Sneak Peek – Arc’teryx Procline Ski Alpinism Boots

December 8th, 2015

At Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in August I heard rumors of an upcoming Ski March Boot from the commercial side of Arc’teryx. The result is the new Procline unveiled this week in Vancouver to members of the ski press.

It may be of some interest to military customers simply due to the Bird’s reputation. The boot is intended for use not only skiing but also walking on rock and ice. For instance, the toe is designed specifically for use with crampons.  Additionally, you can “unlock” the cuff , allowing for walking.

Offered in European sizing in several models for both Men and Women:
Procline Carbon Lite – 1190 gr, size 27.5
Procline Carbon Support – 1260 gr, size 27.5 (Exact same shell, liner with more ski performance)
Procline Men’s Lite – 1190 gr, size 27.5 (Carbon infused cuff plastic, no carbonfiber cuff)
Procline Men’s Support – 1260 gr, size 27.5 (Infused cuff, liner with more ski performance)

Procline Women Lite – 1060 gr, size 25.5 (Carbon infused cuff plastic, no fiber, sizes from 23 to 27.5, exact same shell as “Men’s” with a liner shaped for differences in women’s leg shapes)
Procline Women Support – 1120 gr size 25.5 (Same as above with ski support liner)

Look for additional imformation during Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in just a few weeks.

Steve Fisher

Seymour, CT – December 8, 2015 – Kinetic Development Group (KDG), a premium accessories and weapons manufacturer, is proud to announce that Nathan Murr has joined its team as director of business development. Murr brings years of industry product knowledge and expertise to KDG as it looks to continue to grow and capitalize on the development of advanced products for the SCAR and other platforms in a market hungry for relevant, real-world innovation.

Murr will work to grow the KDG brand through the development and implementation of strategic sales and marketing efforts. He’ll also be heavily involved in product development, an area that drew him to KDG after the invention of his popular Grip Stop accessory and other products. Since the company’s inception late last year, Murr has consulted on multiple KDG product designs, including the new SIDELOK Optics Mounts and a soon-to-be-released ambidextrous SCAR charging handle.

“I feel fortunate for the opportunity to bring my passion for real, common sense innovation to a nimble company like Kinetic Development Group that’s already proven its worth in this industry in such a short period of time,” explained Murr. “There are big things to come at KDG and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

“We are very excited to have Nate join our team. He brings a unique set of skills and knowledge to KDG that meshes well with our vision, and where we are headed as a company. We couldn’t have asked for a better person for the job,” said AJ Lafferty, vice president and co-founder of KDG.

I have been friends with Nathan for several years and even though he was a Marine, he’s a great guy. I’m very happy to hear about this hire.

L3 Communications EOTech Issuing Refunds For Holographic Weapon Sights

December 8th, 2015

Last month, L-3 Communications was sued by the US Government in Federal Court for fraud regarding performance of their line of EOTech Holographic Weapon Sights. The same day, L-3 settled with the US Government for $25.6 Million. This suit comes on the heels of a USSOCOM Safety Of Use Message for the sights because of Point of Impact shifts in extreme temperatures as well as other performance issues.

Naturally, some consumers have decided to stop using their sights due to concerns raised in the SOUM and ensuing court case. Several EOTech Holographic Weapon Sight owners have contacted EOTEch and requested refunds. So far, EOTech has reportedly been very positive and honored all of the requests.

EOTech is reportedly refunding the purchase price plus $15 Shipping and Handling. If you are interested in returning your sight, we suggest you proceed to www.eotechinc.com/raform.

Once the request is approved, you should receive a message like the one below.

Since I have been asked, I own sights and will not be returning them.  Also, I’d like to thank Larry Vickers for alerting me to this.

The Mighty Pen Co

December 8th, 2015

The Mighty Pen Co offers several great Christmas gift ideas such as pens, keychains and shaving gear. These items are made right here in the USA by a combat veteran.

Take for instance this Black Ops MIGHTY PEN made from a 7.62 case. It features a Black Cerakote finish and Gun Metal fittings.

While I think the various pens are cool, my favorite product is the 50 BMG Razor / 20mm Badger Hair Shaving Brush set. It’s really beefy, incorporating both .50 and 20mm casings to form handles for the traditional razor and badger hair brush.  Even better, it’s currently on sale.

Jungle SNAFUs…And Remedies

December 8th, 2015

Friends often ask me what I use for historical reference. Well aside from a failing memory, I own a lot of books. With the recent interest in Jungle clothing and equipment, I highly recommend the book, “Jungle SNAFUs…And Remedies” by Cresson H Kearney Maj, USA (Ret).  It tells the story of WWII jungle warfare development.

The book has a website with sample chapters.
