TacMed Tuesday – TacMed Solutions Foxtrot Litter Helps Save a Life

Tuesday, October 19th, 2021

TacMed Solutions is a proud supporter of Cops Direct, a non-profit organization which helps supply law enforcement agencies in need with lifesaving first responder medical equipment. Part of the May 2021 Cops Direct allocation of equipment donations was to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department located in Athens, Alabama.

The equipment received is pictured with the agency personnel. On June 14th, the donation was received, and just two days later, they put a TacMed Solutions Foxtrot Litter into real-life use on a missing person/medical emergency call. The patient suffered a diabetic emergency and had been missing for three days when he was found off the beaten path in a heavily wooded area.

The Deputies utilized the Foxtrot Litter to get the patient back to the closest dirt road where they awaited EMS. We are thankful for the lifesaving actions of the Limestone County Deputies and are excited to continue to support Cops Direct. If you want to help us in supporting underfunded departments, make a donation and support the organization at copsdirect.org!

Arc’teryx LEAF – Limited Edition Duffle Pack 50

Tuesday, October 19th, 2021

Occasionally, Arc’teryx LEAF creates what is called an SMU for “Special Make Up” a custom run, if you will, which isn’t included in the standard lineup.

This SMU is a 50 liter duffel made from the same MultiCam, PU coated 500D Cordura material used in the DryPack. Other than layout and size, there’s a distinct difference from the DryPack; the Duffle Pack 50 isn’t fully waterproof.

Instead, it is highly water resistant, meaning seams are sealed and there’s a weather flap over the full-length zipper making the duffle highly resistant to rain. It can also sit in your boat and keep your gear dry. You just can’t dive it.

Additionally, it features two removable, padded shoulder straps and haul handles at either end and at each side. You can flip the adjustable shoulder straps either way so that the zipper is toward the wearer’s back, or away from it.

There are only 890 duffles available worldwide, across regional shops, so if you want to get ahold of one of these, this pre-order is your chance.

Pre-orders will be open for two weeks and available from:

Crye Precision Announces New Cold Weather System

Monday, October 18th, 2021

Brooklyn, NY – October 18, 2021 – Crye Precision®, one of the leading suppliers of uniforms and personal equipment to the military, law enforcement and public safety markets, has announced the release of their new ATO – Alpine Terrain Operations ™ line of outerwear, with the first two products, the ATO Mid Loft Jacket™ and the ATO Mid Loft Pant ™.

Each item in the ATO Mid Loft™ line is designed to provide warmth and wind protection while avoiding overheating. Constructed with a durable wind resistant nylon fabric that is lightweight and packable, combined with the Polartec® Alpha® Direct insulation, which does not require a lining layer, reduces the overall bulk but maintains a high Clo value. The insulation is also highly breathable which allows for optimal ventilation during high activity in cold temperatures.

The ATO™ Mid Loft Jacket is designed to fit over the Crye Precision G3/G4 Uniform and Aclima® baselayer tops, and under the Compact Alpine Overwhites and High Loft Jacket. It can be worn as a concealment outer layer in warmer temperatures and an insulation layer in the cold.

The ATO™ Mid Loft Pant features an adjustable waist, glove compatible zippers, and pass-through hand pockets to access under layers. Full side leg zips for easy donning/doffing over boots. ¾ Length to allow a better fit when worn with ski boots and provide warmth at crucial areas of leg. It can be worn over the Crye Precision G3/G4 Uniform and Aclima® baselayer pants, and under the High Loft Pant.

The Crye Precision® design team met extensively with those serving in extreme climates, to better understand their needs.  Each in-depth interview consisted of understanding operational demands, reviewing currently issued uniforms, and climate difficulties. Based on the end-user feedback, the new ATO line provides mobility and functionality for optimal operations.

In addition to the ATO line, Crye Precision has officially partnered with Norwegian wool specialists, Aclima® to bring an innovative and military-tested base layering system. Aclima® is family-owned and has been developing cold weather solutions since 1939. They specialize in Merino wool base layers for all climates, activity levels, and professions. Wool has the unique ability to insulate as well as wick moisture from the body. It also has a natural anti-microbial trait that reduces odor. Both the WoolNet and HotWool layers integrate with our G3 and G4 uniforms. They can be worn underneath in cold environments to add scalable layers of insulation. These unique features and Aclima’s creative design made them the logical choice to pair with the ATO cold weather line.

