Brownells Invites Americans to Celebrate Second Annual 2A Day, 2-22-23

Monday, February 13th, 2023

GRINNELL, Iowa (February 13, 2023) — Brownells invites freedom loving people all across the United States to celebrate, advocate and join in the rights and liberties guaranteed under the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights during the second annual 2A Day on 2-22-23

Smith & Wesson is the co-presenting sponsor for 2A Day 2023. Other sponsors include CCI, Federal, Fiocchi, Henry Repeating Arms, SIG Sauer, Remington and Winchester.

2A Day offers three ways for participants to engage with their uniquely American Second Amendment rights.

CELEBRATE

Brownells is partnering with ranges –both in Iowa and across the country – to host 2A Day range sessions, with free range time and limited free ammo for celebrants.

To find a participating range nearby, visit the Brownells 2A Day web page. Those interested should contact the range of their choice to ensure they have a time and lane in which to shoot.

Brownells encourages 2A Day supporters unable to attend a participating range to shoot at a range near them, or to work on building a gun at home. All are encouraged to post photos and short videos of their own 2A Day celebrations on social media with the hashtag #2ADay.

Brownells employees will have a chance to shoot on 2A Day at the Iowa range location.

ADVOCATE

Brownells encourages all gun owners to advocate for the 2nd Amendment by contacting their state and federal lawmakers and urging them to support gun rights. The Brownells 2A Day web page will include links showing how to find and contact legislators, and how to communicate effectively with them.

JOIN

On 2A Day, Brownells encourages Second Amendment supporters to join both a national and a state-level organization promoting gun rights.

The 2A Day page will link to both the Second Amendment Foundation and Gun Owners of America as national organizations.

For state-level organizations, the 2A Day page will link directly to the Iowa Firearms Coalition, and also offer a clickable map of the United States with a link to an organization in each state.

In the spirit of joining, Brownells will donate $22,222 to the Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America and the Iowa Firearms Coalition.

Raven Concealment Systems Announces New OWB Holster For Glock 43X and Glock 48 MOS with Streamlight TLR-7 Sub

Monday, February 13th, 2023

This new holster is an extension of the Perun line of outside the waistband holster or “OWB” holsters from Raven Concealment. The Perun family of holsters has been adopted as the official, agency-wide issued holster for multiple Federal law enforcement agencies.

The Perun LC is designed to be the best light-compatible, modular “pancake” style outside the waistband holster on the market. This latest offering accommodates the slim-line Glock 9mm pistols (Glock 43X and Glock 48 MOS) equipped with the extremely popular Streamlight TLR 7 Sub weapon light.

The Perun is ambidextrous, has adjustable retention, and accommodates slide-mounted red-dot sights. Like all RCS products, the Perun is made from US-made polymers and colorants, in US-made tooling, by US citizens.

The body-hugging curvature of this holster is accomplished using modular belt loops. Each holster includes three pairs of 1.5″ belt loops. These belt loops allow the end-user to configure the holster according to their needs. For example, you can configure for ambidextrous holster body for left-handed or right-handed use, with either a 0-degree or 10-degree cant.

Retention in the Perun is crisp, defined, and consistent, thanks to the innovative design features inside the holster’s body. The Perun is unlike other OWB holster that use the traditional “screw through a rubber grommet” styles of retention. The Perun’s retention will not back off after repeated draw strokes and re-holstering.

As previously mentioned, the Perun is compatible with most slide mounted red dot sights & optics like the Aimpoint T-1, Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, etc. The holster also accommodates front suppressor height sights up to .350″ tall.

If you’re interested in learning more about our new addition to the Perun LC family, head to our store, RCSGear.com/ or shop for a Glock 43x & Glock 48 MOS Perun LC here.

The Perun LC G43X & 48 MOS + TLR-7 is available at retail price of $59.99.

Villain Weapon Systems ATPIAL-C EFL – Enhanced Illuminator Performance Available and In-Stock Now Exclusively from TNVC

Monday, February 13th, 2023

Redlands, California, February 12, 2023—TNVC is proud to announce our new partnership and collaboration with Villain Weapon Systems (VWS) beginning with Exclusive Distribution of the VWS ATPIAL-C External Focusing Lens (EFL), with several new projects in the works!

tnvc.com/shop/villain-weapon-systems-atpial-c-external-focusing-lens-efl

Initially introduced by TNVC in 2014, the L3Harris / Insight ATPIAL-C, the Class I / 3R “civilian legal” variant of the DoD-issued AN/PEQ-15 was the first directly “commercialized” variant of an issued, MIL-SPEC laser system available on the market and still remains one of the most popular options for commercial NIR Multi-Function Aiming Lasers (MFALs).

While newer commercial lasers have been released in the decade since the ATPIAL-C was developed, the L3Harris ATPIAL remains one of the most widely used, combat proven, and reliable MFALs in existence, with many users appreciating the familiarity of the ATPIAL-C to their issued AN/PEQ-15 systems, something that cannot be understated in a device intended to be used primarily in the dark, by feel only, where it is critical that you are able to get the device to do what you want when you want it, without having to fiddle with controls or guess at what setting the device is switched to.

DoD Image

Nevertheless, due to the requirements of making the standard power Class IIIB (45mW) into a Class I / 3R variant that could be sold and purchased by non-government customers openly and without restrictions or shady back-door deals, and while it can be effective in many environments and conditions, the “as-issued” the ATPIAL-C has reduced NIR illuminator performance and functionality compared to its Class IIIB counterpart.

