Wild Bill Braski: Blades, Training, and The Impaler

August 25th, 2025

There’s a certain kind of man forged in fire, sharpened by adversity, and honed by the grind of years in the arena. Bill Braski is one of those men. From leading Marines in combat as an Infantry Unit Leader, late night call outs with SWAT, grinding through DARC’s hallways, working Patrol as a police officer, and sweating on jiu-jitsu mats. Braski’s life has been defined by two constants: combat readiness and quality tools. His endless pursuit of excellence was forged in the chaotic moments where luck ran out for good men. That’s where this story really starts, not in a forge, but in the aftermath of close calls and the memory of friends hurt or gone, reminders that “we’ve always done it this way” training are gambles nobody should take.

Media by CHMBRD media

For Braski, “good enough” has never been enough. He’s seen too many failures—gear that looked the part but collapsed under pressure, and training forced to adapt to subpar equipment. Instead of complaining, he built solutions. “Necessity breeds innovation” isn’t just another slogan to him; it’s a debt to the people who didn’t get another chance.

Media by CHMBRD media

What started as a small shop making custom brass knuckles—gifts of grit and resilience for friends and fellow prepared individuals—quickly evolved. The intrigue of creating edged tools was always present, and Braski knew there was a space in the market for a blade that could meet the brutal realities of professional duty while still providing the ability to train with absolute realism.

That philosophy became Wild Bill Braski Knife & Tool. The flagship: The Impaler Training Package.

The Blade

The Impaler is a purpose-built tool designed for the moments that matter most. Machined from CPM-154CM stainless steel, it offers an optimal balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness while also allowing the end user to have an easy sharpening experience.  At 5/32″ thick and 3.99″ in blade length, its geometry is engineered for deep penetration without sacrificing tip strength.

The grind maintains a reinforced tip that can withstand repeated post-penetration torque without chipping or rolling. Its whale-tail pommel (punyo) is a biomechanical advantage. It gives the user a natural purchase point, allowing for a rapid, consistent draw under duress.

Media by CHMBRD media

Whether capping the thumb for precision thrusts or indexing the blade in the dark, the punyo translates to speed on the draw and is a force multiplier for a power assist thrust. Textured G10 scales, which are machined, blasted, and impervious to weather. The blade’s black nitride coating not only resists wear and corrosion but also minimizes glare, blending stealth with durability. On the squared spine, aggressive jimping ensures correct blade orientation, while the sharp 90-degree spine serves as a ferro rod striker, scraper, or leverage point in post penetration techniques

Etched into every blade: Work the Problem— A subtle reminder to always be forward thinking and actively problem solving, and when things get hard, just keep working. One step FORWARD at a time.

Training as the Core

In the worlds of professional duty and self-preservation, gear without training is just dead weight. The Impaler Training package isn’t simply about owning a knife—it’s about knowing how to use it. Braski’s law enforcement career, black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and years of teaching combatives have taught him a valuable truth: skill is perishable, but training keeps it alive.

The Impaler Training Package is built with the truth said by Miyamoto Musashi in The Book of Five Rings: “You can only fight the way you practice. Without relentless training, skill is an illusion—only disciplined repetition makes it real.”

Media by Advokit,llc

In weapon-retention scenarios, the Impaler gives officers a support-side lethal option when their firearm is locked in a struggle. In SWAT training, reps on the shot timer showed that from inside the reactionary gap, transitioning to the Impaler often beats a pistol draw after a rifle malfunctionduring CQB combatives. The blade’s penetrating power and whale-tail leverage also provide control to drive adversaries into clean walls—creating space for teammates’ opening sectors of fire.

The Package Includes

  • Live CPM-154CM Impaler blade
  • AEB-L stainless trainer
  • Kydex sheath with DCC clip
  • MOAS Universal Magnetic Sheath (patent pending) with proprietary hardware
  • Training resources from Bill Braski

The Trainer

Prove or disprove theories of employing your tools by using the trainer. When designing this package, a trainer was mandatory and almost as important as the live blade, not an afterthought.

Crafted from AEB-L stainless steel, it mirrors the live blade’s ergonomics while being a half-inch shorter, ensuring every training strike with the live blade achieves real penetration depth.

