PenCott-GreenZone Camouflage Fabric Available Once Again!

December 6th, 2024

50/50 poly-cotton ripstop stretch tactical fabric produced in partnership with 707 Tactical Gear.

Hyde Definition Ltd., the parent company of the PenCott® camouflage brand, today announces the long-awaited return of GreenZone™ camouflage garment fabric for wholesale purchasing.

Production of PenCott camouflage fabrics unfortunately ended a few years ago because of circumstances in the supply chain that were beyond the company’s control. Now, thanks to our long-time partners at 707 Tactical Gear, PenCott camouflage pattern fabrics are available again.

First up is a new breathable 50/50 polyester-cotton mix fabric with mechanical stretch and a ripstop weave. Of a more comfortable lighter weight (195 grams per square meter) than military standard 50/50 NyCo (205 grams per square meter) and treated with Bionic Finish® C6 for water and oil resistance and Silver+® anti-bacterial treatment, this fabric is ideal to produce modern tactical and outdoor garments.

Note: to provide an economical price point, and to avoid possible import / export restrictions, this fabric does not incorporate US/NATO nIR performance standards.

GreenZone has won many loyal users all over the world because of its exceptional concealment performance–as well as for not being an official military pattern. This led to PenCott being adopted by numerous law enforcement units and security agencies, as well as being used by special operations units that want to conceal their presence and identity effectively. We have received numerous testimonials from these professional end users of how impressed they have been with the effectiveness of the patterns, and the success of their missions as a result–which is ultimately why we do what we do.

This current production run of poly-cotton GreenZone fabric is the first step in bringing PenCott fabrics back onto the market. A production run of 500D nylon GreenZone is in planning, as well as additional fabric types and colorways.

Also visit SK7USA.com to also see their fully restocked range of finished products in mil-spec 50/50 NyCo and 500D nylonPenCott GreenZone and BadLands patterns.

PenCott is named in honor of two WWII British camouflage pioneers – Sir Roland Penrose and Dr. Hugh Cott – and is the result of several years of individual scientific development by Dominic Hyde. The PenCott pattern geometry combines false edges for superior shape disruption (high-difference color boundaries) as well as the illusion of 3D depth through texture matching techniques (hypo-acuitive dithering). The pattern also includes micro, midi, and macro sized fractals for both blending and disrupting properties.

707 Tactical Gear™ is a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of innovative and advanced tactical and military apparel and footwear. The company offers its products commercially under the SK7® brand with shipping worldwide.

Army Forum Focuses on Contested Logistics

December 6th, 2024

FORT DETRICK, Md. — “What if today were C-Day?”

This was the question Col. Marc Welde asked the group of logistics leaders gathered for a Commander’s Forum, hosted Nov. 18-21, 2024, at U.S. Army Medical Logistics Command headquarters at Fort Detrick.

C-Day refers to the unnamed day on which a deployment operation “commences” with troop and equipment movements, requiring lock-step logistical readiness.

Welde’s sobering question readied them for four days of discussion around current and future capabilities of medical logistics — from setting the theater to sustaining large-scale combat operations where supply chains are contested, communications lines are disrupted and air superiority is not a given.

“I know we have an amazing workforce, and I believe we are up to the challenge,” the AMLC commander said. “But make no mistake, this is a challenge.”

Maj. Gen. James D. Turinetti IV, commanding general of U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, AMLC’s higher headquarters, provided opening remarks to the forum, encouraging the group to maintain pace with the Army’s transformation efforts.

“I cannot overstate the tremendous efforts AMLC has taken to ensure we, as a command, are at the forefront of modernization, specifically with Medical Logistics in Campaigning,” Turinetti wrote to the CECOM workforce after attending the event. “Our team was lucky enough to recently witness firsthand the real-world importance of the [Medical Logistics in Campaigning] mission, as our visit to Europe was highlighted by the overall scale of the USAMMC-E mission as well as their impressive use of power dashboards for data-driven decisions.”

Forum attendees included leaders from AMLC’s direct reporting units, as well as headquarters primary and special staff. Leaders provided updates on Medical Logistics in Campaigning initiatives, which are the Army’s transformational effort to overhaul outdated processes and systems and integrate medical materiel management and maintenance into the sustainment enterprise.

Deeper discussions delved into resources, including funding and organizational structure. The teams discussed the command’s ongoing assessment of command and support relationships across its entire footprint to include external stakeholders, driving toward effectively providing MEDLOG mission support through competition, crisis and conflict.

AMLC’s direct reporting units, U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center-Europe and U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center-Korea — both of which serve as theater lead agents for medical materiel — provided briefs on their respective theater support. The U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency, also a direct reporting unit to AMLC, highlighted the readiness of its medical Army Prepositioned Stocks and other contingency programs.

AMLC’s Integrated Logistics Support Center showcased emerging capabilities for data analytics and precision sustainment, as well as AMLC’s Logistics Assistance Program, charged with providing expert technical support to set and sustain operational medical capability for commanders through campaigning, competition, crisis and conflict.

