Zulu Nylon Gear 2

Zulu Nylon Gear is almost an insider tip, as we’re familiar with a lot of stuff from them – Zulu sews on behalf for ITS Tactical. Today we’re presenting the RSCR Chest Rig – this is the link to our review. We talked to Joel Zaruba about what he does otherwise.

Joel Zaruba Zuly Nylon Gear

SPARTANAT: Zulu Nylon Gear is a small gear manufacturer from USA. What are you specialized in?

Zulu Nylon Gear: We primarily specialize in private label manufacturing and design work for other companies. We also have our own product line.

SPARTANAT: For how long have you manufactured gear?

Zulu Nylon Gear: We’ve been manufacturing tactical gear since 2007.

Zulu Nylon Gear 3

SPARTANAT: The first of your products we were familiar with is your Visor panels. What else is typical for you?

Zulu Nylon Gear: The MOLLE Visor Panel is a very popular item from our line. The Mega Admin Pouch is also very popular. The new RSCR Chest Rig is our latest product and I hope people like it! It has gone through several years of evolution before I felt it was ready. My goal was to build a minimalist rig that carries only the essentials in a slim, comfortable format but still works well in a “tactical” environment beyond just the flat range.

SPARTANAT: Maybe more people know your work under the name ITS Tactical. You produce their tactical nylon? How did this come?

Zulu Nylon Gear 4

Zulu Nylon Gear: We’ve done worked on the design and manufacturing for many of the ITS Tactical nylon products – look here at ITS Shop . I knew Bryan from ITS from the very beginning of the blog and the work on nylon products naturally came from that.

Zulu Nylon Gear 1

Zulu Nylon Gear has been providing high quality custom tactical nylon to military, law enforcement, and civilian customers from all around the globe since 2007. By relying on common sense practicality and critical user feedback, Zulu Nylon Gear will help you complete your mission with unique, specially tailored equipment. All Zulu Nylon Gear products are proudly sewn in the USA. You can find their tacticool Patch here.

SPARTANAT – GEAR Made in USA: Spiritus Systems

Spiritus Systems 1

In nomine patris et filii et spiritus sancti… Christmas will come. We can not bring you a Holy Spirit, but Spiritus Systems we have in stock. We just introduced their Micro Chest Rig with a SPARTANAT Review (http://spartanat.com/2017/12/review-spiritus-systems-micro-fight-chest-rig/) a few days ago. Now we want to know from those US minimalists what drives them.

Spiritus Systems 2

SPARTANAT: There are many shops with many products. Spiritus Systems seems to be the one with one product: the Micro Fight Chassis and its parts. How does it come?

Our Company has always looked for areas in the market that were lacking innovation and substance that we could contribute to. We aren’t in the business of “me too” products, and the last thing the gear world needs is another MOLLE 5.56 mag pouch. The Micro Fight Chest Rig was the first product to bring a high degree of modularity into such a small platform, and we wanted to focus our energy into fully supporting that product and delivering as much user configurability as possible. What people don’t seen is the massive amount of research and new products development we do. Everything we release has been put through its paces, and we won’t ship it unless it’s a piece of equipment we would trust out lives to. We stay busy working closely with several agencies and units, finding innovative ways to solve problems they face. We work with companies who are writing the future of battlefield technology and communications, allowing us to incorporate design elements and features for the battlefield of the future. Throughout 2018, you will see several new products release to the public. The most exciting of these are our Plate Carriers, which you should see more of at SHOT Show 2018.

Spiritus Systems 3

SPARTANAT: Micro seams to be a trend now, from VOCR by Extreme Gear Labs going to D3CR from HSP and Trianing Mini Rig by Helikon-Tex now. What makes your Chest rig system so special?

I’m glad to see so many companies coming around to offer a solution to a problem that has existed for years. When we designed the first Micro Fight Chest Rig back in 2015, we did so out of a frustration that everything on the market was bulky and defined. The part of our System that people respond to the most is the high level of modularity. We don’t tell you how to set up your equipment. We don’t make you buy several chest rigs for different platforms. We don’t restrict your workflow to make sure the kit is ambidextrous. There is no one in the world that know more about your needs than you do, so all we do is provide you the tools to properly achieve the best solution for your situation. What’s great about it is that as your situation changes, you just adjust your rig, and move out. It all comes back to a core Infantry motto: Brilliance in the Basics.

