ORSM 22 – Adidas Five Ten

I have been a huge fan of Five Ten for years. It’s good to see that the brand is still alive under Adidas but I wish they’d go back to their roots and create some more outdoor styles beyond the biking styles they currently make.

However, some of these shoes can be used for other applications than intended like the Trailcross Mid Pro.

This non-waterproof, mid height boot can be used for maritime ops and incorporates D3O at the ankle to mitigate injuries.

Best of all, and features Five Ten’s famous stealth rubber sole compound?. Sticky, it will ensure you are surefooted on wet terrain.

I’m a fan of the Garberg from Morakniv which comes with their multi mount option.

It features a stainless blade with full-tang construction into a polymer barrel-shaped handle with soft friction grip. The blade also has a ground spine for use with a fire starter.

ORSM 22 – Grüezil Bag

This Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is Germany’s Grüezil Bag premiere in the US.

What I find compellling about the brand is that the use a combination of down (70%) and wool (30%) as insulation. They cover their down with AlmWolle which protects the down from moisture, even when there is high humidity.

This survival model seen here integrates a bug net and is designed to go down to around 40 deg F.

We’ve featured Brandblack’s Milspec models in the past.

They’ve updated the model for 2023 with Cordura uppers and a waterproof breathable lining as well as the new EVO sole which is not only wider for better stability but also incorporates 3mm of foam for comfort.

They’ve also added an Olive color way which is reminiscent of the classic jungle boot.
