High Gear M4 Padding Kit ADS

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

London Bridge has just unveiled a new addition to their popular High Gear line. The M4 Padding Kit was designed for the Special Operations Combatives Program and provides padding to the barrel (including front sight triangle) and forearm which can have sharp edges if it is a modular rail as well as the stock and magazine. That’s right, you can train with your magazine inserted into the magwell so that training replicates real life scenarios.

It is cost prohibitive for military units or other agencies to procure the number of specialty inert weapons to accommodate large-scale combatives training. This new padding set allows you to use your issue weapons without fear of injury to the trainee or damage to the weapon. It makes an excellent addition to already in-service Modern Army Combative Kits (MACK) as well as a supplement to other systems.

EmFX Pouches from NEMO Equipment Now Available ADS

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

The EmFX Pouches from NEMO Equipment that we wrote about back in July are finally available both for unit orders through ADS and individual purchase with Tactical Distributors. Essentially, the pouch creates a mini Faraday Cage blocking all incoming and outgoing Radio Frequency signals. This means, you can’t pocket dial someone and no one can remotely query the data stored on your cell phone. Unfortunately, bad guys can query this data, so as you stroll along on business or vacation, criminals (or worse) can collect your info, all without your knowledge. The only way to protect this data is to store it in a safe place. If you are someone who travels frequently overseas this pouch is a good investment.

Interestingly, in Chapter 4 of William Gibson‘s new book, “Zero History” the story mentions a Faraday Cage pouch for passports and what nastiness can happen to unsuspecting passport holders. In case you didn’t realize it, new passports include a Radio Frequency ID tag that contains information on you and allows customs to more quickly process you. NEMO Equipment is currently working on just such a model for passports.

Countdown to End of the Fiscal Year

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

ADS has included a countdown clock for the impending end of the fiscal year. This is a great reminder to get your ducks in order and figure out what you want to obligate your end of year funds for. Don’t waste it all on 10,000 rolls of toilet paper, or 500 paddle locks because that is all they have left at SSSC. Many vendors are open late and will help make sure you get what you need instead of what is left on the shelf.

In fact, Tactical Tailor will have staff on hand to fill phone orders until Midnight on 30 September. Don’t think that they are only accepting military orders either. Federal agencies as well as state and local folks finish the year on the 30th. Individuals are welcome to order as well. Just call them at (253) 984-7854.

Last but not least, if you are in the market for quality MultiCam (or Coyote and OD for that matter) clothing systems as well as shelters and poncho liners then make sure you contact our friends at Wild Things. They are open late this week to accommodate your last minute shopping requirements.

ADS Supports Soldiers to the Summit ADS

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

ADS Inc has donated C.L.S. Protective Combat Uniforms (PCU) by Beyond Tactical for use on the ascent of Lobuche East in the Himalayas. The climb by 12 wounded warriors is being put on by soldierstothesummit.org. ADS will have additional updates as the climb progresses from October 2 – October 21, 2010.

“ADS is committed to supporting our wounded warriors in all facets of their rehabilitation and we also pride ourselves on our expertise in cold weather clothing systems.” said Luke Hillier, ADS CEO. “Nothing could be more fitting than combining our passion for supporting our wounded warriors and our expertise in technical clothing systems to support these brave men and women on their road to recovery.”

Additionally, ADS is individually sponsoring Cody Miranda, one of the combat veteran climbers. Medically retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, Cody suffers from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He spent 18 years in the Marine Corps on seven deployments including Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom.

Camelbak Big Jump Pack Now Airborne Certified

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Camelbak developed the Big Jump to satisfy a requirement out of the 82nd Airborne Division for an assault pack with integrated air items. After extensive testing it has been air drop certified by the Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate at Ft Bragg, NC. The pack is feature laden as you can see below, but a couple of items stick out. The back panel’s padding channels have been specially designed to allow the harness to be stowed out of the way during jumps. Additionally, a single-point release has been integrated into the bottom of the pack.
