Rapid Response Vest

Thursday, September 5th, 2019

Introducing the Rapid Response Vest (RRV), a high visibility, compact, and easily concealable identifier system for the first responder market. The RRV is a new take on first responder identification for highly dynamic situations and provides departments a color coded and layered response system that can be quickly deployed individually or as part of a unit. The RRV is lightweight vest built from ANSI rated mesh and reflective tape that allows clear 50’ identification of the wearer to the public and other Law Enforcement officials in both day and low light environments. The RRV can be quickly and easily donned over Undercover (UC) clothing, uniforms, jackets, and tactical vests. Unlike other sash or vest style identification systems the RRV allows the wearer access to both chest and belt mounted equipment thus not limiting their effectiveness to deal with any active threats that may be in the area. The RRV is currently available in a number of configurations for department or individual purchases. Please contact B4DI for more information or if a customized solution is needed.

Elite Los Angeles Tactical Teams Purchase EXFIL® Ballistic SL

Two of the best tactical teams in the U.S. have chosen Cleveland-based Team Wendy® as their ballistic helmet provider.

Team Wendy, which researches and develops high-quality headborne systems from the inside out, announced Thursday that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) purchased the company’s EXFIL® Ballistic SL helmet. LAPD bought 85 black helmets for its SWAT team, and LASD ordered 95 helmets in ranger green for its Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB).

LAPD’s SWAT team rescues dozens of hostages and manages 120-plus high-risk warrants and approximately 100 barricaded suspect cases per year. It responds to barricade or hostage incidents where the suspect is believed to be armed or an extreme threat to public safety. Typical situations include the presence of weapons, suspected gang activity and heavily fortified locations.

LASD is the largest sheriff’s department in the world. The Special Enforcement Bureau, newly equipped with Team Wendy helmets, is a full-time unit of tactical paramedics and rescue specialists, including a canine detail and a special weapons team. It works hand-in-hand with the department’s arson/explosives and hazardous materials details and coordinates security for visiting dignitaries and politicians, including the United States President and Vice President. SEB responds to an estimated 200-300 tactical operations every year, including barricaded suspects, high-risk warrants and hostage situations.

Team Wendy CEO Jose Rizo-Patron said the company exists for the sole purpose of protecting officers like these.

“The men and women of the LAPD and LASD put their lives on the line every day and we take pride in knowing we play a role in their safety,” he said. “This is why we do what we do.”

Joe Nagy, who works with law enforcement agencies around the country on behalf of Team Wendy, said the EXFIL Ballistic SL is built to do exactly what these agencies need.

“We spent a long time engineering this helmet so it would perform at a high caliber,” he said.

The EXFIL Ballistic SL is the fifth helmet in Team Wendy’s EXFIL line. It has a complete system weight of 2.2 pounds, meets a ballistic rating of NIJ Level III-A (according to NIJ STD 0106.01/0108.01) and exceeds ACH blunt impact protection requirements. It features the newer, lighter EXFIL Rail 3.0 for more efficient accessory mounting and the boltless CAM FIT™ Retention System for individualized fit and superior weight distribution.

LAPD and LASD join Orange County Sheriff’s Office and more than 20 other law enforcement agencies in southern California that wear Team Wendy helmet systems.

Point Blank Enterprises Announces Reserve and Auxiliary Officers Can Now Upgrade Their Armor Protection Through the National Reserve Officer Program

Monday, July 15th, 2019

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., July 15, 2019 — Point Blank Enterprises (“PBE”), the worldwide leader in the production of soft body armor and related protective solutions announces a program for Reserve and Auxiliary law enforcement officers to purchase soft body armor, rifle protection plates and complete active shooter kits at deeply discounted prices, directly through the National Reserve Officer Program.

The body armor systems available through Point Blank’s National Reserve Officer Program meet the company’s stringent quality control standards and have the standard 5 year ballistic warranty from the time of purchase. The program includes a variety of ballistic systems including select NIJ .06 Level IIA, II, and IIIA models. Now, with the addition of hard armor plates, Reserve and Auxiliary officers can enhance the protective capabilities of their body armor and have access to more options than ever before.

“Many reserve and auxiliary officers receive equipment from their policing agency, including body armor.  But, many reserves and auxiliaries are required to purchase at least some of their own gear,” said Dr. Ross Wolf, president of the Volunteer Law Enforcement Officer Alliance.  “This National Reserve Officer Program through Point Blank allows volunteers and part time police to have access to the protective gear that is necessary to perform their important role in communities.”

“The success of this program allows us to now expand the offerings to include hard armor plates and associated carriers,” stated Hoyt Schmidt, Executive Vice President of Commercial Sales at Point Blank Enterprises. “We conceived this program with the goal of ensuring that every reserve officer has access to the best protective armor solutions in the industry so that they can perform their function as effectively and safely as possible.”

In order to qualify for the program, Reserve Officers can visit the Point Blank website at www.pointblankenterprises.com/rop and sign up to initiate the verification process. The simple purchasing process allows officers to select their desired NIJ .06 threat level, ballistic model, appropriate size and carrier color (black or navy). Upon placing their order, the Reserve Officer can expect delivery in 10 business days, if not sooner.