Media by Advokit,llc

Every edge is rounded to protect training partners, yet the weight and balance replicate the live version for accurate muscle memory. Stainless steel was chosen over aluminum to prevent chipping, deformation, and sheath damage—critical for longevity in high-rep training. Resistant to sweat, rain, and the abuses of scenario work, it’s a trainer meant to last as long as the blade itself.

Media by CHMBRD Media

Ambidextrous Kydex Belt Sheath—Minimal, secure, and built for discreet carry with a Discreet Carry Concepts (DCC) clip. It locks the blade in place while allowing a smooth draw from either hand in either blade orientation.

Media by CHMBRD Media

MOAS Universal Magnetic Sheath—Braski’s patent-pending game-changer from his other company PragmaTAC. Using a consistent 5–6 lbs of magnetic retention, it accepts any steel blade within its dimensions—in any orientation. The magnetic system not only secures the blade but also pulls it into place as you re-sheath it, eliminating the fumbling common with traditional designs. Fully user-serviceable, it can be disassembled for cleaning and field repair. Providing both sheaths ensures users always have a functional setup for both the live blade and trainer.

Final Word

Wild Bill Braski Knife & Tool was built on the belief that training and tools must stand together. We make tools for end users—tools you carry, train with, and trust when there’s no one coming to save you.

Wild Bill Braski Knife & Tool was built on the belief that tools and training must be equal parts of the equation. The Impaler Training Package is available on pre-order now and will be released September 1, 2025, at wbbkt.com .

Media by Advokit,llc

The Impaler Training Package embodies that philosophy—engineered for performance, backed by resources to make you effective. This isn’t a collector’s piece. It’s an ecosystem. A reminder to:

Work the Problem. Own the Solution.

Riihimäki, Finland – August 25, 2025 – SAKO proudly announces the launch of the Sako ARG – Arctic Rifle Generation, a next-generation full-auto rifle system developed in close collaboration with the Finnish and Swedish DefenceForces. Designed to replace legacy assault rifles, the ARG platform is purpose-built for Arctic warfare and tested to NATO D14 standards, delivering unmatched reliability, modularity, and mission adaptability for military and law enforcement professionals.

The Sako ARG is based on the proven AR-15 platform, enhanced with advanced engineering to meet the demands of modern combat. It features two distinct operating systems: a short-stroke gas piston system for extreme environments, reducing heat and carbon buildup for maximum reliability—and a direct impingement system for a lighter, more streamlined design with refined accuracy and a smoother shooting experience.

SAKO launches three different models under the Sako ARG family. Sako ARG 40 GP (Gas piston) and DI (Direct impingement) in 5.56×45 Nato. Also, Sako ARG 50 GP, a semi-auto sniper rifle chambered in 7.62×51, is included in the line-up.

The SAKO ARG is more than a rifle, it’s a mission-ready system designed to protect what matters most,” said Juuso Austin, Vice President – Defence & Law Enforcement Business Unit at SAKO “It’s built for those who operate where others hesitate.

Purpose-built for the modern war fighter

The ARG is fully ambidextrous, with safety selectors, magazine releases, and bolt catch mechanisms, ensuring intuitive operation for both left- and right-handed users. This design supports fast, instinctive handling in high-pressure scenarios.

Each rifle is equipped with a SAKO match-grade trigger unit, delivering a clean, consistent break for enhanced accuracy and control. The cold-hammer forged barrel, crafted from high-grade materials and hard-chrome lined, provides long-term durability and maintaining accuracy over thousands of rounds.

The ARG’s modular architecture includes a configurable rear stock and forend, with standardized mounting systems such as Picatinny, M-LOK, and AR-compatible components. Operators can easily attach optics, thermals, lasers, and other tactical accessories, tailoring the rifle to mission-specific profiles. Key components are interoperable with standard AR-15 systems, simplifying maintenance and logistics, even in crisis scenarios.

We designed the ARG to give clients the freedom to choose the right configuration for their needs,” said Sami Vaajamo, Senior Product Group Manager at SAKO. “Whether you’re in a frozen tundra or a dense urban environment, the ARG adapts without compromise.”

Tested. Trusted. Tactical.

