Russians Inspect Soldato Futuro

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Sergei Vlasov said on Monday, “A military delegation, headed by Deputy Commander of the Russian Ground Forces Lt. Gen. Nikolai Bogdanovsky, is on a three-day working visit to Italy to exchange experience in the development of combat gear.”

According to RIA Novosti, Russian officials are going to inspect versions of the Italian Forza NEC system in both field and static display conditions. The system is manufactured by a consortium of five companies led by Selex Communications and includes a Larimart computer using a standard 4-inch touch-screen for command and control, GPS and GIS. Additionally, there is a protection component with body armor featuring stab protection and protection against 9-mm rounds as well as a helmet with two visor options; bullet-proof and frag protective. Also included are laser protective goggles. Finally, the clothing component is FR and offers CBRNE options. However, it is not expected that the Russian delegation will expect much interest in the Italian ARX-160 rifle.

Once again, this is very much a NATO ‘Starship Troopers” program and not the first time that the Russian military has expressed interest in NATO Soldier Modernization Programs. Just a year ago, they expressed interest in purchasing copies of the French FELIN system. Their goal is to launch a domestic Russian program in the near future.

The AF2011-A1 is available in mirror finish Deep Blue (aka pimp) or with a 3400 Vickers surface hardness White Ash Nitrite coating.

SPECOPS.PL Reveals New Uniform

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

SPECOPS.PL shared some photos of their new MBS-2 uniform with us. Currently manufactured for Polish SF troops in Afghanistan, it features a stronger construction and modified cargo pockets with special mounting for the wz.93 assault knife, issued to most Polish soldiers. Additionally, the field dressing pouch has been moved forward, and the calf zippers are simplified. According to SPECOPS.PL, the uniform is made from NYCO in MULTICAM, PENCOTT, OLIVE, BLACK and KHAKI.

They also included their ZMKT-2 integrated Quick Release vest. It features two soft ballistic inserts, standard is BALCS, but since in Poland there is no one set soft-armor shape, they can modify the vest to suit the customer’s soft armor inserts. The ZMKT-2 vest can carry two large SAPI front-back plates as well as two side SAPI plates.

The DC (Dynamic Combat) Chestrig
As integral component of the Dynamic Combat Concepts (D.C.C.) the D.C. Chestrig also functions as well as a modular platform for the combined carrying method with the STRATAGEM LVAC Hybrid, MRAV Hybrid and other modular Vests.

The DC Chestrig features ultra-slim construction and a large zipper compartment grants access to the inner portion of the Chestrig for additional equipment storage or to function as a storage for the Shoulder and Hip Straps while worn in combination with the LVAC or the MRAV Hybrid.

LVAC (Low Visible Armor Carrier) Hybrid
Designed for Less Weight and More Performance, it combines rigid, conventional and lightweight materials to create an incredibly lightweight product that is still sturdy enough to handle whatever gets thrown at it. The “Hybrid” part of the name refers to the combination of conventional and lightweight materials. Additionally, as part of the Dynamic Combat Concepts the LVAC can easily adapt to become a complete ballistic system. The internal plate pockets will hold ballistic plates up to size L (11″x13″).