The ATO Uniforms and Aclima® baselayers are available now, through the Crye Precision® website, www.cryeprecision.com. As always, contact Crye Precision® for any customizations to orders.

TNVC Night Fighter 2022 Training Schedule Announced

Monday, October 18th, 2021

TNVC is proud to announce our 2022 Night Fighter Training Schedule!

For the 2022 Training Year, we have instituted a couple of small changes.  We have changed the name of our level 2 class from “Armed Professional” to “Night Fighter 201”. While the content of the class will not drastically change, we wanted to make the course a little more focused and applicable to open enrollment students. Law Enforcement and Military professionals will still get a lot out of this class—the change in the course is primarily in name only. Additionally, we were able to add another location for this course at our Oklahoma venue.

While the listed classes have been locked in for 2022, we are continuing to look at other locations and venues for all three of our classes, so keep watching as classes may be added throughout the year.

We have also updated our Frequently Asked Questions page with more information and details to include the training locations we go to and answer some common inquiries.

As we wrap up our 2021 training schedule, we want to thank you for all the support.  We enjoyed having all the students we did in the classes; we had lots of fun times and made new friends along the way.

You can always contact us for any specific questions you have, and we will be happy to help you make decisions prior to coming to class.

If you do not have equipment, but still want to train, we will offer limited night vision rentals at each venue.  These offerings sell out quickly, so again sign up early if you intend to rent gear. Complete information about the TNVC rental gear program can be found here:

Performance Upgrade: Rheinmetall Presents New High-Roof Version of the Fuchs/Fox Wheeled Armored Transport Vehicle

Monday, October 18th, 2021

Rheinmetall has developed a new version of the Fuchs/Fox wheeled armoured transport vehicle. Featuring a high roof, the new variant of this battle-tested 6×6 vehicle enables a wide array of capabilities covering the full operational spectrum. Designed for maximum mobility, the new high-roof version of the Fuchs/Fox can serve in roles ranging from tactical operations centre to armoured field ambulance. Rheinmetall is presenting a demonstrator configuration of the armoured field ambulance on 14-15 October 2021 at the Congress of the Gesellschaft für Wehrmedizin und Wehrpharmazie, a German NGO dedicated to military medicine and military pharmaceuticals, which takes place in the Rhein-Mosel-Halle convention centre in Koblenz.

The high-roof Fuchs/Fox demonstrator’s modernized exterior design and greater height are particularly striking. The interior volume now measures twelve cubic metres, with headroom increased to 1.60 metres from the previous 1.26 metres. The armoured field ambulance version of the new high-roofed Fuchs/Fox can carry four wounded personnel, two lying down and two seated. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with an advanced 360-degree panoramic vision system. Featuring fusion and a daytime/night-time capability, it is identical to the system used in the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. This substantially enhances the crew’s situational awareness. A NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture-conformant connection to additional sensors or a weapons station is possible, as is the use of virtual reality goggles, which enable the crew to “see” through the armour.

In a manner analogous to the Puma, the Fuchs/Fox is also able to communicate with dismounted forces, including medics in this case, who are equipped with a special variant of the Future Soldier – Expanded System (IdZ-ES) soldier system. Thanks to uniform command-and-control technology, “Future Medics” will have access to the same situation information as the troops they support.

Moreover, the modernized Fuchs/Fox features a new, more powerful engine, a new transfer case, a new brake system and a digital electrical system. All these things improve the vehicle’s off-road performance and make it easier to operate.

The high-roof Fuchs/Fox demonstrator was developed at the Rheinmetall Landsysteme in Kassel in the German state of Hesse, the vehicle’s birthplace.

Numerous variants of the Fuchs/Fox armoured transport vehicle have formed part of the Bundeswehr inventory ever since 1979, with over a hundred once deployed in Afghanistan. Thanks to its operational versatility and high reliability, the Fuchs/Fox has always been popular with the Bundeswehr. Throughout its service life, the vehicle has been continuously perfected.

To date, some 1,600 Fuchs/Fox vehicles have been built. Today the armed forces of numerous nations place their trust in multiple variants of this tried-and-true system, including armoured personnel carriers, mobile command posts and vehicles specially configured for an NBC detection role.
