The shoulders incorporate UF PRO® air/pac® inserts.
And the elbow patches accept D3O® Trio Mid protectors.
Finally, there are both upper and lower arm pockets.
For some, Kitanica’s designs are too radical, but I think these new Brush Pants will garner a wider appeal.
Manufactured from 100% Cotton Duck in a Brown color, these will fit in just as well at the range as they do in town or on the farm. With bartacked seams and reinforced seat, they feature 2 hip pockets, 2 rear pockets and a knife/accessory pocket on the right leg. Pay attention to the take up tabs and sizing, you may want to go down a size if you are in between.
This three dimensionally printed shirt puts the vital body parts on full view. Large muscle groups, internal organs are displayed for edged weapon training, baton training. You are only limited by your imagination. Target areas are now right in front of your eyes. A moving target is what you likely will face, so train to hit prescribed areas.
An additional benefit of this shirt is that with marking devices you can visibly “score” the wounds and discuss the psychological and physiological implications. In addition you can use the “hits” to conduct immediate after action triage and first responder treatment based on the now visible wounds. Self treatment for preservation and minimization of injuries is the new wave of LEO training so make use of this shirt to bring it home in your training classes.
The word from Wild Things is FR. In addition to a Merino base layer, they’ve introduced an interesting FR fleece jacket that utilizes a proprietary fleece liner with Sigma face. It’s a waist length design with slash hand warmer pockets.
WTT has also worked up a couple of other jacket designs that incorporate WL Gore fabrics including Fast and Light as well as Pyrad. Stay tuned for details on these new garments.
You may remember these poly-Lycra mix Tshirts in Heather Grey from SHOT Show. Now, they are available in Coyote (OD and Sand on the way).
This shirt is brand new and uses a new modacrylic FR fabric. What’s really interesting about this shirt, available in short and long sleeve, is that it features a semi athletic cut, with a slight taper at the waist.
We recently recommended the Arc’teryx LEAF Talos LT Halfshell and we just got these photos from Haley Strategic Partners that give you some good all around shots of the Talos LT to help you get a better feel for it. It’s been a busy week at the House Armed Services Committee where they’ve been working on the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act. In fact, it passed out of committee with a vote of 59-2 and is expected on thd House floor next week. And while, we’ve been talking quite a bit about the Enyart Amendment that directs all of DoD to adopt a common camouflage combat uniform, there are plenty of other Soldier Systems items on their plate.
From the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee we’ve seen language that:
1) Creates budget line items for protective equipment. This will move money out of Operations and Maintenance accounts and into procurement accounts providing more visibility of funding to industry in the Military Department’s budgets.
2) Provision requiring DOD to contract with a Federally Funded Research Center to study the procurement methods used to for protective equipment
3) Provision requiring the DOD to report on their body armor strategy to increase innovation, reduce weight, etc.
4) Provision requiring report on plan to provide female specific clothing and equipment.
Additionally, from the Chairman’s mark there is:
1) Language requiring IG to audit Berry amendment compliance
2) Directive report language to evaluate the risks of use of Lowest Price Technically Acceptable Contracting and Reverse Auctions for critical safety items and protective equipment.
The HASC characterized the bill in summary press release available here but this how they refer to their work on warfighter equipment:.
“The bill facilitates the development of ever more functional, lighter, and more protective body armor by requiring each service to create a separate procurement budget line for personal protective equipment- thus making body armor a more traditional weapon system acquisition program that can build on successive generations of innovation and investment, rather than the ad hoc procedure now in place. The bill also requires the Secretary of Defense to conduct a comprehensive study and assessment on ways to improve personal protective equipment for female service members.”
