Applied Ballistics Announces Two New Books

October 20th, 2015

Cedar Springs, MI – October 19, 2015 – This fall, Applied Ballistics is proud to announce the release of two new editions of their library of popular books; Applied Ballistics For Long Range Shooting – 3rd Edition, and Ballistic Performance of Rifle Bullets – 2nd Edition.

Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooting is the flagship title of Applied Ballistics’ technical library, and the latest edition brings readers content on Weapon Employment Zone (WEZ) analysis (the study of hit percentage, and how it’s affected by the uncertainties in your environment). As is expected with all of Applied Ballistics’ findings, existing academic material is augmented throughout the book, with modern experimental findings. The third edition also includes the most updated version of the ballistic software on CD. This most recent installment of this title does not include the library of bullet data, as it has outgrown an appendix, and now exists as a separate reference book: Ballistic Performance of Rifle Bullets.

Ballistic Performance of Rifle Bullets contains the current library of all modern bullets tested by the Applied Ballistics Laboratory. Expanding on the first edition of this title, which had data on 400 bullets from .22 to .408 caliber, this second edition contains data on 533 bullets from .22 thru .50 caliber. In addition to the centerfire bullet data, this latest installment includes live fire data on 90 types of rimfire ammo which were all tested for muzzle velocity and BC thru 5 different barrels of various twist and length configurations. This library of experimental test data is the most extensive and accurate resource ever assembled for small arms bullets. Numerous modern ballistics solvers and programs draw from the library of tested BC’s that are published in this book.

Applied Ballistics

Retail price is $54.95 for each title, or $94.95 if purchased together. Pre-orders are currently being accepted at an additional $5 discount thru the Applied Ballistics store and will ship by second week of December.

A7 Defense & Aerospace, a division of Angel 7 Industries, is proud to introduce the new A7 Stealth eye pro with super ballistic i-RMR technology, Ghost Shield super fast photochromic technology, and next-gen Laser Eye Protection (820-1064nm) all in one lens!

StealthFloat.psd

i-RMR technology is the industries’ most ballistically advanced and can defeat a shotgun blast, using steel shot, from 15 feet away. Ghost Shield is the industries’ fastest photochromic technology that darkens to 13% VLT in less than ten seconds, and is also the toughest as it is not a coating but is embedded in the lens material itself so there is nothing to scratch off and nothing that can be affected by sand, fuels, chemicals, etc. These two one-of-a-kind technologies have now been combined with next generation Laser Eye Protection (LEP) that protects in the range of 820-1064nm with a high VLT resulting in one lens with multi-mission, multi-threat capability.

    Tapco Inc Security Screens

    October 20th, 2015

As soon as I was introduced to Tapco Inc’s (no relation to the firearms accessory manufacturer) Security Screen, I started thinking asset and force protection.  If you’ve got a facility that needs the advantages of mesh wire screening for ventilation, yet are concerned that it makes it vulnerable to forced entry, you’ve got to check this material out.

    IMG_4249

Originally designed for use with hurricanes, TAPCO screens are composed of stainless steel wire mesh, while the frames, and other associated hardware, are made of 6063-T5 extruded aluminum and stainless steel. The screens are extremely durable, able to withstand hammer strikes and pry bars without producing enough give to allow entry; they are still accessible by rescue personnel utilizing specialized equipment, such as a K-12 rescue saw.  On the other side of the coin, they’ll definitely slow down an intruder, but you can open fire through the screen, if need be to reduce a threat.

TAPCO screens come in standard colors of Mill Finish, Bronze, or White, with special colors available.

Available for unit and industry purchase through Darley Defense.

Armageddon Gear – The Possibles Bag

    October 20th, 2015

The Possibles Bag is a traditional, general purpose shooter’s bag. In the past they’ve been made of a wide variety of materials including leather but Armageddon Gear makes a great family of Possibles Bags of Cordura nylon. Armageddon Gear founder, Tom Fuller introduced them to me while serving as my shooting partner during last weekend’s Gap Grind PRS match.  Yeah, they kind of remind me of Crown Royal bags.

They feature a drawstring bungee closure which keeps goods in place, yet can quickly be opened when necessary. The Possibles Bag comes in three sizes:

Small, good for batteries, keys, hand-held GPS units, etc.

Medium, good for spare mags, binos, rangefinders, etc.

Large, good for jumper cables, clothing, jackets, etc.

Available in various solid colors, such as Black and Coyote, and camouflage patterns, including the A-TACS AU and FG seen here as well as MultiCam.