Key events included a leadership professional development led by Maj. Gen. Paula Lodi, commanding general of U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command. Lodi shared her experiences as commanding general of a theater medical command, specifically her sustainment lessons learned and opportunities for the MEDLOG enterprise.

AMLC Command Sgt. Maj. Gabriel Wright also led a professional development session on the role of non-commissioned officers and how commands can best use these capable leaders to increase readiness and unit cohesion.

“We are in a people business,” Wright said. “We don’t lead buildings. We lead people.”

To that point, the forum also featured a variety of team-building events, from physical training to dining events and smaller workgroups focused on campaign strategy. These events provided organic opportunities for the workforce to spend time together and build professional relationships.

The final day of the forum included a battle staff ride to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, led by U.S. Army War College Provost Dr. David Dworak. A certified “demonstrated master logistician,” author and historian, Dworak guided the group through several key battles and highlighted specific logistics challenges, including resource allocation, prioritization, supply chain issues and technology limitations in the early stages of conflict.

The Civil War served as a stark reminder of the cost of war, as more than 620,000 people died and an estimated 1.5 million people were injured.

“The real taxpayer of war is the Soldier because they pay for it with their life,” said USAMMC-E Commander Col. Chad Vermillion, as the group gathered near a barn converted into a make-shift hospital. “Who here thinks we are ever going to have enough resources?

“So, the real question is how do we communicate risk to senior leaders?”

Japan Maritime Defense Force Selects SeaGuardians From GA-ASI

December 5th, 2024

SAN DIEGO – 03 December 2024 – The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) has selected the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) SeaGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) systems for its Long Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program. This follows JMSDF use of SeaGuardian since May 2023 as part of its Medium-Altitude, Long Endurance (MALE) RPA System Trial Operations Project.
SeaGuardian has been used by JMSDF to conduct various tests including whether unmanned aircraft can supplant some of the missions currently accomplished with manned aircraft. SeaGuardian is a MALE RPA system that can fly for 24 hours or more, depending on the configuration.
GA-ASI has strengthened its Maritime Wide Area Surveillance (MWAS) for Japan with Optix+, which gathers information from the SeaGuardian sensors, as well as other data sources, displaying the full picture of surveillance information for its operator. This functionality makes it easy to task and direct its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) information in real time. GA-ASI’s Optix+ software suite rapidly correlates and exploits collected data into an easily shared common operational picture. Having multi-source correlated data enables automatic detection of anomalous behaviors over waters.
SeaGuardian features two multi-mode maritime surface-search radars with an Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imaging mode, an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, and a High-Definition – Full-Motion Video sensor equipped with optical and infrared cameras as well as electronic intelligence receivers. This sensor suite enables real-time detection and identification of surface vessels over thousands of square nautical miles and provides automatic tracking of maritime targets and correlation of AIS transmitters with radar and electronic intelligence tracks.

Elbit Systems UK Delivers Full Suite of Fires Training to the British Armed Forces

December 5th, 2024

I/ITSEC, Florida – 4th December 2024: Elbit Systems UK (ESUK), a defence technology business, has completed the System Acceptance Trials (SAT) for the mobile component of the Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer (Mobile) (JFST(M)). JFST delivers high-fidelity immersive training for troops who direct fires from artillery, combat aircraft, helicopters, or Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles – known as Joint Fires Operators. With the completion of these final trials, ESUK has delivered its sixth and final JFST training platform type to Front-Line Commands.

This milestone means that ESUK has delivered all six capabilities of the JFST platform to the British Armed Forces. ESUK previously delivered five of the six different variants of JSFT systems to bases across the UK including at the Royal School of Artillery, Larkhill, and the Air Ground Operations School at RAF Leeming. The systems fielded include a 285-degree dome for JTAC training, versions to provide mounted and dismounted training as well as the capabilities to provide the training needed for personnel to conduct battle group level exercises. To date, JFST has delivered over 12,000 hours of training to British Armed Forces and NATO allies.

The inaugural deployment of JFST(M) training has been delivered to 3 Commando Brigade Fires Personnel in Scotland. With further training exercises planned, the family of JFST training solutions offers users a fully immersive experience, allowing users to sense, decide and control joint effects without the need for expensive military assets – bearing cost efficiencies for all branches of the Armed Forces and boosting training capacity.

The JFST training system is part of ESUK’s solutions-based approach to working with the British Armed Forces. With a wide selection of training on offer, the business’ innovative approach provides full training solutions without the need to combine live air, land, and sea assets – saving Armed Forces time and money.

The 285-degree dome system has also passed US and NATO accreditation meaning that it can be used by allied nations to provide JTAC and joint fires training to deliver better prepared Armed Forces Personnel.

Martin Fausset, CEO of Elbit Systems UK said:

“JFST is a highly capable and technologically advanced training system which has demonstrated the benefits synthetic training can provide to the British Armed Forces. We will continue to support this training for all branches of the Armed Forces”.