Developed and released by Villain Weapon Systems in 2022, the ATPIAL-C External Focusing Lens (EFL) greatly improves the performance, functionality, and effectiveness of the ATPIAL-C at an affordable price ($129.00 retail), opening up the operating envelope of the ATPIAL-C, making it more than capable of handling most carbine applications within the effective PID range of head-mounted, unity night vision systems without permanent or warranty/serviceability voiding modifications, and without significantly altering the manual of arms and ergonomics that is one of the reasons for the ATPIAL-C’s continued popularity.

The VWS ATPIAL-C EFL is a ruggedized housing and lens system that allows the user to focus their fixed ATPIAL-C illuminator. Focusing your illuminator creates a useful, intense light source for long range engagements. Once installed (requires removal of the factory diffuser cover), simply flip the focusing lens in front of the aperture of the illuminator and increase the intensity of the laser illuminator an approximate 3-6x. The premium focusing lenses chosen for this task have Near-Infrared Anti-Reflective coatings to ensure maximum light transmission (~90%). These specialty coatings applied to the lens also ensure little to no laser light gets back-reflected into laser cavity.

The VWS ATPIAL-C EFL comes in two variants, with Mid-Range (MR) and Long-Range (LR) focusing lens options:

Mid-Range: Focuses your illuminator approximately 3x. Your 6°/105mrad illuminator will be focused to an approximate 2°/35mrad beam.

This lens is great for Mid Range engagements or higher light environments.

Long-Range: Focuses your illuminator approximately 6x. Your 6°/105mrad illuminator will be focused to an approximate 1°/17mrad beam. This lens is great in conjunction with magnifiers/scopes for illumination out to longer ranges. (Not recommended for targets inside of 50 meters)

While the EFL does remove the “close-range” soft, diffused illuminator cover, the already wide beam divergence and diffused output of the Class I ATPIAL-C provides suitable illumination for most close-range applications, and is still accessible on the EFL by flipping the EFL lens/cover out of the way — snap the cover on for mid-to-long ranges, flip the cover off for closer-in use.

“The EFL is a fantastic upgrade to the ATPIAL-C, and I’m extremely pleased that we have been able to partner with Brandon [Olson – Owner/Founder of VWS] and Villain Weapon Systems, not only do we have some interesting new products in the works, but our partnership and distribution agreement will allow the EFL to be produced in much larger numbers than previously and therefore become much more widely available. We really enjoy collaborations like this, and working with small, innovative, and nimble companies that are creating great new products,” says Augee Kim, COO of Tactical Night Vision Company.

“The EFL is a relatively low cost upgrade [$129 Retail] that not only greatly increases the capabilities and effectiveness of the thousands of ATPIAL-Cs that are already out in the field being used, but with a total package price of under $1,900 makes the ATPIAL-C with the EFL a strong contender, even in 2023, offering effective performance at lower cost and/or without the accompanying bulk and ergonomic issues of some other options, the more options the better.”

PacStar Radio Chassis Deploy Wide Range of Radio Types to Eliminate Communications Gaps in Military and Civil Operations

Saturday, February 11th, 2023

Tactical, mobile PacStar Radio Chassis speed and simplify the bridging of analog radio and IP communications at the edge of the battlefield

ASHBURN, Va. – February 7, 2023 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division, a leading developer and supplier of advanced Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), has expanded its support for deployed DoD, civilian, and coalition partner radio systems with a rugged chassis family designed to speed and simplify the integration and deployment of heterogeneous radio types. Available in three- and four-radio configurations, the new PacStar Radio Chassis are COTS-based, modular, tactical and expeditionary, rugged radio, voice, and IP integrated solutions. The chassis use radio brackets, (available off the shelf or custom designed if required), to support a wide array of radio integration use cases, including legacy Radio Over Internet Protocol (RoIP) integration, mobile ad hoc network (MANET) integration, and tactical data link interoperability. PacStar Radio Chassis can be used in conjunction with the PacStar 463 RoIP module to cross-band radios to eliminate communications gaps caused by the use of disparate radio systems in military and homeland defense operations.

“A common hurdle, whether in the battlefield or during first responder civil operations, is the communications gap that results from the use of multiple different radio types in the field,” said Chris Wiltsey, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions division. “Our new PacStar Radio Chassis expands the existing PacStar Modular Radio Center to solve that problem by easing and speeding the deployment of disparate radio types in a compact, rugged common enclosure, with support for the most popular DoD and civilian radios. Whether a public emergency where police, fire, and other services need to talk with each other, or at the tactical edge where our warfighters need to communicate with coalition forces, radio interoperability helps to ensure mission success.”

The new PacStar Radio Chassis share the same external dimensions as Curtiss-Wright’s popular PacStar 400-Series Smart Chassis and can populate one half of a PacStar Standardized A-Kit/Vehicle Envelope (SAVE)-compatible enclosure or any of the other PacStar 400-Series mounting and transport solutions for person-carry, vehicle mount, or tactical semi-fixed applications. The chassis can be used standalone or to extend the capabilities of a PacStar Modular Radio Center (MRC) system, leveraging the PacStar MRC’s PacStar 463 RoIP/Voice module to translate disparate radio types and provide voice gateway services to tactical IP networks.

Curtiss-Wright has established partnerships with leading suppliers to further extend the capability of its deployed radio solutions. For example, a PacStar Radio Chassis can leverage a PacStar 463 running SCI TOCNET inside of the PacStar MRC or can pair with a PacStar 451 server running REDCOM Sigma, or Motorola WAVE. Applications include analog-to-RoIP use cases such as voice convergence, network extension, and radio cross-banding. The PacStar Radio Chassis can also integrate MANET radios, for inter-team and WAN access, into tactical IP networks. The chassis can also support the translation of multiple tactical data link (TDL) formats between ground/air/sea assets.