Spiritus Systems 4

SPARTANAT: Where do you come from (military)? Where origins the idea for your Micro Fight System? Was the success of your Micro Fight a surprise for you?

My partner and I were both Infantrymen in the US Army. I guess it’s the classic story of living through too many failures in equipment and wanting to do something about it. The Micro Fight was really a response to a need my partner had while working with the State Department after his time on Active Duty. He needed a rig that was small enough to fit under the seat of a truck, yet carried enough mags and equipment to get through if things became kinetic. Once we saw the first Chassis take shape, we knew that we had something that almost everyone that carries a long gun could use. Whether it’s a cop on an active shooter response team, worn as a placard on a solder’s plate carrier, or for the responsible armed citizen needing something for the range, our kit is flexible and dynamic enough to give them exactly what they’re needing.

Spiritus Systems 5

SPARTANAT: What’s next? I have seen the Bank Robber Chest Rig, maybe a PC? Will you go on on with minimalistic style?

The Bank Robber has been a hit and you should see it populating in many of our resellers’ offerings after the first of the year. As I mentioned earlier, our Plate Carrier line will be launching very soon. We have developed 3 Carriers (NV-119, LV-119, and MT-119) that meet a variety of needs, but you’re going to have to stay tuned to learn more about it. All I can tell you is that the MT-119 will do for Plate Carriers what the Micro Fight has done for chest rigs.

The best way to stay up on what’s going on at Spiritus Headquarters is to follow us on Instagram and Facebook, and be on the lookout for the new hotness dropping early 2018.

SPARTANAT – German KSK Adopts HK416A7

Friday, October 13th, 2017

SPARTANAT: This is the new rifle of German Special Forces

G95

On October 10, the Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology of the German Armed Forces) ordered Heckler & Koch from Oberndorf to supply 1,745 H&K 416 A7 weapons and accessories.

The Bundeswehr designation is expected to be G95 (G is Gewehr which is German for Rifle). It is a gas piston rifle in the caliber 5.56 mm x 45 NATO. The weapon has a weight of 3.690 kg and a barrel length of 14.5″. The G95 is to be the new standard gun of the KSK ( Kommando Spezialkräfte) and the special forces command of the Navy (KSM) and is expected to be delivered to the force beginning January 2019. Technical testing at the military service center 91 as well as tactical testing by the special forces starts in November 2017. This German Special Forces adoption is of a newer edition of the HK416 than that which in use with US and UK SOF. It will be very interesting to see which laser boxes and optics will be chosen for the new Sturmgewehr Spezialkräfte.

Larry Vickers noted that the A7 model is the first variant of the HK416 with a 45 Deg throw lever safety. Interestingly, this feature is also on the HK433.

SPARTANAT: STEINER GOES KSK – MILITARY 5-25×56 ON G29

Saturday, July 8th, 2017

Steiner G29 Optik 1

A sniper rifle is only as good as you can shoot it. The result is a combination of weapon and optics, ammunition and man. We were able to admire the result of a new procurement of the Bundeswehr from SPARTANAT during a company visit in Bayreuth near Steiner Optics and then test it on the range: The Haenel RS9 is the official G29, mounted on the new Steiner Military 5-25 × 56 target telescope. The German specialists have opted for this combination. 115 weapons with Steiner optics have been successfully delivered to the Bundeswehr. They are now played by KSK and KSM.

Steiner G29 Optik 2

In the course of various foreign assignments of the German Federal Armed Forces, the need for the replacement of the G22 manifested itself. A corresponding order for the acquisition of a new medium-range sniping rifle was tendered by the Federal Armed Forces in 2014. The well-established German company C.G. Haenel GmbH won this tender – the new G29 is standardly equipped with a Steiner Military 5-25×56 scope on a Recknagel Era Tac-mount.

Steiner G29 Optik TReMoR3

The Steiner Military 5-25×56 features a TReMoR3 reticle and is a scope of highest optical quality that has specifically been designed for tactical and military operations. A high magnification combined with a large adjustment range extend field-relevant shooting distances beyond 1.500 meters. The 5x – 25x zoom displays the extreme versatility of these optics while the objective lens diameter of 56mm provides an outstanding visibility even in lowest light.

Steiner G29 Optik 4

The TReMoR3™ reticle is all about shooting faster. It is field-proven to make wind and elevation calls possible in a matter of seconds. The reticle also allows one to accurately mil targets very quickly using the chevron 1/10 mil marks.

