We’ve been writing about Klymit since the very beginning and this newest project, utilizing their Nobletek insulation draws straight from those roots.
Launched recently on Kickstarter, the Ulaar jacket features a body chambered, baffle torso for the NobleTek. Their VWT (Variable Warmth Technology) utilizes stable Argon gas as insulation. Based on conditions you fill the chambers as much as you need to stay comfortable.
the Ulaar incorporates a Low Friction 50D Polyester Shell combined with a Bamboo Charcoal Impregnated Liner as well as Welded Arm Pockets. Sized XSmall – XXXLarge, learn more at www.kickstarter.com/projects/2075028552/ulaar-jacket
Tactical Tactical has informed me that Nate Smith has joined their team specifically to support the SOF client. He brings a great pedigree to the position.
Nate Smith served with 1st and 2nd Ranger Battalions in the US Army from 1993 to 2000. While a member of the Regiment Nate graduated from several military courses including the U.S. Army Ranger School, Special Operations Training (CQB), Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape and Advanced Demolitions Training. In 1994 Nate deployed to Haiti in support of Operation Uphold Democracy. Nate’s duty positions included machine gun and rifle team leader as well as rifle and weapon squad leader billets. Nate also served as the Battalion Training Non Commissioned Officer at 2nd Ranger Battalion.
In 2000 Nate joined a Seattle metro area police department and served there for 8 years. His assignments included Patrol, Special Operations, adjunct instructor and criminal intelligence. He earned instructor certifications through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy in Defensive Tactics and firearms.
In 2008 Nate left law enforcement to work as a private security contractor. He has worked extensively in both Iraq and Afghanistan on State Department, Department of Defense and other classified contracts in high threat, non-permissive environments.
Nate is the former unit director the 2nd Battalion Chapter of the 75th Ranger Regiment Association and remains an active member of the Association.
Nate has worked as an instructor for ArmorGroup, General Dynamics (Stryker Infantry Vehicle) and SOC. Narcotics, Patrol Rifle, Riot Control and HAZMAT patches have been added to SOTech’s line of Police Symbology. The patches are hook and loop backed and also have a low-profile fabric loop for hang cord attachment for use as a gear bag identifier. The first symbology patches SOTech designed were military oriented and are provided on official SOCOM issue Mission Go Bags and SOF medical bags identifying the contents of the bags for quick recognition in the field. From these symbols, SOTech developed the TMPST magnet tile planning and training tool that is currently in use throughout the Army. Over the last year personnel from LAPD, LASD and other local departments have been working with SOTech to adapt both TMPST and the symbology patches for law enforcement use. Stay tuned, SOTech is already designing another set with input from SSD reader suggestions.
Juggernaut Defense, LLC is currently delivering cases to US Army’s PM-SWAR and US SOF for the Motorola ATRIX and RAZR-MAXX. They also have new cases and mounts for several other EUD’s (smartphones) that we’re engineering and testing currently. You’ll get your fist chance to see them at next week’s AUSA as they are unveiled along with several new Tactical Radio Docks in the Glenair, Inc. booth (Booth #4140 on Lower Level).
Juggernaut has spent the past 12 months evaluating the dismounted warfighter’s kit in great detail; right down to the last connector/cable and have simplified it to the most basic level to reduce cost, weight, and complexity. Working closely with the US Army, Juggernaut Defense designed a system that utilized the Android ‘smartphone on the battlefield’ approach combined with a low cost tactical radio and built a kit that not only meets but exceeds the user’s requirements for a sealed, ruggedized solution that can be fielded downrange.
