Gunfighter Moment – Mike Glover

Saturday, March 25th, 2017

This week’s Gunfighter Moment is a little different. Rather than a lesson from one of the Bravo Company’s Gunfighters, I’m going to tell you about Mike Glover’s podcast, “FieldCraft Survival” which offers even more access to this BCM Gunfighter.

Already in its 20th episode, “FieldCraft Survival” covers a wide range of subjects such as kit, tactical medicine, nutrition, weapons, and mindset. In fact, mindset is one of Mike’s strong suits and his talks are very insightful as he relates personal experiences into the podcasts. When he is joined by others, the interaction is engaging as one tip builds on the next. For those interested in pursuing a career in special operations, these podcasts offer excellent insight.

This isn’t Mike’s first go at podcasts. Previously, he’s been featured on the Global Recon podcast and had short go at a predecessor to his current endeavor called, “FieldCraft Survival Presents“. To subscribe from iTunes, visit itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/fieldcraft-survival.

Mike’s podcast library offers a whole new dimension to his features here on Gunfighter Moment. It’s definitely worth a listen and I will put it on in the truck while driving. It is a great way to pass the time and pick up a new perspective along the way.

TenCate Advanced Armour New CXP Shield: New World’s Lightest Portable NIJ Level IV Shield

Friday, March 24th, 2017

TenCate Advanced Armour will reveal a new generation of ultra-lightweight portable anti-ballistic shields at this year’s SOFINS in France. The TenCate CXP shields, offering full NIJ 0108.01 level IV protection, are now more than 40% lighter than existing alternatives.

Military equipment has drastically changed over the last decade. Technologies such as C3I, weapon optics and body armour have improved the tactical awareness and effectiveness of the modern soldier. One of the drawbacks is the increasing operational load soldiers must carry and it is not unusual for Special Forces operators to carry 50 to 60kg per mission. Soldiers have never been better equipped, but also never been so overloaded and this has a direct influence on their mobility and capability to fight.

TenCate Advanced Armour is aware of this issue and devotes a maximum attention to the design and engineering of more protective, lighter, personal protection products. TenCate Advanced Armour is now presenting the latest development of its CXP series: the new Targa-Light CXP-802 TL.

The TenCate Targa-light™ CXP-802 TL shield offers full NIJ 0108.01 Level IV protection. Compared to existing products in the market, TenCate Advanced Armour have saved up to 40% in weight for the same protection surface, making the CXP-802 TL the lightest full Level IV shield in the world. At only 13.5 kg, the TenCate Targa-light™ CXP-802 TL is a milestone for TenCate Advanced Armour in its mission to provide the lightest functional personal protection equipment and increase individual soldier survivability. The true value of ultra-lightweight shields can be expressed in terms of increased operational capability and durability.

The new ultra-light shields will be able to accommodate a wealth of auxiliary equipment, including LED lights, day/night/IR cameras and leg protection.

The CXP-802 TL shield will be revealed at the SOFINS exhibition, held in Camp de Souge, Bordeaux (France) from 28-30 March. TenCate Advanced Armour is located on stand C38 and the shield will be available at the stand, along with a selection of personal protection and body armour solutions from TenCate Advanced Armour’s wide portfolio.

TenCate Advanced Armour is the global strategic partner in lightweight survivability systems and works with OEMs and end-users to provide the lightest survivability solutions available. TenCate Advanced Armour has wide experience in developing survivability solutions in accordance with customer requirements in terms of weight, protection level, and performance for air, sea, land and personal protection.

Brad Meyers 1941-2017

Thursday, March 23rd, 2017

Founder and CEO Emeritus of B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc.

Bradley Edward Meyers: 1941-2017
It is with great sadness that the family and employees of B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. announce the recent death of our Founder, Chief Innovator, and friend, Bradley Edward Meyers. Brad passed from this earth on the evening of 21 March, 2017, after complications due to a recent illness, and he was surrounded by family in his final moments at home. We are stunned and heartbroken by his loss.

Passionate. Positive. Persistent.
Brad graduated from high school in Brookfield, Wisconsin in 1959, afterwards attending a semester of college before leaving to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and make his own way. Brad held a variety of jobs over the years, such as selling orange juice and encyclopedias door-to-door in the 1960’s, truck driver, grave digger, medical and scientific equipment salesman at Roemer-Karr, explosives technician at EXCOA, commercial diver at his company Controlled Dynamics, astronomer, night vision equipment manufacturer, and lastly as the individual that set B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc. on our current path of systems integration and advanced photonics. He was the consummate entrepreneur, and was unwavering in his positive outlook in life, passion for new ideas, and persistent pursuit of his goals.

Innovation and Imagination
Brad’s legacy is primarily known by many in the Special Operations community through his products such as the IZLID™, DIAL™, GLARE™, MK Ranger™, and GRI2P™ series of lasers, as well as the B.E. Meyers Flash Hider line. He cited that his special gift was in finding the right people to help him reapply existing technologies in new ways to help the Warfighter. He was terrifically proud of the tremendous team that helped bring his ideas to life, and his legacy will continue on as the company is propelled by his infectious enthusiasm for the new, the different, and the exciting.

Memorial
Brad is mourned by his wife of forty-four years, Nancy; sons: Clint and Matthew; daughter, Rebecca; grandchildren: Jack and Alena; son-in-law, John; and daughter-in-law, Nicolle. Brad was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Arthur Meyers and his mother, Mabel Heidtman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He also leaves behind his faithful friend and tireless canine companion, Shadow.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the first responders of Eastside Fire and Rescue (WA), King County Sheriff’s Office (WA), and Sammamish Police Department (WA) for their support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the Meyers family asks that donations be made in Brad’s honor to charities that align with his interests, specifically, the Special Operations Care Fund, the National Rifle Association ILA, and his home church, the Community Church of Joy in Sammamish, WA.

Memorial service information will be forthcoming to industry, family, and friends. For questions regarding memorial attendance, please contact Mary Hance at mary.hance@bemeyers.com.
