG SAUER - Never Settle

MDM – Reinmetall Defense – Wiesel 2

September 23rd, 2015

There are a lot of vehicles at Moden Day Marine, but the one that actually surprised me was the Reinmetall Defence Wiesel 2. I spoke with one of the representatives at the booth and he explained that they recently attended the Maneuver Conference at Ft Benning as they showcase the vehicle for an Army armored gun requirement. They are at Modern Day Marine because the Marines have a mortar vehicle requirement.

The base vehicle dates from the 1980s and the slightly larger Wiesel 2 on display, sports an additional road wheel than its predecessor. This means almost twice as much internal volume. It is 4.78 meters long, 2.17 meters high, and 1.87 meters wide. Its weight is 4.78 metric tons (about 10,500 lbs). It is airdroppable and airtransportable in the CH-53.

Interestingly, the US Army Ranger Regiment experimented with the Wiesel in the mid-1990s during a series of armored vehicle trials. Wiesels have also more recently been evaluated during UGV trials here in the US.

MDM – ALG Defense / Raven Concealment Systems

September 23rd, 2015

Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of holster options for pistols equipped with the ALG Defense’s 6-Second Mount. We’ve heard about a model from Raven Concealment Systems and Geiselle Automatics had a preproduction model in their booth.

Bill Geiselle told us that ALG Defense has placed an order with RCS for a run of holsters which should be available soon.

At $80 full retail this is a good buy from SureFire.

A Public Service Message From FIREclean

    September 23rd, 2015

Shared with this caveat. I agree it’s not a good idea to cook with weapon lube and I also think that one should be wary of using a lubricant on a machine that wasn’t designed for use with it.

FIREClean, LLC is issuing an alert to the public regarding wild and reckless rumors and YouTube videos that have been circulating on the Internet related to methods of lubricating firearms. These items pose a danger to public health and safety, and may result in the damage or destruction of firearms and possible injury or loss of life.

Numerous blogs, videos and other social media sources are making reckless claims that cooking oils and other commonly found household items could be a substitute for advanced firearms lubricants, including FIREClean. These claims are false and dangerous.

FIREClean is publicly responding to this controversy by first issuing a safety warning: Using non-formulated cooking oils may lead to devastating and catastrophic failure of your firearm. Attachment mechanisms of various oils to metal surfaces are not commonly understood. Nor is the reaction of different oils to air and other substances. The combination can and often will result in permanent damage to valuable property and render firearms inoperable. This can easily result in catastrophic consequences.

Through social media some individuals are unbelievably encouraging the public to use firearms lubricants and cooking oils interchangeably; but gun lubricants should not be assumed ‘safe’ for consumption or food preparation! For example, our product, FIREClean is not re-labeled Crisco, nor is it relabeled canola oil or simple vegetable oil. The bottle is clearly labeled “do not consume” and those directions should be followed. “Our company urges people not to consume or use FIREClean in the preparation of food.” pointed out Matthew Bergstrom, FIREClean Counsel.

Those relying on a functioning firearm should not take needless risk by using substances not expressly intended for firearms applications. Such a choice could cause the gun to malfunction and render it unable to perform for self-defense, for hunting, for competition, or in the line of duty. At the least, untested substances could risk damage to expensive guns. At worst, a malfunctioning firearm could cause grave bodily injury or death.

“FIREClean is a patent pending extreme performance gun oil. It is odorless, biodegradable, safe, and made in the USA. A product like FIREClean has undergone years of research, development, and testing requiring firing hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition and about as many dollars. The result is an extraordinary formula helping ensure the reliability, durability, and easy cleaning of firearms”, confirmed Bergstrom.

Whatever product gun owners ultimately choose to use, firearms safety concerns should urge the use of a tested, proven product. The shooting public’s safety – – your safety – – and maximizing the performance of your firearms especially for duty and self-defense use, is FIREClean’s primary objective.

INI Power Systems – Award-Winning Tactical Hybrid Solutions Provider Showcasing Real-Time Innovations To Bridge Power, Energy Capability Gaps

    September 23rd, 2015

QUANTICO, VA. & RESEARCH TRIANGLE, N.C. — Award-winning tactical hybrid solutions provider INI Power Systems will be sharing its expertise in portable flex fuel generator technology at the Modern Day Marine expo September 22-24 in Quantico, Virginia.

Co-sponsored by Marine Corps Base, Quantico, this event is one of the premier military equipment, systems, services, and technology expositions in the world.

“We’re thrilled to be participating again as one of the exhibiting companies to share our knowledge and products with the 8,000-plus attendees expected at the Crossroads of the Corps,” INI Power Chairman and President Larry Markoski said.

Markoski – holder of 15 patents in multiple fields – is the lead inventor and developer of INI Power’s flex fuel engine and generator technologies – and will be located in the Small Business Pavilion, Booth #25.

INI Power will be featuring its real-time innovations that bridge worldwide power and Operational Energy capability gaps for autonomous and hybrid operations, including 500 Watt, 1kW, 2kW, and 5kW One Man Portable auto starting solutions.

The company’s pioneering Flex Fuel Generators with OMNIVORE engine technology convert commercial, off-the-shelf gasoline-only generator systems into flexible and versatile multi-fuel (MF) systems. This makes them capable of operation with a large array of compressed and liquid fuels, including medium distillate fuels in support of the Department of Defense’s JP-8/F-24 Single Fuel Forward requirements.

The agnostic fuel architecture of INI Power products (JP-8, F-24 “NATO”, gasoline, propane, methanol, isopropanol) allows for the use of any fuel, in any AOR, in any combination, thereby allowing Warfighters to generate instantaneous power (no start up time) from any military logistical fuel, in addition to any fuels available off of the local economy, including contaminated fuels typically found in remote AORs for a wide-ranging number of mission sets.

INI Power’s 1kW auto starting generator solution was down selected for the MARCORSYSCOM One Man Portable Generator (1MPG) Program of Record, and is currently in full rate production supporting Marines and FMF CONOPS throughout the world.

INI’s latest 5kW product offering is the ideal, right sized, spot power generation solution for Airborne Command Posts, EOD Mission Sets, Surgical Shelters, ECUs, Mobile Readiness and Construction CONOPS, and Contingency Readiness Operations.

Visit www.inipowersystems.com for more information about right-sized, man portable, fuel agnostic power solutions for deployments to remote, austere, unimproved environments anywhere in the world.
