The MSR Distribution Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the sourcing and procurement of firearms, shooting accessories, reloading equipment, archery gear, gun safes, ammunition, and other sporting goods products. The Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager is the category leader as it relates to product assortment, pricing, and stock levels. The Purchasing/Supply Chain Manager balances meeting the needs of our Sales Teams while achieving financial results that further the success of our company overall. This role operates with considerable independence and judgment when completing projects and procurement.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Drive sales growth through listening to our Sales leadership, industry peers, and other sources to meet customer demand
• Maintain high in-stock rates, healthy turn rates and strong margins within our company
• Maintain a high level of product knowledge
• Structure & maintain product data in a way that supports a solid understanding of what’s happening to key metrics within the business
• Build strong product assortments with suppliers, negotiating improved programs related to all aspects of our vendor partnerships
• Attend trade shows and network with industry peers to keep ahead of market trends
• Understand and embrace our distribution strategy to realize significant cost savings
• Partner with management to achieve planned sales, margin and inventory turn targets
• Partner with shipping to realize freight savings & efficiency
• Partner with marketing to help drive effective promotions that drive sales
• Partner with management to deploy effective product training
• Partner with operations to gather feedback and take appropriate action
• Partner with finance in maintaining an accurate and efficient billing process
• Partner with eCommerce to ensure proper product assets are in place to support online sales
• Utilize both writing and verbal skills to clearly communicate issues to all levels
• Other responsibilities as called upon
Supervisory Areas of Responsibility (if applicable):
• Ensure future Purchasing Assistant(s) are equipped with appropriate and necessary training resources to further develop a high performing team
• Develop and deploy an effective inventory management plan for their family of business
Skill Set Requirements:
• The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or equivalent is preferred
• Experience – a minimum of five years relatable experience and/or training
• A strong understanding of applicable terms and metrics including but not limited to: Sales, Margin, Sell Thru Percentage, Turn, Comp Analysis, Defective Rates, Fill Rates, Terms, Dating, etc
• A strong competency in Microsoft Office products, Excel, GP and SalesPad
• A strong competency in understanding and articulating the financial performance of the assigned category
• Candidates must reside within the Las Vegas, NV area or be willing to relocate
• Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator license
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
