Tuesday, January 18th, 2022

Crye Precision is displaying multiple new products for 2022 including cold weather clothing, overwhites, accessories for armor carriers, a pack, and belts.

SMOC

Naturally, I’m super excited about the SMOC (Special Missions Operations Coat) which is made from a durable water repellent ripstop nylon shell and is fully lined. However, in order to prevent overheating, they have incorporated mesh at the chest pockets and underarms. It incorporates thumb loop cuffs, an elastic crotch strap and a shock cord cinchable waist.

It also includes Field Expedient buttons which are square in shape and easily accessible with gloves. They can also be replaced without the need for sewing.

The roll-up, helmet compatible hood is stowable at the collar, and features 2-way adjustable shock cord. It is designed to integrate with the Compact Assault Ghillie and accepts CP’s Airflex Field Kneepad in the elbow pad pocket for support while prone. Fit is oversized to layer over a uniform or baselayer top and a LWF 2.0 or Mid Loft Jacket in cooler temps.

The new cold weather clothing consists of components of Crye’s Alpine Terrain Operations ensemble which was developed initially as part of the Nordic Combat Uniform System.

?

They are releasing High Loft Parka and Pant along with a Midloft Parka and Pant There’s also updates to the Halfjak and LWF.

HALFJAK 2.0

The HALFJAK 2.0 includes numerous enhancements. It has jump-tested shoulder pass-through pockets that give access to underlayers, and thumb loop cuffs that keep sleeves in place and fit over and under gloves. The new J Hook clips are used to attach the Halfjak to the armor vest. It is insulated with ClimaShield Apex insulation and the shell is Nano STX treated to keep the water out, while a more durable yet lightweight fabric on the lower sleeves provides reinforcement.

Overwhites

The Overwhites are all offered in MultiCam Alpine.

ATO LW Overwhite Jacket

The ATO – Alpine Terrain Operations Lightweight Overwhite Jacket offers quick alpine concealment in a highly packable, lightweight design. Constructed from a durable and water-resistant nylon shell, it features shoulder and pit zipper pass-through pockets to access gear underneath and provide ventilation. Sleeves stay in place with stretch thumb loop cuffs and an adjustable elastic cord waist and hem keeps out the cold. Designed to be layered over baselayer, uniform and outerwear tops.

Zip-On Panel Adapter

A simple PALS compatible zipper adapter for CP armor vests which facilitates the addition of zippered panels.

Modular Side Armor Suite

The new side armor pouch suite features Crye’s new revolutionary attachment system. Its made from Airlite material with their unique tip and slot geometry to provide a better connection without the potential failure that conventional snaps might have. Interior stretch fabric provides for a form fit and allows for carrying soft armor and a 6×6 side armor plate. This new strap system allows for a secure fit to JPC, AVS and skeletal cummerbund system. Five sizes provide overlap and coverage.

EXP Venture Pack

The EXP VENTURE PACK has a large top opening with built-in garment bag allows for easy packing, protecting suits or uniforms. The internal separate shoe compartment provides a space to keep your shoes or dirty clothes away from the interior of the bag.

Storable reinforced pack straps and highly durable 1000D exterior.

Belts

Finally, there are four new belts. Three are components of the Minimalist Carry System and the odd man out is the latest iteration of the Blast Belt.

MCS Inner Belt

Crye Precision’s MCS INNER BELT works as a pants belt while supporting outer attachable combat belts. A low profile semi-rigid contoured design ensures there is no pinching while supporting drop holsters or IWB holsters. Mil-spec VELCRO on outer face provides a platform for a secure fit when mating with Crye’s outer belt. 1” adjustable side tabs made with Mil-spec webbing allow for multiple closing options, 1” G-hook and 1” Side release buckle provided. Available in 6 sizes.

AIRLITE SLC Blast Belt

The AIRLITE SLC Blast belt provides level IIIA protection in a low profile contoured package allowing for a streamlined fit while reducing weight using Crye’s new AIRLITE material for mounting pouches. Side flaps with snaps allow for quick and easy attachment and removal of drop holster systems. Inside reinforced pockets allow belt to integrate seamlessly with StKSSTM (Structural Kinetic Support System) our revolutionary load support system that transfers vest-borne weight to the hips. The AIRLITE SLC Blast belt is compatible with Crye Precision’s LRB and suspenders.

