Savage Announces New Episode of Savage Journeys: Making It Rain Outdoors

Sunday, June 30th, 2024

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – June 28, 2024 – Savage Arms® announces the release of its newest Savage Journeys episode: Making it Rain Outdoors. This story follows Savage Arms ambassadors Rain and Jason Williams and the generational tradition of hunting and fishing that Rain Williams was born into and is sharing with her family. The Williams hope to instill in their children the same passion for the outdoors and inspire other families to connect with nature to ensure the legacy continues for future generations.

Viewers can watch as Rain tells the story of her father and grandfather instilling a love for the outdoors in her from a young age, and how she came to introduce her husband Jason to hunting and fishing when they began dating. Now parents of three, viewers witness them discuss combining parenthood with the outdoors and the balance that takes. The Williams also describe how their brand, Rain Outdoors, came to be and the mission of their platform.

“My husband was passionate about promoting where he was from in the city so he knew all about social media. He would take pictures of me outside hunting and fishing and the brand started building from there,” said Rain Williams. “For a long time, I knew that I wanted to get young people involved, especially young women. Hearing from parents who tell me that their daughters decided to start hunting or fishing because of me is what inspires me to keep making content and building Rain Outdoors.”

As important as creating and sharing content is to Rain and Jason, they stand firm in the idea that the most important job they can do in growing the outdoor community is to instill those values in their children. The Williams work hard to teach their sons that hunting and fishing is more for the harvest than anything else, showing them every step of the process from the catch or kill to a home-cooked meal.

“Rain’s story is important to tell because it highlights the power of family traditions and the vital role of teaching the next generation to cherish our outdoor heritage,” said Kristin Boeshart, Digital Marketing Manager at Savage Arms. “Rain and Jason share their joy for the outdoors and their family every day on their pages.”

The Williams continue to pursue their goals, with a bright vision for the future of Rain Outdoors. Having recently released her first children’s outdoor coloring and activity book, Rain Outdoors Into the Wild, Rain hopes to spark children around the country’s interest in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Rain and Jason’s adventures are documented on their Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.

“We’re trying to build an outdoors legacy that will last beyond our lives and this is just the beginning of that journey,” said Rain Williams.

This Savage Journeys episode debuted on the Savage Arms website and through its social channels on June 28. For more information about Savage Arms and Savage Journeys, visit savagearms.com.

McAlester Army Ammunition Plant Successfully Completes Surge Outload Exercise

Sunday, June 30th, 2024

A week of bustling activity at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant’s depot operations outload sites ensured the depot operations team executed its outload mission with a 100% completion rate and 19 hours ahead of the surge outload exercise scheduled stop time.

The exercise began on June 3 and was completed on June 7 with the depot operations team prepping and packaging almost 500 twenty-foot equivalent units in nine 12-hour shifts.

“The shipping of ammunition to the warfighter attracts a certain vigor from the MCAAP team. When experiencing this mission activity on the distribution pads, there just isn’t a greater feeling of patriotism that can be applied to our duty as Army Civilians,” said Todd Stone, MCAAP’s depot operations director. “It is simply moving to watch thousands of tons of ammunition, prepared and loaded by the MCAAP teammates, to be shipped to serve our nation. This is truly where the rubber meets the road.”

In coordination with the Transportation Engineering Agency, MCAAP sent munitions Outside the Continental U.S. in support of U.S. Central Command, U.S. European Command, and Presidential Drawdown requirements demonstrating the installation’s capability of ramping up outload requirements with short notice.

“I am extremely proud of the mission our depot operations team recently completed,” said Col. Gabe Pryor, MCAAP’s commander. “It can be difficult to operate as a well-oiled machine during a long-sustained outload, but the team welcomed the task and executed the mission with precision.

“The highly skilled workforce of MCAAP allows us to remain ready, reliable, and lethal at any given time,” Pryor added. “Our depot operations team worked diligently to ensure safety and readiness.”

The mission of MCAAP, a subordinate of the Joint Munitions Command, is to provide global sustainment across the Army through ammunition production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization. The government-owned, government-operated installation is housed on more than 45,000 acres and has the storage capacity of 6.3 million square feet.

