Magpul – Hooded MBUS Pro Front Sight

Tuesday, April 29th, 2025

Magpul has announced a hooded version of their MBUS Pro Front Sight.

Featuring toolless adjustment, this all-steel backup sight features a corrosion-resistant QPQ finish. Many believe the hooded-style sight, is commonly seen on HK firearms, is quicker for target acquisition.

When the Hooded Pro Front Sight is paired with the dual aperture, windage-adjustable MBUS Pro Sight – Rear, it can act as a diopter style sight (aperture within an aperture) depending on its placement in relation to the rear sight.

MATBOCK, LLC of Virginia Beach, VA, Is Awarded $17.3m Phase 4 Contract Modification to Further the Advances from the Previous Joint Light Tactical Vehicle Hybrid Electric Vehicle pOTA Contract

Monday, April 28th, 2025

Virginia Beach, VA: MATBOCK, an industry leader in bringing paradigm shifting technologies to the market, is excited to announce the 4th phase and partnership with the U.S. Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) to develop a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle Hybrid Electric Vehicle (JLTV HEV) prototype that will utilize a Heavy Gun Carrier JLTV as the base platform.

On 16 September 2024, MATBOCK started the 4th phase in developing and building the battlefield changing JLTV HEV. MATBOCK was awarded a modification to a previously awarded contract to develop and deliver a JLTV HEV.  The primary purpose of the 3rd phase of this project was to validate or negate the feasibility of prototyping a tactical HEV. The goals of the project were to increase the overall automotive performance and operational range, increase the availability of on-board and off platform power, and increase the vehicle’s overall operational effectiveness by adding additional capabilities.

During the 4TH phase of this contract, MATBOCK will refine and deliver two (2) additional JLTV HEVs to the Army for extensive testing. The design and build phases will require the MATBOCK team to design and deliver technology and parts that have not yet been developed for today’s use in this application.

MATBOCK has used the time between phases to redesign its facility to accommodate the additional personnel and equipment required to deliver battle ready JLTV HEVs.  The MATBOCK Team of professionals dedicated to this project have been brought together from a diverse range of backgrounds to deliver the most innovative technology yet. Leading the charge is an experienced program manager who has delivered complex projects under tight timelines to the DoD.  The team is comprised of former military personnel and EV / automotive professionals bringing a unique blend of overseas experience and industry thought leaders.

MATBOCK President Zach Steinbock said, “We are all extremely excited and proud to continue the development of the JLTV HEV.  Overcoming the challenges of the last phase showed true resilience from our engineers and mechanics, and the lessons learned will be critical in the future successes of making this technology truly operational in combat scenarios.  The capabilities of a hybrid electric allow for a redefinition of what combat vehicles can achieve in the battlespace.”

NRAAM 25 – Magpul UCS

Sunday, April 27th, 2025

Of the many new products announced by Magpul during this year’s NRA Annual Meeting, the new Universal Carbine Stock caught my eye, which is intended to be used with a vertical M-1913 stock mounting rail.

To accommodate the wide variety of charging handles styles and configuration, ejection port location, and control placement, the UCS features a reversible hinge for left and right folding configurations, and five degrees of drop for clearance (most stocks feature less of a drop, which doesn’t work for all firearms). The UCS stock also ships with two reversible cheek risers (0.50”, and 0.75”), and when combined with the reversible M1913 clamp (allowing for a 1/2-slot height adjustment along the rear rail for increased comb height flexibility), the shooter can dial in head placement for an optimal sight picture using iron sights or optics. The stock also gives shooters thee (3) inches of length of pull (LOP) adjustment across six (6) positions – which can be adjusted via the LOP buttons – the stock fits any shooter, with and without armor or other bulky equipment, and only adds about 18 ounces to a firearm without a stock. Just like the stock itself, the UCS’s sling attachment point is an anti-rotational QD socket that’s reversible. Last but not least, the stock is compatible with MOE SL and DT Butt-Pads, so you have options, there, too.

UCS Features:

-Six position, push-button adjustable LOP (3” total adjustment)

-Reversible folding mechanism

-Toolless removable and reversible cheek risers included (0.5” and 0.75”)

-5° drop angle for charging handle and ejection port clearance

-Reversible M1913 clamp for ½-slot height adjustment

-Reversible anti-rotation QD Socket

-Weighs just over 18 ounces

Saturday, April 26th, 2025

Streamlight debuted the introduced the TLR-1 HP-X USB/TLR-1 HP-X, a high-candela weapon light for full-size and compact railed handguns at NRAAM 2025.

The multi-fuel light gives users the choice of using either cost-saving SL-B9 USB-C rechargeable battery packs or 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries.

The TLR-1 HP-X USB/TLR-1 HP-X features a white power LED and a special optic that produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination. The new light delivers 1,300 lumens and 77,000 candela over a 555-meter beam distance when using two Streamlight SL-B9® Li-Ion 850mAh USB-C rechargeable battery packs, and 1,000 lumens and 53,000 candela over 460 meters with two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries inserted. The rechargeable battery packs charge within 2.5 hours via an included USB-C cord or an optional bank charger. Run times range from 60 minutes using the SL-B9 battery packs to 90 minutes using disposable batteries.

The new light has customizable rear switches (standard or extended) to the left and right of the trigger guard for ambidextrous operation and to match shooting preferences. The new model provides momentary and constant-on operation and includes a user-activated strobe. It also features a hinged face cap with robust release controls that allow for front-loaded battery changes without removing the light from the firearm.

Fabricated from 6000 series machined aluminum with a black anodized finish, the TLR-1 HP-X USB/TLR-1 HP-X has a switch housing made from impact- and chemical-resistant engineering polymer. The new light weighs 5.43 ounces using two SL-B9 batteries and 5.20 ounces with two CR123A batteries. It measures 3.70 inches long.

With extensively live-fire tested, impact-resistant construction, the model features an IPX7-rated design, making it waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

NRAAM 25 – Magpul Adds Magazines for the SIG P365

Saturday, April 26th, 2025

Magpul announced an addition to their steel magazine line with the AMAG 17 SG9 – SIG P365.

Initially available this summer in 17 round configuration, they will quickly add 10, 12 and 14 round models. Since SIG has discontinued the 15 round magazine for the P365, this is great news.

These features incorporate a stainless-steel body and a high-visibility, controlled-tilt follower. There’s also a stainless-steel spring and flared floorplate that’s easily removable for cleaning and routine maintenance. We didn’t forget the paint-pen dot matrix for magazine marking and capacity-indicator windows to confirm your round count. It also has the option of grip extensions for the X/XL and Standard grip lengths, as well as a standard floor plate for the Macro, so the AMAG 17 SG9 – SIG P365 fits comfortably in any variant of the P365 pistol.