Steiner G29 Optik 6

The Steiner Military scope has been built to defy any challenges in the field uncompromisingly. Its excellent optical performance with world-class light transmission far beyond 90%, in combination with the legendary Steiner ruggedness let this scope be the ultimate premium precision optics for any tactical and military application.

Steiner G29 Optik Steiner Logo

Steiner Optic

As a traditional local manufacturer, Steiner Optic from Bayreuth, Germany, evolved to be the biggest specialized producer of premium binoculars. From the 1950s onwards, Steiner Optic specialized in the field of optics to develop their products further. As a result, they can claim global leadership today and assert this position annually. Now again, Steiner Optic can look back at a very successful year. In 2016, they were able to strengthen their market position. Steiner Optic was able to increase their sales by over ten percent, thanks to increasing sales figures in Germany and abroad as well as in the military sector. Following these developments, Steiner Optic can look back at a very successful year, which motivates the Bayreuth specialists to expand their market position further and to keep their leading position in innovating and producing premium binoculars.

SPARTANAT – Gear Made in Israel – Agilite. “Our experiences come from the battlefield“

Thursday, May 11th, 2017

The Israeli army is considered one of the best in the world. No wonder, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) must defend a country that is surrounded by enemies in the truest sense of the word. At the same time, Israel has a creative defense industry. In the gear sector, AGILITE is one of the most outstanding companies. We talked with Eric, who is the international salesman for Agilite and was a member of the maritime SOF unit Shayatet 13, about the “Israeli way of gear”.

Agilite1

SPARTANAT: Eric, where does Agilite come from and when did you start it?

AGILITE: Agilite is an Israeli company that uses experience from IDF units to make clever and more creative solutions to make tactical gear more ergonomic. It was founded in 2006 in Tel Aviv, Israel and is a supplier to both the Israel Defense Forces and Forces worldwide.

Agilite2

SPARTANAT: IDF is an army with a lot of experiences. Is there a specific Israeli way of gear?

AGILITE: Yes, The IDF was founded under fire and often had to get by with whatever bad gear they could get hold of and just make it work. Right from the start, adapting the gear to make it work better was a part of the military culture. Soldiers had to get creative to make their equipment work well enough because being too heavy or not being able to move fast enough could cost you your life.
SF units and even regular infantry battalions all set up their own in-house gear studios to adapt or design their equipment from scratch to make it work well. They say “Necessity is the mother of invention” and when there’s a direct link between soldiers coming back from nightly missions and gear designers within their units gear can be refined and refined until it’s optimal for combat. This lead to a very different gear culture to other countries.

Agilite was founded to take this clever, creative, experience-based approach to gear design and combine it with professional manufacturing and to take it worldwide to other allied forces who can benefit from this mindset and gear that works with the body, not against it.

It’s gear ideas and experience going from the battlefield to the manufacturer, not the other way around like in many places.
As time goes on, weapons, enemy tactics and types of threats change but our soldiers’ bodies remain constant so gear has to adapt to keep operators light on their feet and agile.

Agilite3

SPARTANAT: What’s your favorite Agilite product?

AGILITE: My favorite Agilite product is the Axis knee pad, a product that fixed the IDF’s problem of knee pads that fall down. Axis are now the standard issue knee pad for the entire Israeli military and they are outstanding. Every operator knows what it’s like to have to pull your knee pads up from your ankles non-stop and with Axis you don’t have to do that. You put them on and forget about them. They are also great because they are very well priced to be relevant to all soldiers not just SF which is rare.

Personally I also love them because they grip wet surfaces, do not slip on boats and also don’t absorb water. which is important in naval operations. Some people are bothered by their physical appearance but anyone who tries them is instantly hooked.

AgiliteKatalog

SPARTANAT: Where is Agilite also in use beside Israel?

AGILITE: Agilite equipment is in use in over thirty countries and in some of the world’s most elite special forces units. Many top tier units operate in Middle Eastern combat terrain and climates very similar to ours and so our gear is very well received. We also do a lot of custom gear that is unit-specific but obviously not all of this is for public knowledge.

Eric M is head of International sales for Agilite. He spent 5 years as an operator in Shayetet 13, Israel’s Tier 1 Naval Special Warfare Unit. Contact: eric@agilitegear.com
