Sneek Peak – 2013 Hot Shots Calendar

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

This interview-style video features models Rosie Jones and India Reynolds and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the Hot Shots Calendar girls. It’s not recommended for work so you should probably watch it from home.

Several SSD sponsors are working on this project. Smith Optics, Magpul and Crye Precision along with the UK’s Edgar Bros have banded together to help the Hot Shots Calendar project generate revenue for injured US & UK Service men and women.

Please remember, you can purchase a 2012 calendar, posters and cards at www.hotshotscalendar.com. 50% of the proceeds are donated to the UK based Help for Heroes.

What Lurks in the New York Night

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Haley Strategic Partners recently held a Disruptive Environments Urban Darkness exercise in New York. Participants were a mix of law enforcement narco/counter terrorism background.

In the photos, look for BCM, Mayflower Research, Smith Optics, Mechanix Gloves, Battery ACOGs, EOTech, HSP Thorntail Light Mounts, Surefire Mags, HSGI pouches, G-Code Holsters, B5 Systems and Arcteryx LEAF.

HSP discovered that Arc’teryx Wolf Grey is great for interiors but found Croc actually more suited to the “yellow” light of the NYC night. The team ran a mix of Croc tops with their civy Raider pants in graphite.

New Eyepro from Smith Optics

Friday, January 6th, 2012

At SHOT Show 2012 Smith Optics Elite Division is officially unveiling a couple of new eyeshields in a line called Aegis which denotes the lens type. The Aegis Arc and Aegis Arc Compact share similar geometries but the Compact model is naturally a little smaller to accommodate smaller faces. One of the most exciting things about the Aegis line is the innovative PivLock Lens Interchange Technology that allows for fast lens exchange.

Additionally, the Aegis Echo is designed specifically for those wearing helmet and headset combinations. It features ultrathin moldable temples that hug close to the head but don’t make it feel like you’re being squeezed in a vice.

One major announcement is the frames are MultiCam. It seems odd, but Smith is the first company to offer production eyepro with MutliCam frames. This isn’t just about looks. While they’re going to do a better job of blending in to the wearer’s overall ensemble, Smith Optics delivers performance as well. They combine Tapered Lens Technology to make sure what you see is optically correct with full UV protection in addition to meeting US Standard MIL-PRF-31013, ANSI Z87.1-2003 and EN 166 standards.

Additionally, the Aegis Eyeshield is exclusive to Tactical Assault Gear at SHOT Show.

Smith Optics Elite Division will be in booth #7310 at SHOT Show.

Maneuver Conference – Smith Optics

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Smith Optics was on hand and they were killing it. I couldn’t get far enough into the booth to grab a sneak peek of any of their black bag projects, but let me tell you, you are going to like them when they come out.
