Comments During SHOT Show

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

Alright folks, SHOT Show is just days away. Behavior in the comments section has been less than admirable lately.

Unfortunately, I’ve got to remind a small minority of commenters that they are guests here and should act like appropriately while commenting. The fact that I even have to bring this up annoys me.

Because I will be so busy during SHOT Show writing stories, I won’t have a lot of time to moderate comments. Instead, I’ll go the simple route. Act foolish, I’ll mark you as spam.

Now, what does that mean? Just act normal. If your normal mode is jerk, then there’s going to be a problem.

However, here are a few tips:

-Don’t post something you wouldn’t say to the other person’s face.

-Refrain from the use of profanity.

-Remember you’re a guest. This is a dictatorship. You don’t have any rights of ‘free speech’ here. You want to wild out, do it elsewhere. I hear Facebook is great.

-You aren’t a victim, so don’t act like one. If you get called out, be an adult about it.

-I once dated a woman who was passive aggressive. If you are passive aggressive, I’ll have flashbacks. Don’t give me flashbacks.

-You aren’t a comedian. No really, you aren’t. I’ll be in Vegas. If you were a comedian, you’d be there as well, headlining a show.

-Having reminded you that you aren’t a comedian, yes, there will be some goofy stuff at SHOT which I may share. Yes, you’re going to make fun of it. I understand.

-Typos are going to happen during SHOT Show. Live with them. It will be okay.

-It’s ok to critique a product or company as long as you tell everyone why. “It’s expensive” isn’t a valid reason.

-No one cares that you can’t afford it.

-Don’t call anyone a Nazi or a racial epithet, even if you’d do it to their face.

-Generic comments about milk crates, scooters, booth babes (which are an endangered species), gun bunnies (which aren’t endangered) and hi-points are okay.

-If I tell you to “eat a Snickers” or “take a knee and drink water” just relax. You’ve made your point and the horse is dead, dead, dead.

-This isn’t a challenge

The purge has already begun.

High Speed Gear Announces TACO LT and Slotted Battle Belt Lines for SHOT Show

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

SWANSBORO, North Carolina – Jan. 14, 2016 – High Speed Gear® has a history of producing some of the most versatile tactical pouches and platforms in the industry. A proven performer, HSGI® continues to show tremendous popularity in the law enforcement and military markets worldwide. Our lengthy list of top tier operators includes U.S. and allied special forces, state and local tactical units, and hundreds of federal agencies.

In keeping with that standard, and from popular demand, High Speed Gear® is proud to expand its TACO® and battle belt families with the new TACO® LT and slotted battle belt lines. These lines feature our three top-selling TACOs®, including the Pistol TACO® and Double Decker TACO®, and slotted versions of our popular Slim-Grip™ and Sure-Grip® Padded Belts.

The TACO® LT, Pistol TACO® LT and Double Decker TACO® LT function like the traditional TACO pouches, but weigh 30% less with our new injection-molded polymer brackets and improved Cordura® laminate. The MOLLE versions take advantage of our resilient and light new vinyl MOLLE backers, while the belt mounted versions use a loop of Velcro® One-Wrap®. These pouches have been tested by law enforcement professionals and special operators alike and have proven to be as durable as the originals. Additionally, these pouches are much more flexible than the standard TACO® line, able to easily twist, bend and collapse without losing shape or breaking.

Our new, slotted, padded-belt systems are the next generation of the HSGI® padded-belt family. They maintain all the durability and versatility of the standard Slim-Grip™ and Sure-Grip®, but add more options for users. Through their paneled design, the wearer can attach both MOLLE and belt-mounted pouches, holsters and drop platforms to these padded belts. The design allows the user to either wear it as a full MOLLE system or weave the inner belt in and out of the panels to expose both belt and MOLLE attachment points. Additionally, the Slim-Grip™ – Slotted now features uniloops like our Sure-Grip® for use with our High Speed Low Drag Suspenders or other similar tactical suspenders.

The TACO® LT line, Slim-Grip™ Padded Belt – Slotted and Sure-Grip® Padded Belt – Slotted are available now.

SIG SAUER Releases SIG MPX Carbine In 9mm

SIG MPX-C

NEWINGTON, N.H. (January 13, 2016) — SIG SAUER, Inc., changed the way the world looked at the subgun with the introduction of the SIG MPX, and now that same innovative technology is available to the consumer market in the semi-automatic SIG MPX Carbine.

The modular 9mm SIG MPX Carbine maintains all of the ergonomic superiority of the short-barrel rifle and pistol variants, but now with a 16″ hammer-forged barrel. A full-length aluminum KeyMod handguard provides ample room for mounting lights, lasers and grips.

“For those who want the full feature set of the SIG MPX, but don’t want a short-barrel rifle or live in a state with restricted access, the SIG MPX Carbine is a great choice,” said John Brasseur, Director of Product Management for SIG SAUER, Inc. “Later, if the operator decides to SBR the Carbine, it’s a simple change with a conversion kit.”

Completely ambidextrous, the SIG MPX Carbine is great for left- or right-handed operators with its dual-sided selector switch, magazine release, charging handle and bolt release. The three-position collapsing stock features integrated QD sling cups for fast and easy sling attachments.

The SIG MPX Carbine operates from a fully closed bolt, and the locking rotating bolt system offers enhanced reliability and safety in use. A short-stroke gas piston with auto-regulating gas valve allows the SIG MPX Carbine to run all weights and brands of 9mm ammunition, from low-power training loads to +P duty ammo. No adjustments are needed to maintain rock-solid reliability.

Familiar AR-pattern controls and ergonomics reduce the training curve and are instinctive for anyone experienced with the AR system. A full-length picatinny rail allows for solid, consistent mounting of optics and targeting lasers. SIG SAUER® folding iron sights come standard.

The SIG MPX Carbine is completely modular, and handguards and barrel lengths can be quickly changed over in the field. The barrel comes with the SIG three-prong flash hider.

Badger Ordnance Cat’s Eye

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

This is the Badger Ordnance Cats Eye seen in the M134 video. It is a dual purpose lens cap and anti-reflection device for the Leupold M151 Spotting Scope.

In the closed position the Cats Eye lens cap protects the objective lens and mitigates visual signature detection. In the open position it allows full use of the spotting scope in all power ranges, while still offering a drastically reduced visual signature.
