Who:
Black Triangle Black Triangle provides average citizens and security professionals with low-visibility personal protection assets while traveling domestically and abroad in semi or non-permissive environments. Black Triangle’s core leadership is headed by a Veteran of the Global War on Terror. His experience gained in Iraq and Afghanistan translated to working as a private citizen providing Executive Protection for foreign dignitaries, high net-worth individuals and their families. The protective experience gained in domestic and international environments lends to the creative development of the company. We recognize the capability gaps for average citizens whose security and safety are compromised while abroad. These gaps are addressed in simple, yet effective ways. Our products are currently in use in the continental United States, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Black Triangle seeks to achieve client-driven results for both the everyman and the professional.

What:
Our flagship product is a non-metallic defensive tool called the Midnight Creeper. The Creeper and all Black Triangle defensive tools are made from G10 (fiberglass composite material). The complete system is non-metallic, allowing the user to carry with confidence in environments where non-invasive security measures prohibit use of a firearm or steel knife. We also distribute a lock pick kit which is housed inside of a pen, giving the user the ability to covertly carry escape and evasion kit while traveling abroad or as EDC.

Where:
Black Triangle products are made in Norfolk, VA.

When:
We as a company have been in existence since 2015, but Black Triangle products became available in 2017.

Why:
Bottom line, the world can be a dangerous place. An individual cannot always carry a firearm or a steel knife. Low-visibility tools are becoming more and more practical for everyday carry. Freedom of movement while protecting oneself with low-signature tools is Black Triangle’s mainstay.

USSOCOM Replaces EOTech Sights With EOTech Sights

Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division, acting as the program office for special operations weapons procurement on behalf of United States Special Operations Command has announced a $23,637,320 contract to L-3 Communications EOTech for Close Quarters Battle Sights. We do not yet have verification of which model was selected.

As you may recall, in September, 2015, we broke the story of severe issues with EOTech Holographic Weapon Sights. Ultimately, many (but not all) units within USSOCOM withdrew the sights from service and the US Department of Justice charged L-3 Communications with fraud. L-3 settled for over $25 million. This led to a massive commercial refund program by EOTech, taking back virtually any EOTech sight identified by customers.

SOF units tested and fielded various interim replacements and USSOCOM undertook a formal program to identify a replacement as part of their Miniature Aiming System – Day suite of optics. This contract award is a result of that effort.

Internally, EOTech cleaned house, fixed their production issues, and introduced the VUDU line of telescopic sight. It’s a testament to the dedication of EOTech that they were able to turn themselves in three years and win the business back. I’m impressed.

USMC Announces Industry Day For Low Intensity Threat Environment (LITE) Armor Plate

Program Manager for Infantry Combat Equipment (PM ICE), Portfolio Manager Ground Combat Element Systems (PfM GCES), MCSC, has announced they will host an Industry Day for the upcoming LITE Plate solicitation 17-18 October 2018 at Get It Done (GID) Solutions LLC in Triangle, Virginia. It will include classified one-on-one sessions with the PM shop.

This is a follow up to the Industry RFI for lightweight armor plates issued last month.

The Low Intensity Threat Environment (LITE) Plate must be Berry Amendment compliant. It is a small arms protective hard armor insert that will improve the survivability and mobility of Marines by maximizing ballistic protection while minimizing the burdens of weight, bulk, and heat stress.

Interestingly, the NAICS code is 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing) for this requirement.

XTech Tactical® will not relent its inherent and obvious rights to sell what is known to the market as the MAG47™. The complaint filed against XTech Tactical® contains a baseless claim of trade dress which is clearly an attempt to intimidate a much smaller and younger business.

The all-new RailScales PEQ – LEAF® Fixed Iron Sight just arrived in-stock at Milspec Retail. The PEQ – LEAF® is a fixed adjustable front sight that attaches to picatinny rail systems. It was specifically designed to decrease the mounting footprint of the AN/PEQ15 ATPIAL series laser on the MK18 Mod 1/CQBR weapon system using the Daniel Defense® RIS II Rail (P/N:DD-8020, NSN: 1005-01-548-138). Currently, the issued Knight’s Armament Company® MK18 front sight (P/N:99051, NSN: 1005-01-473-1410) is used with an PEQ/ATPIAL series laser, which creates ergonomic and functional issues. In addition, 12 o’clock rail space for optimally mounting illumination/laser pressure pads is greatly diminished. Using the KAC MK18 front sight also creates IR splash from both the illuminator and the laser apertures which greatly increases the users IR signature. The PEQ – LEAF® eliminates both of these problems by mounting in front of and underneath the PEQ unit with almost no perceivable footprint.

Ellen Pucciarelli Appointed As VP Of Operational Medicine Consultants

Operational Medicine Consultants officially announced today the appointment of Ellen Pucciarelli to the role of vice president, effective 1 October 2018. Ms. Pucciarelli advances to this position after serving as the company’s operations manager since January, 2018.

Ellen joined OMC from Graham Combat Training Company of Stanwood, WA, where she filled a similar role from 2013 through the end of 2017. Prior to that, she spent a decade as a managing partner in a company that supplied equipment to martial arts studios across the eastern United States. Her experience in supporting the mission of U.S. government and military organizations goes back to the beginning of her professional career in 1996, when she began working for DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency).

“Ellen’s skillful management of the complex administrative and logistical requirements of our organization was a key factor in the significant growth we experienced over the last several months,” said Dr. Jason Welch, M.D., founder and president of OMC. “We are confident that, in her new role as vice president, she will bring the same focus and expertise to bear on meeting our company’s strategic goals that she did on our day-to- day operational needs.”
