Warrior West – Canadian Urban Environment Type III

Monday, May 9th, 2016

Here you can see Hyperstealth’s Guy Cramer wearing their Urban Environment Type III developed for a Canadian requirement which originated in 2009 by the Department of National Defence, Defence Research and Development Canada – Suffield, (DRDC-S) in Alberta to develop a Canadian Urban Environment Pattern (CUEPAT) based on the unique requirements of Canada’s three major metropolitan areas, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. CUEPAT was intended for use on CBRNE suits.

Back in 2012, we showed you their developmental Types I & II.

Both are seen here along with arid coloration samples (CUEPAT 2 is left, CUEPAT 1 is right). While Types I amd II were meant for use in highly urbanized areas, the Type III at the top is tuned for use in the suburbs where concrete transitions to greenway.

TYR Tactical – Tactical Uniform Belt, G-Hook Variant

Monday, May 9th, 2016

During last week’s Warrior West Range Day, I got a chance to check out TYR Tactical’s mobile showroom.  I was kind of like Yoda going through Luke’s gear on Degobah and I ran across this new belt.  The Tactical Unifom Belt is a low profile design, meant for keeping your pants up.  Made from padded softshell material, this variant incorporates a G-hook closure at the front.  It’s easy to adjust and get through your belt loops.

The acquisition builds upon Federal Resources’ mission to increase market penetration and provide its customers with complete life-cycle sustainment solutions.

Stevensville, MD — April 29, 2016 — Federal Resources Supply Company (FRSC), a leading government contracting company, announced today that it has acquired KD Analytical Consulting, Inc. The acquisition significantly expands upon Federal Resources’ current success in providing high-quality, cost-effective total life-cycle solutions for its customers in first response and special mission operations of Department of Defense, state and local agencies, first responders, navy fleet and commercial marine organizations. In addition, KD Analytical’s expertise in critical infrastructure protection and environmental analysis greatly advances Federal Resources’ capability to serve these complementary markets.

Founded in 2003, Harrisburg, PA based KD Analytical Consulting, Inc. (KDA) is a leader in the support of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) detection equipment and provides worldwide mission sustainment, technical support, service and training to government and military first responders, critical infrastructure protection and environmental analytical clients. Belleville – Exodus 451

Monday, May 9th, 2016

During last week’s Warrior West I got to check out a new hot weather boot from Belleville. The Exodus 451 incorporates Gore-Tex Extended Comfort Technology.

This new construction is radically different than what you are used to with Gore-Tex lined boots. In the past, they used a bootie shaped liner that was sewn into the boot. With Gore-Tex Extended Comfort Technology, the membrane is laminated directly to the boot’s outer material, mimicking the construction of outerwear. The result is a boot that is lighter, cooler to the foot in hot weather, and more breathable.

Initially, the Exodus 451 is offered in Black, but a Coyote version is on the way.

Suunto Traverse Alpha

Monday, May 9th, 2016

While it’s not exactly a ‘tactical’ watch, the Traverse Alpha from Suunto is right at home in the outdoors.

I prefer navigation watches that use both GPS/GLONASS and this one does. Other features include moon phase calendar, gunshot detection, sunrise alert, weather trend, and red backlight for nighttime use.

That gunshot detection feature is cool for the hunter. When a shot is detected by the Treverse Alpha is drops a pin on your route. When used in conjunction with movescount you can visualize your hunt on a topographic map. By recording the position of other events on your hunt and linking pictures and videos, you can produce a short movie of your hunt that you can share with others.

Tested to MIL STD 819G*, the Traverse Alpha features a knurled stainless steel bezel, water repellent nylon strap and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass. Vibration alerts and a customizable, night vision goggle compatible red backlight help you stay unnoticed.

Available in Foliage and Stealth color variants.

Propper Now Shipping Revolutionary New Armor

Sunday, May 8th, 2016

1

St. Charles, MO – First announced at SHOT Show 2016, Propper is now shipping its new 4PV Concealable Vest. The 4PV (Four Panel Vest) is the latest innovation in armored protection. Four independent panels articulate to provide unparalleled mobility and protection. This easy to size platform provides a fully modular, highly adaptable and comfortable system that users want to wear.

Ill-fitting armor can be a hazard, as it forces the user to adjust shooting position and can make pursuing a suspect and other tactical situations awkward and dangerously different from training. Throw on uncomfortable, bulky armor and changes to shooting position and other tactics have to happen on the when training needs to kick in automatically. That’s why the 4PV line of armor features custom adjustable four-panel construction that offers superior protection and comfort not found in the typical two-panel vest.

“The four-panel ‘chassis’ design virtually eliminates the ride up effect when officers are seated and creates better mobility while performing their critical missions,” explained Skip Church, Vice President Armored Products. “Protection is paramount, and this design offers increased side area coverage, eliminating gaps.”

Most days on the job aren’t spent only sitting or standing. And a whole host of other duty-related maneuvers, such as climbing fences, giving chase or squatting down to help someone in need of aid. A vest should move with the user and not get in the way. Not only is ill-fitting armor uncomfortable, it can also expose vulnerabilities as the protective panels are no longer lined up correctly. So each 4PV armor system is designed to be fully adjustable for comfort and proper fit, providing the maximum protection no matter the user’s size or activity.

That’s why there is 4PV armor to fit any need:

  • 4PV: Concealed and comfortable
  • 4PV-FEM: Fit to the female form
  • 4PV-TAC: Tactical and tough
  • 4PV-U: Professional and protected
  • All 4PV styles can accommodate a wide range of NIJ-rated ballistic protection to fit the job if called upon.

“The 4PV is a leap forward in officer protection,” according to Church. “It was created to eliminate issues that have plagued the outdated two-panel design for years.”

From concealable armor for everyday uniform wear to outside armor to fit a departmental look or tactical protection for high-risk operations, the 4PV line has everything needed to maximize comfort and protection.
