Women Gathered on Capitol Hill to Promote Gun Rights

Sunday, July 1st, 2018

WASHINGTON DC – The DC Project completed its annual trip to the nation’s Capitol this past week. More than 50 women and girls in 11 teams met with members of Congress over 4 days. This marks the third year for the women to meet with their legislators to reveal their stories and safeguard their Second Amendment rights.

The DC Project is a nonpartisan initiative to bring 50 women, one from each state, to Washington to dispel common myths and garner support for gun rights. The project is the brainchild of Dianna Muller, retired law enforcement officer turned professional 3-gun competitor, who just represented the USA in the IPSC World Shotgun match, where she brought home individual silver and team gold medals. In 2016 Muller met with her legislator and wanted to encourage other women to do the same, so she asked colleagues in the shooting community to join her.

Robyn Sandoval, Executive Director of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, has joined Muller on all three trips to DC. “When women and students make demands against our freedoms, it is important that our legislators know that those protestors do not speak for everyone,” says Sandoval. “We have more women than ever before wanting to exercise their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves and their families. We have youth who are dedicated to their marksmanship sports. Our lawmakers need to know our stories.”

Each DC Project delegate funded her own trip in this truly grassroots initiative. Participants’ schedules included meetings with Senate and House members and staffers, networking gatherings, and a rally on the U.S. Capitol grounds, featuring legendary advocate Dick Heller, 16-year-old Beth Walker of Indiana, 15-year-old Chloe Deaton of Florida, and Virginia House Delegate Nick Freitas. The schedule also included two range days for members of Congress and staff to meet with DC Project instructors to experience the culture of the shooting community and learn more about firearms.

Plano, TX (June, 2018) – Shadow Systems, a US-based manufacturer of Glock compatible parts and accessories, is proud to announce the release of the ‘Combat Special’ Glock 19 Slide, available exclusively through OpticsPlanet.

The G19 OpticsPlanet Combat Special Slide w/Cover Plate is engineered to maximize the function and handling characteristics of your Glock G19 pistol. The Combat Special also features an optics mount cut for the Trijicon RMR miniature red dot sight.

The slides are coated in cutting edge hard-use finishes–DLC is renowned for its hardness, lubricity, and deep black color. Our new PVD FDE finish is chemically identical to the finish chosen for the Army’s new modular handgun program. Tripwire Operations Group Launches F.I.R.S.T. Division

New Division Challenges the Status Quo of Current Homicide Investigation Practices, Teaches Outdoor Crime Scene Reconstruction
Gettysburg, PA – June 28, 2018 – Tripwire Operations Group announces the launch of its all-new F.I.R.S.T. Division. F.I.R.S.T. – Forensic. Investigation. Research. Services. Training. – offers a variety of short courses in the areas of forensic anthropology, outdoor crime scene reconstruction, forensic scene mapping, mass disaster scene processing, disaster morgue protocols, cold case reviews, and scene mapping of actual forensic scenes. F.I.R.S.T. courses challenge the current crime scene investigation status quo and instead teach the importance of crime scene reconstruction to fully understand how a death event occurred. The Division is run by forensic anthropology and archaeology consultants for Tripwire Operations Group, Dennis Dirkmaat, Ph.D., D-ABFA, and FBI Special Agent Michael Hochrein (ret).

“We’re proud to have Dennis and Mike as a part of the team at Tripwire. They’re the best at what they do and are giving medical examiners and first responders a more accurate way to conduct an outdoor homicide investigation,” said Ryan J. Morris, owner, Tripwire Operations Group. “There’s no one else out there bringing this type and level of training to first responders. The F.I.R.S.T. Division is a natural expansion for us as we continue to set the standard for high-quality training for first responders across the country and internationally.”

Dirkmaat and Hochrein take a different approach to outdoor crime scene reconstruction and homicide investigation, going beyond standard law enforcement procedures to put crime scenes into context.

“There are simply too many ‘agents,’ such as animals, weather, water, snow, and humans, at an outdoor crime scene that can alter evidence after a death event takes place. And each manipulation of that evidence, be it from animals or weather or other factors, can have a profound effect on the types of conclusions we can draw, and further, may impact our understanding of how that individual died,” explained Dirkmaat. “We’re here to educate and inform law enforcement officers and medical examiners as to the importance of reconstructing, and thereby fully understanding, an outdoor crime scene.”

A recently completed F.I.R.S.T. Division course taught to a group of medical examiners from Kazakhstan is currently featured on the Tripwire blog. Visit the blog to learn more about this group of students and the best practices they’re returning home to implement.

F.I.R.S.T Division courses are scheduling now for Fall 2018. For more information and to register, visit: tripwireops.org/events.

Black Aces Tactical announces a new Semiautomatic Shockwave

Wednesday, June 27th, 2018

Black Aces Tactical (BAT), an American manufacturer best known for its patented custom shotguns, is excited to announce the release of the company’s new Semiautomatic Shockwave and Peacekeeper shotguns.

Said Lemoine, “The Shockwave platform has been nothing short of a phenomenon.  We have always felt, and more importantly the customers have always felt, that a semiautomatic version is inevitable.  The brass ring has always been a semiautomatic 12 gauge platform in the most compact package possible.  We feel that we have created an incredible weapon here.”.

At $949 retail – a shooter has choices. Both the Semiautomatic Shockwave and Peacekeeper Pistol Grip versions can be had in 18.5 6+1 trim as well as the uber cool 12.5” 4+1 SBS trim.  For a few dollars more, Black Aces Tactical will install a 6 position folding stock.

“For as long as we can remember, the gun industry has been playing follow the leader.  Our goal is to give the customer something that other manufacturers won’t.”.

Both the Shockwave Semiautomatic and Peacekeeper Pistol Grip models feature a number of innovations.

First and most obvious, the recoil assembly must be relocated and old recoil tube modified to accept the grip.  Next the gas ports are tuned to operate both low and high brass.  Finally the trigger is addressed in order to facilitate fast feeding.  “Being that we use a Remington 1100 base, we have identified addressed a number of weak points.”, said Lemoine.
