Panteao Launches IndieGoGo Campaign For Alexander’s Bridge Independent Film Project

March 3rd, 2014

Bridge_Banner_2_Medium

Columbia, SC, March 3, 2014 – Panteao Pictures announces the launch of an IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign for the upcoming independent film, Alexander’s Bridge.

Alexander’s Bridge is a science fiction/action film about an elite team of US Army Delta Force Operators accidentally sent back 150 years to the middle of the Civil War. Finding themselves where a battle is about to take place and where thousands of Federal and Confederate soldiers will be killed or wounded, they must decide what to do. Can they make a difference? Who will they try to help? Will they get back home?

Alexander’s Bridge is not a film with a political agenda. It portrays both sides of the battle in a neutral a manner. It is a story about the soldiers themselves having to work together, similar to Band of Brothers.

Filming of key footage for Alexander’s Bridge was already completed during the recent 150th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Chickamauga where thousands of reenactors took to the field. To add to the quality of the production, Panteao chose to film Alexander’s Bridge in digital 4K resolution, a much higher video quality over films shot in HD or 2K resolution. Behind the scenes footage is also being shot while the movie is made with interviews with the cast, crew, and reenactors.

Panteao has gone to great lengths to keep the level of authenticity of the film as high as possible by working closely with retired military personnel and Civil War reenactors. In addition to subject matter experts, companies like TNVC, MSA, Velocity Systems, Safariland, Hatch, Twin Industries Water Transfer, Henry Repeating Arms, EOTech, Viking Tactics, Tango Down, Surefire, Nightforce, Gerber, Remington, Advanced Armament, Smith & Wesson, Winkler Knives, SOD, SUUNTO, and Salomon have all stepped up to help Panteao with making sure the gear used in the film is spot on in accuracy.

Panteao has been self-funding Alexander’s Bridge, already having filmed key scenes for the movie and is commencing the remainder of filming in September. In an effort to not cut corners or compromise on the quality of the film, Panteao has turned to crowd-funding via IndieGoGo in order to raise additional funds for the project. Every penny raised from the campaign will be spent on the production of the film. Supporters of the campaign will receive items ranging from PDF copies of the script to movie t-shirts, posters, challenge coins, DVD of the movie, and even a chance to visit the set and be in the film.

Freewaters/SKD Tactical – MultiCam Scamp Sandals

March 3rd, 2014

Scamp 1

The MultiCam Scamp is the result of a collaboration between Freewaters and SKD Tactical. The Scamp is the first commercial sandal with authentic, IR-compliant MultiCam material, featured on the soft webbing toe strap. It also features an ultra-comfortable footbed pattern licensed from Therm-A-Rest, akin to a Z Lite sleeping pad, which channels out water and air cools the foot. The strong, sponge rubber outsole provides grip and flexibility. Additionally, 1% of Freewater’s sales go to well digging projects in impoverished countries with areas without access to fresh water.

Sneak Peek – Dogbone T1 Mount from Hodge Defense/Mega Arms

March 3rd, 2014

During last week’s TTRH 2014, Hodge Defense Systems Inc and Mega Arms LLC gave me a sneak peek at their new MRDS Mount.

20140302-162144.jpg

Manufactured from 7075 aluminum, the Dogbone mount for the Aimpoint T1 is a joint project from Hodge Defense and Mega Arms. The mount gets it’s name from the Dogbone shaped clamp that holds it against a Mil Std 1913 rail.

This is a prototype, so there will be a couple of changes to the final, production model. For instance, they are adding a pin at the bottom of the mount to self center and the two cross bolts will change to Torx #20 heads with no threading at the ends.

There also mounting plates in the works to allow lower 1/3rd cowitness as well as true cowitness. Additionally, they plan to introduce plates for other mini red dot sights. Look for it this summer.

RAAF Officially Launches GPU

March 1st, 2014

Yesterday during the Centenary of Military Aviation Airshow at RAAF Williams at Point Cook, the Royal Australian Air Force officially unveiled the new General Purpose Uniform.

20140301-062146.jpg

We talked about the GPU awhile back which is a garrison uniform for non-wartime deployers like the USAF ABU. However, it will be worn for some deployment scenarios such as humanitarian assistance. According to the RAAF, the pattern is an Air Force specific version of the Australian MultiCam Pattern (AMP) already in-use in Afghanistan.

“The purpose of the GPU is to provide a unique and easily identifiable Air Force presence to the Australian Defence and civilian communities, consistent with the Air Force’s distinctive identity and still effective in meeting our service requirements,” AIRMSHL Brown said.

“The GPU will begin from today to replace the current camouflage uniform, also worn by Army, for general base duties and in non-warlike environments such as humanitarian tasks and Defence assistance to the civil community.”

RAAF personnel should look for these by the end if 2015.
