Multi Mission Kits

Friday, September 16th, 2011

About eight years ago USAF Security Forces worked with Eagle Industries to develop the Defensor Fortis Load Carrying System (DF-LCS). This was the first time that a load carrying system had ever been developed specifically for the Air Force’s largest career field, its security troops. They took lessons learned from other MOLLE-based systems and adapted it to their mission and standard loads. Initially adopted in OD Green since Woodland camo was the standard, the USAF has transitioned to their new Digital Tigerstripe Pattern. Consequently, the AF has switched to DF-LCS in Digital Tiger.

After the ADS garage sale, our friends at Tactical Distributors went in and worked with Tactical Fanboy to identify the best equipment left. Turns out there were a bunch of the Multi Mission Kit components of DF-LCS available. Manufactured by Eagle Industries, the Multi Mission Kit includes the Multi Mission Pack, a three day design with ample storage space, 2 ea vertical sustainment pouches and 2 ea horizontal utility pouches. These pouches are designed to expand the capacity of the MMP and further organize loads.

The MMP itself features internal organization pouches, two antenna / hydration ports, 2 external side compartments, External PALS webbing on pack waist belt, sides, bottom, and front, and a top drag handle. These are Made in USA, genuine Eagle Industries kits.

Paradigm SRP TALON Universal Weapons Mount

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Paradigm SRP provides services from Executive Protection to Foreign Internal Defense risk mitigation and consultations. And now, they’ve added some pretty high tech technology development to their portfolio.

You may have seen the first version of their TALON Universal Weapons Mount on the Discovery Channel series, “Sons of Guns.” The version you saw on the show utilized mechanical gyros, while this new version uses state-of-the-art fiber optic gyros.

Adaptable to many platforms including rotary wing aircraft, vehicles, and maritime systems, the TALON Universal Weapons Mount will accommodate a wide variety of weapons starting with the M4 type carbine for more stable shots to larger and more accurate systems for precision shots such as the .50 (rifle). Additionally, the TALON will mount belt fed systems such as a 7.62 Light Machine Gun (LMG). Furthermore, Paradigm SRP is working on compatibility with the Mk 19 40mm Automatic Grenade Launcher. It is a simple and stable mounting design that does not require permanent alteration for installation but rather uses existing cargo hard points along with common tie-down straps.

Pinpoint precision is now achievable from aerial platforms (ground and maritime as well) due to the TALON’s design. A quick mount system allows the weapon to be attached to the TALON. Stabilization is achieved by incorporating mil-spec fiber optic gyros, high speed servos, and advanced circuitry into a precision machined two axis yoke. Stabilization correction solutions are made at a rate of over one thousand times per second. This is much faster than mechanical gyros.

If you want to know more, make you see the TALON Gun Mount in booth #811 at the National Tactical Officers Association’s 28th Annual Conference 18 and 19 September in Richmond, Virginia.

Inforce WML

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Several months ago I started speaking with Inforce about a new LED weapon light concept unlike anything I’d ever seen. Featuring an integrated MIL STD 1913 rail compatible clamp/locking system, the WML also incorporates an ergonomic push button activation switch right into the body of the light. As you can see from this graphic, the WML is adaptable enough to accommodate many shooting styles. This light was designed from the ground up for use with a rail equipped carbine. No extra mounts, No remote switches or cables, No extra lenses.

Powered by a single CR123, the PWL relies on White and IR LEDs. The primary light is White and features selectable Constant and Momentary High, Low and Strobe modes. Additionally, you can configure the PWL to offer either High/Low or Low/High modes. Additionally, there is a Strobe Disable. The secondary light is IR with Constant High and Low modes as well as a Momentary High mode. Additionally, there are two lockout systems to avoid accidental light discharge. First is a safety bail that prevents pushing the activation switch. Second, the head can be rotated to disengage power.

The WML is waterproof to 66 feet and available in Black and Desert Sand.

18XRAY Combat/Rescue Knife

Friday, September 16th, 2011

We recently found out that is a third variant of the popular 18XRAY automatic knife. The Combat/Rescue Knife was designed specifically for medics as well as first responders. Notice the 3-5/8” blade’s blunt tip combined with ultra-fine serrated teeth. The blade is manufactured from 154CM steel with DLC finish paired with T6-6061 aircraft grade aluminum handles that are Type 3 hard coat anodized in Red for high visibility. Once again, it features the limited forever warranty. Finally, like the entire line of 18XRAYs, the Combat/Rescue Knife features Darrel Ralph’s SAS (Slide Auto Safety) system.

Friday, September 16th, 2011

We’ve mentioned the Italian future soldier system, Forza NEC (Network Enabled Capability) before on SSD. Aero Sekur S.p.A is in charge of the clothing portion of the system and they have included a poncho that includes signature management properties.

The poncho features multispectral characteristics including visual, Near IR and Thermal. Aero Sekur claims that the thermal suppression maintains the measurable exterior temperature of the poncho of no more than 4°C above air ambient temperature. Additionally, a white winter variant includes UV properties.

MSA Finds Buyer for Paraclete

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Pittsburgh Business Times reports that Mine Safety Appliances has identified a buyer for their Paraclete business unit.

There are a couple of rumors as to who has offered to purchase the company but none have been as of yet substantiated. It will be interesting to see who is buying them and what plans they have for the brand that was at the forefront of releasable armor systems.

BTW, nice pic TR.

Source Hydration Vehicle Hydration System ADS Tactical

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Source Hydration has introduced the Vehicle Hydration System which allows individuals to hydrate while enroute to the objective without draining their own reservoirs. These days many units are utilizing armored and mine protected vehicles and this looks like a great enhancement.

Consisting of a 25l Aquasource bladder and the Vehicle Hub Station (VHB), VHS is quickly integrated into any vehicle.

The Aquasource bladder holds 5 gallons and can also be worn as a backpack with it’s own straps or connected to a MOLLE frame. The VHB has 6 ports to accommodate the Source self-sealing SQC “quick-connectors” which are removable for cleaning or field replacement. The 6 ports can accommodate 6 different personnel or can be used to daisy chain VHBs to add ports. Also, the individual push button drink valves stay with the user, no matter where they are riding.

Source is well known for their glass-like PE reservoir that offers neutral taste. Additionally, it is easily cleaned due to the slider top that allows whole hand access to the inside of the bladder.
