Agilite’s Weapon Shelf is designed to hold the weapon at the ready during patrols or standing a post for long periods.

The PALS compatible Weapon Shelf is a two-piece design with a removable shelf.

The Redback Company is lucky to work with two great Brand Ambassadors. Glen Steyn and Piers Hallihan.
Glen Steyn (@glen.steyn)

Glen is a former Royal Marine and member of the Special Forces Support Group. Last year he, and another Royal Marine, walked the length of the Orange River in Africa completely unsupported. A journey of 2500 km over 97 days.

Glen is currently working with Veterans For Wildlife on anti-poaching operations and Ranger training in South Africa and Namibia.

Glen believes passionately in conservation and is dedicated to using his skills and training to end poaching in Africa.

When he isn’t treating the wildlife to his supermodel good looks he lives in Johannesburg in his native South Africa.
Piers Hallihan (@speleotrog)

Joining Glen is our second Brand Ambassador Piers Hallihan.

Piers is a consummate outdoorsman. Regularly to be found on top of or under the Welsh Hills as a keen mountaineer and caving enthusiast. Piers has been a Scout Leader since the mid-90s having joined as a youth in the early-80s. As a Scout Mountain Leader, he ensures that a new generation of young people is learning to love the outdoors.
He is also a long-standing member of South & Mid Wales Cave Rescue Team (http://smwcrt.org/j32/), using his caving skills to help others.

When he is not out and about being an outdoor god, Piers loves to spend time with his wife and children. He is also an accomplished photographer (check out his work at his website) and plays a mean trombone!
Piers says:
“Having spent time in the mountains with Ben and the Explorers who inspired the Redback brand, I’m flattered to be invited onto the team. Redback has a great ethos, some awesome product lines and some brilliant ideas for the future!”
The Redback Company is looking forward to working with Piers, alongside Glen, to develop new products, put prototypes through the wringer, and show why Redback Company products are worth buying.

The TILO series, the world’s smallest thermal imaging goggles, has enjoyed great popularity for around a year. With only 100g and 4cm length this device is by far without competition. The next larger device, the FLIR Breach, is twice as long and more than twice as heavy.Since the introduction of the TILO-6 with its 640×512 thermal sensor, Andres is also leading in the field of image resolution. Other devices in this range only have about 320×240 pixels.
But the development doesn’t stand still. Many users complained about the shorter range compared to larger thermal imaging devices, which is explained by the large field of view of the TILO. Since it was developed as thermal imaging goggles and therefore has to provide the user with a particularly good overview, the TILO only has a maximum detection range of 1000m.
The developers at Andres Industries have now faced this challenge and found a solution. They have developed an adapter with which a 3-fold afocal lens can be attached to the TILO within seconds. This connection is extraordinarily robust and so accurate that the TILO with attachment lens can even be used as an attachment to the ELCAN or short dot sights. Andres Industries does not sell suitable adapters to civilians, but these can be obtained from ACT in Luxembourg. By the way, the TILO is mounted upside down in front of the ZF. The screen font can be adapted for this purpose.
The only disadvantage is that the calibration by the flap of the TILO does not work anymore, because it has to be disassembled before. The calibration must now be started by pushing a button, then the device is directed to an even surface and the button is pushed again. Afterwards, one gets an excellent picture quality without any vignetting, as it is known from other devices with an 3x afocal lens. Here is a small video in which the function is explained.

KEENE, NH – Samson Manufacturing announced today that they have been chosen to supply the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) with their flip-up, backup iron sights (BUIS) for IDF M4 Carbines.

Working closely with the IDF, the Samson sights passed rigorous environmental and field testing prior to being assigned IDF Part Number 2888-88124. Significant quantities of this rugged and dependable sight have been in IDF field trials for almost a year.
These sights differ slightly from Samson’s standard offerings, featuring a slotted mounting screw and modified picatinny clamp. Also, per IDF specifications, the A2-style aperture is mounted such that the small aperture presents when the sight is deployed.
Samson COO Tim Mulverhill confirmed the announcement, “We are extremely pleased to have been chosen to support the IDF with our back-up sights. The IDF operational tempo and physical environment is notoriously hard on small arms equipment. The Israelis thoroughly test their field gear accordingly, and I am pleased to say that Samson sights have met the challenge.”
All work will be completed at Samson’s facility in Keene, New Hampshire. Samson will be adding this IDF version to their regular product offerings as IDF 2888-88124. Interested customers can review the IDF Sight and other Samson products at SHOT Show, booth 20327, in Las Vegas from January 22-25, 2019.

Yesterday, I found out why the Parachute Regiment refers to its troops as “Joe.”

Meet JOE.
In 1942 the PARAs were formed from soldiers already in the Army. The volunteers on transfer had their documents stamped with the letters J.O.E, standing for ‘joined on enlistment’. New members of the Regiment today are still refered to in this way.
It helps to place everyone on the same footing, building a cohesive team and family. Joe is genderless, doesn’t have a sexuality, finacial history, race, religion or come from a certain background. Joe is equal.

Combat Controllers from the U.S. and Polish forces conduct a military free fall during a culmination exercise near Krakow on Dec. 5, 2018. The exercise follows a two-month training in which the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command’s 321st Special Tactics Squadron assigned to the 352nd Special Operations Wing in England, and the Polish Special Operations Combat Control Team, share their best practices in order to build upon the Polish Special Operations Command’s ability to conduct special operations air land integration.
