Wilcox Lanyard/Norotos Universal Shroud Kitbash from GGT

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Grey Group Training has put out an excellent article explaining how to combine the new Wilcox Industries’ flush mount retractable NVG Lanyard with Norotos’ Universal Shroud. These new Wilcox lanyards are designed to flush mount on an Ops-Core VAS mount, but many troops are running Norotos mounts which do not have a lanyard. It seemed like a great combination to Grey Group, kind of like peanut and chocolate so they worked out how to mash them together.

More on Beyond’s New Lineup

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Last month we gave you a glimpse into Beyond’s new clothing lineup and website. Now, we want to go a bit more in depth on a couple of these designs. Not to take anything away from Beyond’s great designs and excellent fabric choices, literally the most awesome thing about them is that every garment can be manufactured to fit. It’s as good as having a neighborhood tailor who specializes in tactical clothing. What’s more, Beyond now includes women’s styles as well as men’s. A lot of work was put into developing a fit block specifically for the ladies.

Men’s RidgeBack Bib

Designed as a companion piece to the RidgeBack Jacket, the Bib is joined by a Pant as well. It is manufactured from Gore-Tex and features a full bib front and back in addition to generous side zips to facilitate donning and doffing. Additionally, Beyond has added a hip zip for ventilation as well as dual napoleon pockets on the front bib. The entire RidgeBack line is available in Black, Blue, Coyote, and Alpha Green.

Women’s Steel Jacket

Made from Scholler’s WB-400, the Steel Jacket offers slash pockets as well as optional hood and pit zips. This is another first for Women’s clothing. Take a look at these color choices. Molten Red, Lilac, Desert Khaki, Coyote, Brown, Black, White. There are a couple of options in there that are perfect for tactical operations. Beyond Clothing combines state of the art fabrics, with a true women’s fit block and made to measure in tactical colors. What’s not to like?

Beyond Clothing continues to come on strong with new offerings including insulation pieces and hardshells. We can’t recommend the made to order products enough. Sure, they’re expensive, but how often do you get to purchase clothing that fits you exactly like you want and was made specifically for you? In a big box world, you don’t. Visit www.beyondclothing.com and their sister site tactical.beyondclothing.com.

CSM Gear’s Single Strap Pack

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

CSM Gear is run by a real-deal retired Navy Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman and his experience shows in his designs. It is some of the most no-nonsense kit on the market. In addition to the standard fare that you will run across with most outfitters, CSM Gear has a limited number of their Single Strap Packs left.

Designed for use by someone wearing armor, the single strap allows for the right shoulder to be free in order to shoulder a weapon without encumbrance and features a side release buckle to allow you to ditch the pack rapidly. The main compartment opens fully and the two outer pockets sit on a panel of foam, enabling you to use this pack as a shooting platform. In addition to full PALS fields inside and out, the pack also features a hidden compartment large enough to hold a 1911.

Available in Coyote, Ranger Green and Gray, it isn’t cheap but it is Berry compliant and well made.

More on the Laser Devices Civilian Class I Lasers

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Now that they have been out for a few weeks, we are able to give some additional information on the Laser Devices Civilian Class I Lasers available exclusively from Tactical Night Vision Company. This article will concentrate on the Dual Beam Aiming Laser – Intelligent² (DBAL-I2) Class I which happens to be an excellent value. It is offered in Black or Tan case with Green or Red visible laser.

TNVC took the unit out and was able to clearly discern the laser’s circular pattern to up to 100 yards but noticed degradation beginning at 115 yards. Additionally, TNVC found the lower power to work to their advantage in a CQB environment as more high powered lasers are prone to bloom on walls, particularly light colored walls. Finally, they found that the IR illuminator did not wash out the visible laser.

This is the first time that Laser Devices products have been offered to the public. Please note that it is STILL an ITAR controlled item. For more information, or to order visit www.tnvc.com.