The ARG rifles have undergone rigorous testing in the arctic as well as muddy and sandy conditions, ensuring operational readiness in the harshest environments. Designed as a complete system replacement, the ARG integrates seamlessly with client’s weapon systems and supports full lifecycle management, including training, maintenance, and future modernization.

The development of the SAKO ARG platform began over a decade ago with a clear mission: to create a modern, modular rifle system capable of replacing legacy assault rifles across military and law enforcement forces,” said Miikka Tamminen, Vice President – Research & Development at SAKO. “From day one, we prioritized real-world performance. That meant working hand-in-hand with professional users from defense organizations, incorporating their feedback into every design iteration—from ergonomics and modularity to reliability and maintainability.

The ARG has been tested far beyond standard requirements. In addition to rigorous NATO D14 environmental and durability testing, we push our rifles to failure in-house to understand their true limits. These insights are not just data—they’re design tools that help us build a stronger, more resilient system.”

Beyond the rifle, SAKO offers a full ecosystem of compatible accessories, including optics, thermal and night vision systems, laser designators, and tactical cases, delivered through a trusted global partner network.

Each ARG system is supported by a full lifecycle management program, including operator and armorer training, spare parts provisioning, and modernization services, ensuring seamless integration and long-term operational readiness.

AFGSC Completes M18 Handgun Inspection, Returns to Service

August 25th, 2025

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. —

Air Force Global Strike Command has completed a comprehensive inspection of its 7,970 M18 Modular Handgun Systems, following a directed pause on July 21, 2025.

The pause was initiated out of an abundance of caution following a tragic incident at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming, and reflects AFGSC’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of its Airmen.

“It is paramount that our Airmen trust their weapon systems,” said Gen. Thomas Bussiere, AFGSC commander. “This thorough inspection ensures the M18s in our inventory are in optimal working order, providing our Defenders with safe, reliable, and effective systems to accomplish their mission.”

The inspection process identified discrepancies with 191 weapons across the command’s M18 inventory. The primary discrepancy was related to component wear. The most frequent issues centered on problems with the safety lever, striker assembly and sear. Weapons exhibiting these discrepancies were immediately tagged and are undergoing necessary repairs.

The intent of this command-wide inspection was two-fold: first, to confirm that all weapons in service are in proper working order; and second, to analyze the data regarding any reported discrepancies and usage rates.

A review of weapon discharges in AFGSC showed that none were attributed to weapons malfunction.

“When we see a potential issue, we have a responsibility to our Airmen and the American public to evaluate, find any discrepancies, and act on them,” Bussiere said.

As part of its commitment to safety, AFGSC is implementing enhanced inspection procedures for the M18 pistol. The command’s bases will include additional inspection criteria for the areas where potential issues were found during the M18 pause.

“By incorporating these added measures, we assess that any issues found with the safety lever, striker assembly and sear will be identified during semi-annual and annual inspections,” said Lt. Col. George Hern, AFGSC chief of security forces. “As we execute M18 inspections in the future, we will be taking a particular interest in these components to ensure these methods address the issues we found and make adjustments as needed.”

Air Force Global Strike Command Security Forces Defenders are resuming arming with M18s that have successfully passed inspection – deeming them safe and reliable for use – on Aug. 25, 2025.

Further, Security Forces squadron commanders, senior enlisted leaders and combat arms training and maintenance personnel are taking the time to meet with Airmen following this inspection. These leaders are discussing inspection findings, explaining the enhanced inspection procedures, reinforcing muzzle discipline, reviewing reporting procedures for weapons of concern, and providing Airmen the opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns.

The M18 is specifically designed and rigorously tested to meet stringent environmental, endurance, and drop tests unique to the military.

BRYCK from Tsecond

August 25th, 2025

Last week I ran across a very cool digital storage device from Tsecond. The BRYCK offers a staggering one petabyte of solid state storage in a compact form factor.

Better yet, it is air cooled. Imagine a single storage device that can be left in place for remote collection.

You’re getting data center levels of storage in a small box you can carry around.

A petabyte (PB) is a unit of digital storage equal to 1,000 terabytes (TB) or 1,000,000 gigabytes (GB). To put it in perspective, one petabyte can store roughly:

• 200,000 DVDs worth of data (assuming a standard DVD holds about 4.7 GB).

