Tru-Spec’s Concealed Armor Shirt is constructed from TRU-DRI™ moisture wicking 85% polyester/15% spandex compression fabric. The top-loading pockets on the front and back are bordered by polyester mesh and 2mm of foam and have reinforced corners to prevent plate shifting.

Seattle Police Deter Illegal Laser Use By Employing BE Meyers & Co GLARE HELIOS Device

An interesting photo (there’s a video as well) showed up recently on Reddit causing us to do a little digging.

Around the country, we are seeing demonstrations against police brutality turn violent and even deadly. One tactic used by rioters is to laze law enforcement officers and even their horses with commercial off the shelf laser pointers which may injure the eye or cause blindness for the recipient of the laser energy.

Seattle PD has used the MAWL device as an aiming laser for several years and knew that nearby BE Meyers & Co had developed an eye-safe laser dazzler.

According to BE Meyers & Co, after confrontation with threat lasers, SPD reached out to to borrow a GLARE HELIOS (Class 1M, as opposed to the Class 2M GLARE RECOIL, both of which are FDA approved). Both systems are non-kinetic, less than lethal options for deterrence. Additionally, they are the only two systems in the US approved for use as hail and warning devices by LE.

For those of you unfamiliar with the system, it features their patented SmartRange™ laser range finding technology, and near-field detection to immediately identify range-to-target, and automatically outputs a visible green laser at maximum eye-safe power. Its powerful green beam provides visual escalation of force/hail and warning capabilities from 3 meters to beyond 16 kilometers, safely alerting targets and assisting end-users in determining intent.

Quite simply, the GLARE HELIOS worked. Not only did it distract the laser attackers from focusing their beams on the line officers and instead focus on the SPD Officer using he system, it diverted the attention of the crowd. Every individual that was targeted with the GLARE HELIOS either left the area immediately after being engaged, became ineffective, or was detained by detectives on their way out after being identified.

800th RED HORSE Group Activated Under Ninth Air Force

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AFNS) — The 800th RED HORSE Group activated June 1 during a ceremony at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. RED HORSE stands for Rapid Engineer Deployable, Heavy Operational Repair Squadron, Engineer.

The 819th RHS located at Malmstrom AFB, Montana; 820th RHS located at Nellis AFB; and 823rd RHS located at Hurlburt Field, Florida, comprise the new group nested under Ninth Air Force.

“The consolidation of the three contiguous U.S. active duty RED HORSE squadrons under a single group is in-line with the Air Force Chief of Staff’s priority to cost effectively modernize the lethality of the force,” said Maj. Gen. Chad Franks, Ninth AF commander. “This group will train and equip the Air Force’s primary heavy contingency construction capability presented to combatant commanders.”

Col. JJ Loschinskey, 819th RHS commander; Col. Peter Feng, 820th RHS commander; and Col. Andy DeRosa, 823rd RHS commander, played a key role in the creation of the RHG that contains three of the four active-duty RED HORSE squadrons.

“We are ecstatic to move to a squadron/group construct that supports Ninth (Air Force),” Feng said, who also became the 800th RHG commander. “This organizational change will ensure we can meet future National Defense Strategy requirements. We built on previous discussions from past RED HORSE commanders who recommended a structure that corrals the three squadrons under a command structure subordinate to one Numbered Air Force. The three commanders … advocated to their NAF commanders that creating this structure was vital to the success of the organization to support future warfighter construction requirements.”

While the 819th RHS and 823rd RHS were previously under the Ninth Air Force, the 820th RHS fell under 12th Air Force. As a group, the RHG will continue to provide multi-capable Airmen both in garrison and deployed.

“Multi-capable Airmen is what we build at RED HORSE,” Feng stated. “In garrison, the critical thing we have developed in our people, is the ability to think through big problems and solve them in any way possible. Then, while deployed, our multi-capable Airmen can perform tasks across many different AFSCs to accomplish the goals set forth in front of us.”

This is not the first RHG that has been established in the Air force, but it’s the first not in response to a conflict. The last time an RHG was stood up was in 2002 when the 1st Expeditionary RHG in Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, was created to manage construction requirements for RED HORSE units in the theater and became the 1st Expeditionary Civil Engineer Group that exists today.

Closer links between trade fairs in the security segment in future

NürnbergMesse plans to establish closer links between its “unmanned technologies” segment and other trade fairs as of 2021. Instead of being exclusive to Enforce Tac, as it has been until now, U.T.SEC will in future also be able to present itself as a corresponding platform at other relevant events. This will give the highly topical drone technology segment a greater reach.

Since 2018, U.T.SEC has been taking place concurrently with Enforce Tac. Increasingly, its focus has been on the use and neutralisation of drones by official security agencies and organisations.

Drone technology becoming a megatrend

In recent years, drone technology has become an important cutting-edge issue not just for users in the sensitive security segment but also for other target groups. This is why the event is evolving, as it moves away from its origins as a summit to become an integral part of Enforce Tac. In future, it will also showcase the diverse applications for drone technology to a greater extent at other NürnbergMesse Group events, for example at Perimeter Protection, the trade fair for the monitoring and protection of industrial and commercial outdoor sites and facilities, critical infrastructure and major events.

This will allow manufacturers to reach a larger and more diverse range of target groups and offer them more opportunities to present their technologies. In the process we will also be offering potential users more targeted insights into the uses of unmanned technologies.

US Patriot Stands By Employees During COVID-19 Pandemic

Many of you are familiar with US Patriot. They have over 70 stores across the US and close to 350 employees. They may well be the largest military retailer in the world.

Like any other company that performs retail services, the COVID-19 crisis has been tough on business and employee alike.

Fortunately, US Patriot has been able to stand by their employees during this tough time and is paying out $250,000 in total to their loyal employees as a retention bonus. Deemed an essential business, their team members stuck by their side so that the company could continue to service customers in the military and public safety community. This bonus is based on years of service with some getting close to $4K apiece.
