Thanks to Grey Group for putting this out there.

M14 Riser Stock Pouch

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Tired of seeing Soldiers attaching pillows with 100 mph tape to the back of their stocks to get proper cheek welds, Tactical Night Vision Company teamed with US PALM to develop the M14 Riser Stock Pouch. Since not everyone in the military gets issued an adjustable stock, let alone most of the LE and commercial markets, TNVC contacted US PALM with their tactical nylon expertise, and the project was kicked into high gear. The RSP© Mod.0 is designed to fit the M14 as well as the M1A and easily attaches to these stocks to provide the shooter with a stable, optimum comb height. It also includes a built-in horizontal magazine pouch that holds a single USGI 20rd M14 magazine as well as a fast-access clear sleeve pocket for DOPE/Range cards and/or target photos. The RSP© Mod.0 is the first in a series of Riser Stock Pouches and new models for other platforms will be forthcoming. Naturally, the RSP© is made in the US from 500d Cordura.

RPG-7 Gunner Team Accessory Kit

Monday, May 24th, 2010

We know some of our readers are rolling with RPGs and when we saw the new RPG-7 Gunner Team Accessory Kit from Blackheart International we knew we had to put the word out even though chances are good those who needed to know already did. Blackheart specializes in foreign weapons and they have gone all out to develop several products for the RPG-7 crew.

The kit combines BHI’s RPG Gunner Backpack, RPG Assistant Gunner Backpack, and RPG Rocket Quiver which we have covered before with the RPG-7 Dust Cover, Adjustable Sling, Launcher/Optics Padded Cary Case, their ingenious Boresight Device, and Four-Piece Cleaning Kit. They have also added their excellent RPG-7 Practical Usage Guide to the mix. BHI’s weapons manuals are the best we have seen and hold a special place in our reference library. All in all, it’s pretty much everything you need except the launcher and rockets.

To order the complete kit or any of the other RPG accessories visit www.bhigear.com.

A Gun for Everyone

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Some interesting factoids. Not sure of the veracity of some but it does show both sides of the issue. Of note is that despite the assertions of Hollywood and those interested in curtailing our gun rights, neither the Glock nor the AK are the most commonly used guns in crime. It’s huge so click on the picture and you will be taken to an external link with the entire chart in a size you can read.

New Knives from SOG

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

SOG Specialty Knives and Tools has introduced several new knives but here are my two favorites from a utilitarian standpoint.

Swedge II
In conjunction with Brent Beshara, a Canadian special ops military instructor, martial artist, and custom knife maker, SOG has created the Swedge, featuring a new blade geometry that makes the tips of knives stronger and less prone to breaking. There are three different shapes in the Swedge series. Shown is the Swedge II. All knives within the Swedge line, which are available in 8.3”, 9.2” and 10.1” lengths, feature a full tang, G10 handles and a Kydex sheath offering a variety of mounting options.

SOGfari Machete
The first ever SOG machete has paid careful attention to the weight and comfortable handles for extended use. They have added a saw to the back of the blade and a spiked tang from the back of the handle for pounding and scraping as well as holes in the handle for lanyards. Available in 13” and 18” lengths. The price point is so good on this one that I plan on picking one up just to replace my old GI machete.

MOLLE Tee Mount

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

National Molding recently showed us a few of their new items and this one in particular will find lots of use once it hits the market. Manufactured from Acetal, the Berry compliant MOLLE Tee Mount allows you to suspend either a male or female portion of a side release buckle from a MOLLE channel. It’s easy; attach the Tee Mount to a piece of bartacked webbing, slide it into place in the channel, and attach the positive snap bar found on one of their repair buckles to the the other end of the webbing. It’s a great DIY piece.

The MOLLE Tee Mount is available in a variety of military colors. Visit www.nationalmolding.com.

Point Blank Files Chapter 11 – For Reals

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

They really did it this time. No more of that temporary protection crap. Point Blank Solutions filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Federal District Court in Wilmington Delaware on Wednesday citing the same reasons they asked for temporary protection last month. According to recently filed documents, they list assets of $63.9 million and debt of $68.5 million as of Feb. 28 so no word on the impact of the $20 million of Debtor-in-Possession (“DIP”) financing they had arranged for in April. A sizable portion of the debt is said to be tied to their former CEO so it has been difficult to find a buyer to get them back on track.

Brits Recommended MultiCam to US Army? Excuse Me While I Guffaw

Friday, May 21st, 2010

This is just precious. In a recent press release from the MoD, Colonel Stephen James, Project Team Leader for the Defence Equipment and Support Clothing Team, who was responsible for delivering the new British Multi Terrain Pattern to British forces had this to say, “We have presented the new designs to the US Department of Defense and, following our recommendations, the US Army are about to adopt the same technology for their uniform in Afghanistan.”

Ok, so there you have it. The recommendation of the British Army, after their experience in adopting MTP a MultiCam-like pattern developed by Crye Precision, is what is responsible for the US Army’s recent decision to field MultiCam to units operating in Afghanistan. I guess it has nothing to do with the results of an arduous selection process carried out by PEO-Soldier and their partners at Natick, AWG, ATEC, and the Infantry Center in which MultiCam was deemed superior to the other candidates.