MCS Load Rated Belt

The MCS Load Rated Duty Belt provides the highest level of comfort with the ability to attach MOLLE style or AVS style pouches. Independently tested to meet the static and dynamic strength requirements of EN 358 (Fall prevention test standard). A low profile semi-rigid contoured design ensures there is no pinching while supporting drop holsters or your belt pouches. MIL-SPEC webbing on the outer face provides a platform for a secure pouch attachment while low profile hook on the inside ensures a secure attachment to the MCS Inner Belt.

MCS Duty Belt

The MCS Duty Belt is designed for comfortable wear as a duty/gun/gear belt with the ability to attach MOLLE style or AVS style pouches. Colors vary based upon product. Once again, all of the Overwhites are in MultiCam Alpine. Other clothing is MultiCam with possible solid options like Black, Ranger Green and Coyote. Nylon gear in MultiCam and Black, Ranger Green and Coyote or Gray.

Everything is Berry compliant except the ATO High Loft Pant because the reversible zipper isn’t available in the US.

PFM from Head to Toe: Qore Performance Launches All-new IceVents Insoles

Tuesday, January 18th, 2022

Sterling, VA: In their eternal quest to liberate humans from environmental constraints, Qore Performance, Inc., is excited to launch the newest addition to their popular IceVents line of ventilated load-bearing pads: IceVents Insoles. The long-awaited, much-anticipated IceVents Insoles are designed specifically for hard-use applications where ventilated insoles can provide much needed thermoregulatory advantages to the end-user.

IceVents Insoles provide durable, duty-grade ventilation in boots designed for military, law enforcement, and construction/safety applications. Engineered with zero drop, IceVents Insoles have the same height/thickness in the heel as they do in the toe. This makes them ideal for duty boots and work boots. IceVents Insoles are optimized for ventilation, not therapeutic value like an orthotic.

Anti-microbial at the molecular level, IceVents Insoles are constructed from the same thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) found throughout the IceVents line of ventilated load-bearing pads, making them absolute magic for feet while on duty.

“Our IceVents Insoles help us advance our vision for Building A Superhuman Future by taking full advantage of the fact that the soles of our feet are uniquely optimized for thermal exchange,” says Justin Li, Qore Performance Co-Founder and CEO, “providing convective ventilation in an otherwise stuffy environment enhances human performance and creates a competitive advantage where none previously existed. This is what our IceAge Ecosystem does for end-users.”  To learn more about the different types of cooling/energy transmission, click here.

IceVents Insoles feature all of the same technology that have made IceVents Classic and IceVents Aero the standard for best-in-class plate carrier padding and ventilation, rendering conventional materials like spacer mesh and foam completely obsolete:
– 90% air by volume
– Omni-directional venting keeps you dry and comfortable
– Plush hexagonal honeycomb for unmatched load-bearing comfort
– Load distribution architecture that outperforms conventional materials like spacer mesh and foam, reducing fatigue
– Anti-microbial at the molecular level
– Abrasion resistant
– Washable (if needed)
– Stimulates superficial blood flow to improve circulation

As the inventors of specialized and consumable thermoregulation for PPE users, Qore Performance bridges the gap between human and machine. Their IceAge Ecosystem protects over 30,000 daily active users in occupational safety alone. In addition to their military, law enforcement, and prepared civilian customers, dozens of America’s Fortune 1000 companies including Boeing, Dutch Bros Coffee, Charlotte Area Transit System, America’s Chicken, Marathon Petroleum, Valvoline Instant Oil Change, and FedEx depend on Qore Performance to safeguard their teams and their bottom lines. Qore Performance safety customers have worked over 4,000,000 hours since 2017 without a single minute lost to a heat injury.

Introducing: The TASKER Network

Monday, January 17th, 2022

The time has come for Tactics & Applications to enter the next phase in its evolution. We are enthused to present the fruits of our latest endeavor: the TASKER Network.

Tasker – Noun: One who performs or delegates a task.

TASKER is a project that culminates all of what Tactics & Applications and Lightfighter have collectively accomplished over the years and provides it to the 2A community in a centralized and easy to navigate format. It is an aggregate resource of content, communication, and networking.

At TASKER, we believe in being inclusive of our friends and the extended family they form throughout the industry, and we honor them by showcasing their contributions to the greater community, as we are all in the 2A movement together.