AKTI & Willey Knives Applaud Introduction of Knife Legislation

Saturday, June 29th, 2024

Delaware Initiative to Remove Restrictions on Individuals and Benefit Retailers
Cody, Wyoming, June 19, 2024 – The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) and Willey Knives, a Delaware-based retailer, applaud the recent introduction of legislation by state Senator David Wilson to provide positive changes for knife owners and retailers in Delaware by removing dated prohibitions on automatic knives.  If passed, SB23 will bring Delaware laws in line with nearly half of the United States and remove barriers that put Delaware-based retailers at a competitive disadvantage.

“As a second-generation family-owned small business, we are always looking to respond to our customers’ needs,” said Geri L. Elliot, Co-owner of Willey Knives in Greenwood, Delaware. “In this case, we can’t because of where we are located.  Meanwhile, less than 20 miles away, our competitors across the border can sell these tools to their customers.  Delaware residents also deserve the opportunity to carry these knives, as citizens from many other states have done for decades.  We thank AKTI for their hard work advocating for this initiative and our Senator Wilson for carrying this legislation forward and supporting his district.”

Delaware law currently prohibits the ownership, possession, and sale of automatic knives, commonly used in agriculture, the trades, and by outdoor enthusiasts such as anglers and hunters.  The legislation removes these restrictions and allows knife retailers to sell the knives, as is common in other states.

“Delaware knife law changes have been a priority for the American Knife & Tool Institute since 2013,” said CJ Buck, AKTI Presidentand CEO of Buck Knives. “We sincerely thank Senator Wilson for his effort to bring relief to both individuals and knife businesses. This legislation has had broad bipartisan support in other states and has been signed into law by Republican and Democratic Governors.  We look forward to working with the Legislature to make this bill a law.”

“My bill will repeal an archaic provision in our law and bring it in line with nearly every other state in the nation,” Senator Wilson said.  “This commonsense solution will be good for local businesses like Willey Knives, who should not be disadvantaged only because they are based in Delaware.  It’s also good for knife owners who use these knives as tools of their trade or recreationally.”

“We thank the knife community for helping spread the news about our initiative in Delaware,” added Buck.  Updates on the progress will be available on our website, and individuals can sign up for our monthly emails that include legislative updates.”

Knife laws of all 50 states can be reviewed on the AKTI website, www.AKTI.org, as well as detailed articles about understanding knife laws and court decisions.

GA-ASI and Lockheed Martin Developing Net-Enabled Weapons Capability for MQ-9B SeaGuardian

Friday, June 28th, 2024

SAN DIEGO – 27 June 2024 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) are collaborating to provide Net-Enabled Weapons (NEW) capability for GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The addition of NEW capability for SeaGuardian will bolster the Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Targeting (ISR&T) capability for the aircraft.

The NEW technology provides expanded sensor targeting applications for the precision targeting of long-range weapons. SeaGuardian’s demonstrated persistence coupled with its vast array of precision targeting sensors enables more efficient kill chains, especially in contested environments. GA-ASI’s MQ-9B SeaGuardian® UAS, and SeaVue multi-role radar from Raytheon, an RTX business, will effectively leverage Lockheed Martin’s extensive NEW expertise to further refine targeting capabilities for future theater deployments. Initial testing was completed on June 5, 2024, with F/A-18s on the U.S. Navy’s W-289 test range in Southern California.

GA-ASI and Lockheed Martin have been developing Link 16 messages to communicate with weapons inflight using the SeaGuardian Systems Integration Lab (SIL) in preparation for overwater range test flight.

“This is a very important system attribute for SeaGuardian to enable naval long-range targeting CONOPS against high-end threats at much less risk to manned platforms,” said GA-ASI President David R. Alexander. “We appreciate Lockheed Martin’s support in helping us prove out the NEW technology, which is an important component of our ISR&T capability.”

MQ-9B SeaGuardian is a medium-altitude, long-endurance UAS. Its multi-domain capabilities allow it to flex from mission to mission. SeaGuardian has been used by the U.S. in several recent demonstrations, including Northern Edge, Integrated Battle Problem, and Group Sail.
