Quantico Tactical Showcases ATAK Enabled Gear from Safran Optics 1

Aberdeen, North Carolina – July 9, 2020– Quantico Tactical®, the largest North Carolina based federal contractor, is proud to showcase ATAK enabled devices for the dismounted soldier.

Quantico Tactical® has been a longstanding partner with Safran Optics 1. Together these two companies are teaming to offer the latest in Android Tactical Assault Kit, ATAK, enabled devices. ATAK is an app-based technology that identifies and views teammates, targets, and route points. Operators can also see points of interest, such as terrain, topographical elements, and even weather.

The Optics 1 Enhanced Clip-On Thermal Imager, ECOTI, provides unmatched detection capability and situational awareness by adding a long wave infrared thermal overlay on the user’s night vision device, NVD. The ECOTI is a low power consuming thermal sensor that mounts to existing NVD’s. The ECOTI has a Heads Up Display, HUD, that provides real-time, geo-referenced navigation information. When combined with an Android device, the NVD becomes a remote display for identifying teammates, targets, and route points.

The Optics 1 Enhanced Clip-On SWIR Imager, ECOSI, is bears the same physical design as the ECOTI, yet provides short-wave infrared, SWIR overlay on to the user’s NVD. It helps see out-of-band short-wave infrared items like strobes, markers, beacons, and other devices. The ECOSI also integrates augmented reality through the use of ATAK.

“ATAK is a game-changer for properly relaying information,” said Rett Vandenberg, C4ISR Category Manager for Quantico Tactical. “Having the right devices that connect via ATAK can dramatically change the battlefield.”

The Pocket Laser Rangefinder, PLRF25C, is a reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting device, also by Optics 1 that provides accurate distance and angle measurement. The PLRF25C is a small, lightweight, and ruggedized laser rangefinder that connects via Bluetooth® to wirelessly transmit distance, azimuth, inclination, horizontal distance and vertical distance to a target. The ATAK unit will automatically populate the target location information on the ATAK map.

AeroVironment Receives $21 Million Initial Contract Option for Raven Radio Frequency Modifications Under Previously Awarded US Army Contract with Potential $55 Million Total Value

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., July 8, 2020 – AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV), a global leader in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), today announced the United States Army exercised the first of three options under the sole source Flight Control Systems (FCS) domain of the Army’s multi-year small UAS contract on April 28, 2020. The value of the initial contract option is $21,058,643 and includes avionics and data link upgrade packages to modify radio frequencies employed by the Army’s existing fleet of Raven® tactical UAS, the largest fleet of Raven systems in the world. Delivery will take place over a two-year period.

The Army exercised the option under the FCS domain awarded to AeroVironment by the Army in June 2019. FCS is one of six domains comprising the Army’s existing five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) SUAS contract, and has a potential value of up to $55 million.

Freedom Hill Gear Announces ShiftAR Shift Pegs for Harley Davidson Motorcycles

Gilsum NH – Freedom Hill Gear, a veteran-owned company, is proud to announce the official release of their new ShiftAR® shift pegs for Harley Davidson® motorcycles. The ShiftAR® is a crossover product which replaces the standard shifter pegs with an actual A2 flash hider commonly used on M16, M4, and AR15-type rifles. The patent-pending ShiftAR® uses a custom adapter to thread the flash hider into the Harley shifter, and will accept any other ½ x 28-thread muzzle device for added customization.

Freedom Hill Gear owner Robin Oke explained the inspiration for the ShiftAR®, “A few years back I broke a peg on my Harley – it wasn’t the first time but I wanted it to be the last. While I was working in my garage, I noticed a few old takeoff AR-15 Birdcages laying on the workbench and decided to make those my new pegs. Oke chose the A2 as a matter of practicality as the closed-bottom of the flash hider puts less wear on the rider’s boot. The use of an original mil-std crush washer allows the rugged flash hider to be properly positioned. “It’s had a tremendous appeal to veterans who want to add a memento of their service to their ride, as well as with supporters of the Second Amendment”, Oke concluded.

Blackhawk Introduces New T-Series Jacket Slot Leg Strap Adapter

New Adapter Attaches to T-Series Jacket Slot Holster Platform Providing Greater Flexibility for Movement

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia – July 9, 2020 – Blackhawk, a leader in law enforcement and military equipment for over 20 years, announced today that it has introduced a new T-Series Jacket Slot Leg Strap Adapter for use with the T-Series holster, allowing users greater flexibility while on the move. The new adapter bolts into the bottom of the T-Series Jacket Slot Belt Loop Holster Platform and serves as the pivot point for the T-Series holster, allowing it to stay upright and secure regardless of your leg position.

The new adapter enhances the Jacket Slot Belt Loop Holster Platform by adding the extra security of a single, high ride leg strap and eases movement with a swivel connected pivot point. Unlike a standard drop leg holster, the T-Series adapter enables the holster to remain in the upright position for an optimal draw stroke while also allowing users to extend their leg up or drop to a knee without having to worry about the holster remaining vertical.