Just as Tactics & Applications has done on Facebook, with news drawn from a slate of the best publications our industry currently has to offer, along with native original content and accompanied by the Lightfighter.net forum, TASKER gives the audience a place to simultaneously learn and discuss the subject matter among a community respected and renown for the highest standards of information and the performance and capability that information enables.

All of this, all in one place, all beyond the auspices of social media, a realm that has become increasingly hostile towards the firearms industry and its constituents over the last two years.

In addition to facilitating the flow and circulation of high quality information among end users, TASKER also provides a portal for commerce, where our followers can finally purchase branded merchandise that’s been requested of us over the years.

As we approached the development of our Webstore, we chose to utilize WooCommerce as the store platform rather than Shopify, as an act of solidarity in standing with our friends in the 2A vendor circuit who were unjustly inconvenienced and turned away from Shopify when they turned their noses up at the firearms industry. “Stick together” isn’t a mere platitude at TASKER, but a practice.

In addition to these services, TASKER will provide an apparatus for industry personnel to communicate and network towards furthering the development of their wares and concepts, all amongst themselves, to ensure they can both hear and be heard by their colleagues however they deem appropriate. This utility would be akin to a trade show in a wholly online setting, secure, and available year round. This same feature will also be available for those who wish to sponsor or archive their technical content for ease of access and distribution among their target audience.

TASKER is what the industry and greater 2A community needed ten years ago: A network where they could come and learn and discuss from and with the best of the best, to set the standard proper, and then elevate that standard, without the interference of self interest and lesser quality wannabe authorities muddying the waters and skewing the signal to noise ratio, as we’ve seen elsewhere on social media. A place where the end user and the quality of information and products they receive is the priority over the individual entities delivering it to them, towards elevating the readiness capability of that audience, in the spirit of our second amendment: armed professional and armed citizen alike, Taskers either way.

TASKER will be the face of all of our in-house endeavors and the presentation thereof going forward. You can find us and links to all aforementioned content and information sources at www.taskernetwork.com

Welcome to TASKER.

SOTECH Celebrates 25 years Presenting New Products and a New Look at SHOT Show 2022

Monday, January 17th, 2022

Recently SOTECH started to bring back some of its most impactful products in new camos and enhanced designs distributing them in weekly drops. Sensing an interest our history of gear innovation, SOTECH is using this vehicle to develop homage pieces and modernizations from the early days of our 25 year history.

Always evolving with input from the field, SOTECH is expanding the Cobra Pack line by adding the Mini Cobra, Micro Cobra and Sustainment Pack Cobras.  The micro and mini are a medical dangler and a butt pack that can both top open and splay open like the larger 3 Cobra Packs. Working with Special Forces Medics and members of the Army Airborne community, we added two sustainment side packs to give the medic extended range and duration of operation.

SOTECH is also displaying its medical micro pack in a Dyneema variant with carbon fiber inserts. The Micro came from a request 5 years ago from a Ranger medic named Mac who wanted to split the flat med pack into a micro pack and either a MARCH belt or fanny pack.

Respecting the calls for us to reintroduce our h-harnesses and belts, we wanted to honor our beginnings by doing a reboot of an ALICE Pack predecessor – the ARVN Ranger Pack, a favorite of MACV-SOG and other SOF units. At a base level, this is a hat tip to our early days modifying ALICE packs, but its much more significant than that.  SOTECH started in a time when we were issued the same tired designs that barely evolved from World War Two through Korea and Vietnam and into the Cold War of the 80’s. There was a creativity born from lessons from the field, and a handful of innovators started companies to modify and then create alternatives.  In this vein, we took the day pack version of what would become the ALICE and modernized and modified the design with Tegris and improved cuts (the pack was designed for small-framed Vietnamese soldiers). The result is an EDC pack that takes you back to your days in BDUs every time you cinch that ribbed web through those metal tabler buckles.

The Special Forces Association will be meeting in SOTECH’s booth (20059) at SHOT Show. If you are an SFA member or are Army Special Forces Qualified or have made a significant contribution to the Special Forces Regiment, stop by booth 20059 and meet SFA President Kevin Harry and his SFA leadership team on Wednesday and Thursday from noon until 1pm. SFA members walking the show are welcome to drop by booth 20059 for waters and munchies and a rest stop.

In the new SHOT Show floor layout, SOTECH came out on top! Our booth is located at the first entrance door on the hallway coming in from the Venetian Casino. Take the first right you see when you come in, walk through that door and you are staring at Booth 20059.
See you at SHOT!