• 250 million songs in MP3 format (assuming an average song size of 4 MB).

• 500 billion pages of plain text (assuming 2 KB per page).

• Enough video to stream 1080p HD content for over 3 years continuously (at ~5 Mbps).

I’ve never seen anything like this.

What’s more, they can configure the BRYCK to combine storage and AI in the event you want to conduct edge processing. It’s offered in several form factors including a MOSA chassis.

Being able to conduct air gapped AI processing to avoid spurious data corruption is going to be crucial on future battlefields and BRYCK will allow you to do it.

Finally, it offers onboard data encryption and remote wiping.

Tsecond has loads of tech data in their site so I suggest you head over there and nerd out. They would be more than happy to discuss your organization’s needs as well.

New Production Facility Opens to Streamline Army Artillery Production

August 25th, 2025

ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. — Since 2022, the Army has nearly quadrupled its monthly production of the 155mm M795 projectile artillery and is driven by efforts to improve readiness, respond to global demands, and incorporate lessons learned from current conflicts.

Ryan Oliver, contracting officer and Corey Schaefer, contract specialist, from the Munitions Readiness Directorate at Army Contracting Command – Rock Island were responsible for awarding a $44.9 million contract to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems for a new load, assemble and pack facility in Camden, Arkansas.

They managed the pre-award and post-award requirements, ensuring the contractor was meeting their contractual deadlines through detailed coordination between the government and contractor, allowing the facility to begin operating in a timely manner.

Schaefer explained construction for this state-of-the-art facility began in April 2023 when General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems provided an integrated master schedule and began hiring their team. Immediately thereafter, employees started leveling the site to perform construction pre-activities and the facility opened on April 22, 2025.

“This [integrated master] schedule shows all the main critical paths and how it all works,” said Schaefer. “The different buildings are on there, the ordering of the equipment, the different reviews get tracked as a schedule, and then it gets updated as needed upon agreement of the contractor and the government. As developments or changes take place that gets tracked as well.”

The construction of the facility was designed to significantly boost the Army’s production of 155mm artillery munitions, a key component in modernizing artillery capabilities and to restore and expand the domestic defense industrial base. This new facility will focus on the final stage of artillery shell production, where the metal bodies of 155mm projectiles are filled with explosives, assembled, and packed for shipment.

The facility also exemplifies how the Army is investing in modernization to ensure essential munitions are produced efficiently and on time, enabling U.S. forces as well as allies and partners to maintain a strategic advantage. Because of this expansion, this new facility is designed to streamline the production process, enhancing the Army’s capacity to meet increasing demands for high-explosive artillery projectiles.

When fully operational, the new Camden facility will produce 50,000 completed projectiles per month, which marks a significant leap forward in artillery production. The U.S. Army’s larger objective is to double the monthly output of 155mm rounds to 100,000 by leveraging advanced automation, digital quality tracking systems, and environmentally conscious processes such as a next-generation air-cooling system for explosive curing.

By increasing production of these essential munitions, the Army and Marine Corps are not only preparing for current military engagements but also positioning for future conflicts that may require rapid and sustained artillery support.

Schaefer stated General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems had never produced this specific 155mm M795 projectile load, assemble and pack before.

“It’s kind of like the new fish in the pond,” said Schaefer. “We gave them the technical data package, which required a lot of document reviews, giving feedback, government personnel going there in person and seeing what they’re doing and telling them they need to get this produced quickly. But they wanted to provide a solution, so they employed automation.”

Oliver had the opportunity to tour the facility and was impressed by how clean and efficient everything was.

“Granted it was a new facility, but all of the processes were automated,” said Oliver. “Everything was machine driven, with very few operators and it was nice to be able to watch the process unfold. Seeing the entire process in action brought the contract and its associated meetings and discussions to life.”

As global security challenges continue to evolve, this expansion is a critical step in ensuring the U.S. military remains equipped and ready for rapid deployment in various conflict scenarios. 155mm produced at the Camden facility will play a pivotal role in the Army’s broader defense strategy, bolstering military readiness and maintaining a technological edge over adversaries.
